  1. For the past 4-5 years, my sole goal has been to improve our server's performance to the absolute limits. I'm proud to say that as of this year, our DarkRP server has been optimized for client and server performance, as much as it could be taken. We proudly have one of the, if not THE most well-optimized and running server in the DarkRP category. We literally run 100+ users on our server while EASILY maintaining a tickrate of 33, something that used to be reserved for servers in the single digit population. New Content on the Agenda: With our server's performance finally reaching a point where I cannot do anything anymore, it was time to shift focus; adding content. HOWEVER, one of our server's biggest sale points aside from performance, is it being low in downloads/vanilla in nature, this led me to a little sidemission: I had to manually sift through 3,707 files, compressing, merging, and removing overlaps of existing files on our server, while making sure, they do not harm gameplay within our server. The outcome? A single content pack containing our ENTIRE server's footprint of just 260MB (excluding the M9k Weapon Base and our map, RP_Downtown). This content pack can be pre-loaded here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3146590198 Improved Join Times: With careful planning and @merk.gg's assistance (sorry for making you go through this), we've ensured that at restart tomorrow morning, the server will immediately swap over to the new content pack. Expect your initial connection time to behave as if it's your first time joining the server. I consolidated nearly 58 individual downloads into just 10. Can you even imagine the trouble your PC had to go through establishing 58 individual connections back-to-back-to-back, potentially dropping one or two when Steam experiences an issue? yeah - no more of that. In real-world tests, we're seeing connection time improvements ranging from 10% to an impressive 200%. At the end of the day, we're still dependent on Steam servers, but these results are a testament that this wasn't for nothing Stay connected for further updates. I will soon be updating our content pack with potentially new playermodels for jobs, weapons (such as knives or skins), and new props in general. Thank you for being part of this journey. We're almost to our 10 year anniversary!

  3. I think it might be a good call to create a system similar to staff reports, where players to use /911 will ping all CPs screens, allowing them to see a beacon of the location. With that being said, how used actually is the /911 command?

  5. @Merk: hey garnet did you know if you press the F8 button on your keyboard, followed by the tilda key, and then you turn your mouse 73 degrees counter-clockwise and /advert a Raid, it will actually make the fading door get teleported 18 pixels back, which is just enough to peak through and gain a HUGE advantage against a raider. This is what working with Merk feels like.

New format for the new year, so I can spend more time developing, and less time writing 18 update posts a month December was EXTREMELY productive for StarwarsRP with tons of new features Citadel System Aa citadel system has been added to promote players to train during the downtime on our server! Before you start screaming about how this system is broken, please be aware you MUST claim the claimboard located outside of Citadel prior to initiating a simulation Once this is done, players can interact with the physical console This console will pop up a very neat and easy-to-ready UI showing them what simulations are available (officers, feel free to use these for tryouts) From that point on, all AI will be automatically spawned, and the simulation is ready to go! K - Company This new battalion has been added as part of 327th as a response for their high activity and dedication for their role. K Company carry similar markings to 327th, but a little bit classier :^) I also made peepeepoopoo colored lore characters, IE: Bly - who look like he got pooped on, pissed on, then put through a cheesegrater. Christmas Collection Released a month-long collection called the Christmas Collection, featuring a Frostbitten outfit, as well as the Gift and Knitted helmets. The recipe to obtain these was fairly cheap at about $6,000 in-game, which allowed all players to obtain as many tokens as desired, good call @AlexConway The recipe was: 3x Durasteel, 3x Bronzium, 3x Hypercloth, 3x Roll of Synthmesh Fleet Ships Dynamic Ship Destruction Rewards When it comes to automated quests, the rewards given out for destroying large fleet ships has been hugely revamped, The following rewards will be split amongst those who contributed to the destruction of CIS equipment Sensor Array - 500 credits Anti Air Turret - 750 credits CIS Weapon Systems - 1000 credits CIS Communications - 1750 credits Core - 2500 credits Munificent - 5000 credits