  1. Neutral I think Nutter has summarised my position on this: I'm in favour of all of the jobs being sorted alphabetically, as this would of course be very helpful when finding a job. However with the categorisation of the jobs, I don't see a big reason to change them as they stand, they are intuitive and in-line with the majority of other DarkRP servers. A 'Dealer Category' sometimes exists separately, and I don't mind if that is added, but it would also work just as well under the 'Citizen Category' as a gun dealer is still a citizen. I don't see a need for a defensive category, because a bouncer is still a citizen, and so is a security guard.
  2. Neutral The pop-up only asks if you'd like to join the lottery, and you can either click 'No', or after a few seconds it disappears automatically if you don't want to play. I don't find it much of an issue personally and I rarely play the lotto. With that said, if others find it especially annoying then I can see a reason to support this suggestion and allow them to turn the notifications off. ^ This is ironically a good reason to keep things as they are. It's far better to loose RP cash in order to learn this important lesson than to go-on and make the same mistake IRL- it teaches the importance of setting limits and playing for fun, not for profit. The gambling adverts IRL aren't going to go away anytime soon. I see both positive and negative reasons for this suggestion, and so overall I'll stick to neutral for now.
  3. -1 This has been brought up previously and denied. The voice line has remained the same since its creation, and is actually snippets from this video of a random guy shouting at his cat: This is DarkRP after all.... and it's a lot less dark than it used to be! The world has become a little too sensitive these days IMO Edit: Just wanted to add, I think if YouTube allows this video to remain live on their site, I see no reason for it to be taken away from DarkRP. Yes, the YouTube video is age restricted, but so is GMod - and it warns of violence and profanity.
  4. -1 While I'm not fully in agreement with the original suggestion, I do see a slightly different suggestion which would be pretty cool: Allow hitman classes to choose if they would like to disguise themselves as people they have killed - taking on the player-model of a cop (for arguments sake) which they killed in a previous hit, but with their job remaining as "Hitman" and a rule added to prevent them from changing their job name while in disguise. This would mean that at a glance, they look like a cop, but if you took a closer