Providence - 6000 credits Subjugator - 7500 credits Additionally, attacking friendly ships will now also give you a FINE Acclamator - 2000 credits fine Arquitens - 5000 credits fine venator - 6000 credits fine Victory - 7500 credits fine Be stupid now Armed Ships CIS event ships are no longer just frozen ships in the sky with health, but dynamic entities that will shoot back at players, at complete random. Making fighting them for the reward challenging and require teamwork. Mini Map A minimap has been added onto the server - a heavily modified version of the very popular "GMap", with the commands /map to toggle, and /mapconfig to set your automation binds through a menu This map was so severely optimized, you would only lose out on about 10% of your FPS (which still sounds very high, but believe it or not, it's VERY low for a map) Added support for "Droids" so they will pop up as a red dots on your minimap Added support for Fleet ships, so if those are spawned, your minimap re-generates itself that was you can see them and their movement (primarily for event purposes) Job Change Screen When changing roles, rather than just vanishing into the ground, and teleporting back up to the surface of the moon, players' screens will now instead neatly fade to black, then fade back into reality when they're spawned into their new role, for a prettier transition. With all that being said, December was a productive month for DarkRP, we fixed extremely important bugs, and got the server stable for more content in the months to come Seasonal Map Our server for the month of December has largely been on Downtown X-Mas I hope all of you have had a fun holiday, spending time with the community. Bank Robbery System Alyx is now whitelisted as a team allowed to rob the bank Second floor of the bank is unreachable (used as a cheap way of hiding outside the robbery range) Bank vault has been raised from 150k to 250k CPs now get a payout based off of how full the vault is when taking down a robbery suspect, they also get a significant amount of XP based off of the money in the vault too. Removed the ability for bank robbers to commit suicide. Missions A new way to earn standard pointshop points! Once a day, players will be given 4 unique chores to complete (with new ones to come) upon completing those, you will gain a pre-defined amount of Standard Pointshop Points, depending upon the severity of the task! Miscellaneous Mayor Role Cooldown extended from 90 seconds (1.5 minute) to 300 (5 minutes) following an assassination Hitman Role Created automatically generated hits, in order to keep hitmen entertained, even when players aren't necessarily interacting with them Bugs & Exploits Unbox System Fixed duplication exploit associated with item quantities Prostitute Set a cooldown on territorial disputes, players can no longer spam this feature. Medic NPC Fixed exploit which allowed you to purchase health and armor from anywhere on the map Party System Corrected issue where players could kill party members from spawn Fixed friendly-fire feature No Collided Props Fixed an issue where players could turn their prop into a no-collided prop by parenting its physical properties to the dumpster trash items Explosives Now cause self-damage as a rule, in order to avoid cheap raids where players would simply shoot themselves in the foot Automated Hitman Hits Corrected issue where players in spawn would be elected for an automated hit Radio Fixed exploit that allowed malicious individuals to spam URLs onto the Radio Custom Job Names The /job command now checks for invalid text, such as !@#$%^&*( when attempting to set to a custom role name, in order to avoid exploitation Missions Corrected issue where some invidual's screen resolution would render them unable to view the interactive missions menu /makeshipment Removed the declaration of this command, because it allowed players to broadcast it globally (oops)
  8. I wish all you Garfield Gamers happy holidays; whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, or nothing at all! I hope you take this time to relax at home, with a break from everyday work or school. Our management team extends their warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season to all you players who have supported us over the years. This brings me onto 4 fucking phenomenal things to announce. StarwarsRP We have managed to have the server online for exactly 1 year today, I would love to have a big celebration, but realistically, everybody will be celebrating the holidays with their family - and I don't want anybody to feel obligated to sit infront of their monitors this holiday season, so I will reserve this huge celebration to a later date (early January). Our server is BY A HUGE margin the most content-filled server in the category, over-developed to even make me question if we should make our own stand-alone game in a different engine, with everything we've got going This trend will NOT slow down anytime soon, instead, our server will continue to get new items for our character customization system, more optimizations, and new features, such as MMO-style quests! DarkRP What can I say? we got rid of MANY problematic people who abused our community to no-end over the past few months - we have effectively been cleansing the server of bad individuals. For nearly 2 years, we had a server sitting at 128/128 (which is very impressive) however, atleast 40 of those would be just 5 individuals and their alts, destroying our server's economy and selling their in-game currency for Crypto/Venmo/PayPal cash. This tore into our community, and previous leaderships actively encouraged this behavior to continue, because that was their easiest way of demonstrating they did a good job at maintaining high numbers for our population - unfortunately while doing 0 to prevent this behavior from being exploited via selling this cash. Well, now that these individuals are banned, and our new server leadership consists of @Derpza and @Merk, I have found that it is far more fun to play with 60-90 GENUINELY active members who are doing things other than mass-printer farming within their base walls. Our server is one of the most stable servers in the category at this point in time, I am actively fixing exploits with the help of our managers, you can get on knowing there's 128 players online, and yet still get 300/300FPS . This server has been a staple of ours, and will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary in about 8 months! There is a potential DarkRP 2.0 server coming up sometimes soon, which will blow any other DarkRP server in the category out of the water, with an extreme amount of custom content if you want to know what it'll look like, join our StarwarsRP server to get an idea. (HINT: Character customization) MilitaryRP With the help of @Ozzy (who as it turns out will unfortunately be leaving our community to carry on with life next month), I have decided to bring the server back on its feet, with the most unique content that anybody has seen in the MilitaryRP category - genuinely. I am so thrilled to announce this significant leap forward; not only branching into the "Nutscript" gamemode and away from DarkRP, but also the sheer amount of content we will provide. This much-anticipated revamp of our old server is anticipated to have an open-beta shortly. We will no longer have 2 sides just fighting a glorified TDM match that spans 30 minutes, but we will also have civilians running around taking care of their everyday life, fishing, manufacturing drugs, delivering main, and many more tasks... This attempt would have not been possibly without @AlexConway who stepped in when I started feeling overwhelmed with Ozzy's inevitable departure, and started questioning whether the server should even be brought back. Conway has shown an INSANE commitment and visions for what the server should and could be, bringing a breath of fresh air to the team,leading me to.. (and I can't believe I'm writing this) Welcoming Our community's Second-in-Command, @AlexConway This little rodent has been on-and-off my best friend in the community for a few years, we have gone through more heartbreaks and periods of blocking eachother than even your parents - and it's hard to believe we're here . Just 8 months ago if you told me that Conway will one day be the second highest figure in this community, i'd tell you to lay off the pipe (and that I can't believe he's unbanned in the first place) but here we are today. Conway has been a member of our community for a VERY long time (I believe 7 years at this point) always showing an interest in growing the community as a whole, and expanding. Since rekindling our friendship last year, and after nearly a full year of his FULL dedication to StarwarsRP by heavy restructures and bringing it up a notch in terms of content/management/overall professionalism, I'm for once finding that I'm able to take a step back from my PC when needed, while resting assured that everything is in working order because Conway has it handled. Not only this, but no matter what time of the day it is, if I post "HEY GUYS, I NEED HELP" across the DarkRP, Military, and StarwarsRP discords, 9/10 Conway is the first one to message back saying "What do you need?" - even when he's at work. This has been the case since his return, and it's been SUCH A NICE CHANGE. Alex, your contributions have been on a complete different level from any previous leadership we've had, you spend the extra time training people to take positions as you see fit (rather than trying to assume full control of a given server) and this brand new approach has paid tons of dividends, as our SWRP and DRP servers have an incredibly friendly team of staff with minimal problems (as compared to the past) knowing they can reach out to myself and you for a second opinion as needed. In addition to this, using you for second opinions has always proved to be the right approach, as atleast in my scenario, you seem to know exactly how to tweak something I worked on to make it look that much nicer - (I assume this is because you're homosexual), but regardless, thank you for all the countless hours spent moving a UI 3 pixels over, just so it's "PERFECTLY ALIGNED". I'm looking forward to our future working on the community together (half homo), and hopefully soon, branching into FiveM . On some more personal news, pertaining to what I had written about Conway above, I finally have enough freedom from the server to where after 4 years and a pandemic, I will be returning back to college in this upcoming Summer semester to hopefully become a Physical Therapist (fingers crossed I get accepted). I also picked up a part-time job where I teach guitar some days of the week, which will be such a nice change, reclaiming my life after 10 years of nearly consistent 70-100 hours a week of staring at a PC screen, working on Garry's Mod and Rust servers. Mob Boss Hits To keep our hitmen busy, the Mob Boss will now automatically assign hits on players on the server, currently with 10-30 minute intervals Hobo Donation Box Those can now be Physgunned/Frozen by their hobo owners. Now start collecting donations! VIP Perks VIPs now get an extra textscreen to decorate their businesses, or just put down a goofy ass KOS line like a loser. Donator Items We've added the two missing COD Ghost knives onto our server. Thank you to those who support the server monetarily! Deliveryman This role is now accessible from level 1. System & Gameplay Improvements Hitman System Overhaul I've recoded large parts of the hitman system for better performance on the back-end of the server Physgun Freeze Staff can now right-click freeze players while using the physgun. Admin Tools L.Admins now carry the same permissions for /removeprop as managers+ Improved Logging The hitman system logging is now more reliable; and will also display correct information in the event of a completed hit Bug Fixes & Exploit Patches NoClip Exploitation I've looked into several issues that could arise from (surprisingly) abusive staff, that'd allow players to be granted noclip permissions with a list of a few malicious steps. As a result, I've recoded a portion of our admin mod (D3A) to patch these issues! DJ Radio It has been brought to my attention that exploiters are able to access the DJ's radio and modify it, I've recoded portions of the code to add extra security for the radios as a result Hopefully this bug has been squashed. HUD Textures Those missing textures on the HUD? Fixed them - no longer will you have to stare at purple and black checkers. Advanced Duplicator 2 Duplicator can no longer spawn in nocollided props. A Big Thank You! Your feedback and reports make these updates possible. Keep them coming.   13. Yeah, running an alt is super feasible for most, with that being said, I could make a VERY short visibility secondary textscreen.
  14. Even when this was brought up as a VIP idea months ago I wasn't super in favor of it, believe it or not, textscreens tend to eat up FPS despite being such simple things. Hence their low render distance.

I'm so sorry to personally shut this suggestion down, and I do thank you for going out of your way to write it, HOWEVER, I don't think things should always necessarily be readily available/attainable. I very much intended on pointshop standard points being a hard thing to obtain. Standard points are literally a free version of a paid offering on our server, as such, I want to make them have alot more weight than just.. "I robbed the bank and now I have 5k points". I think we should keep the idea of.. if you want points, be active or AFK overnight on the server. There's an ongoing holiday? be prepared for a HUGE amount of points during the event.

Model Design Studios Our new service whereby I offer our population to design their own playermodel (within reason) is nearly up Our first model - Daph - created for @AlexConway's Naval life is loaded on the server and taking up only 2mb of downloads (or roughly half a second of extra downloads if you've got slow internet) Jedi Hilts & Crystals All items that modify your max force have been updated and will now correctly update your max force power Forcepowers The following have been recoded and should be fully operational without any bugs: Saber Throw, Adrenaline, and Cloak!

You had initially claimed you did this all for @stretchy - who by the way, as far as I'm aware is not mad at the community or has any bad blood with me, he simply got busy IRL (which made you upset enough to mass???) and now it's due to an anti-cheat? you just make no sense. Regardless, GMod has no anti-cheat, so get lost lol.
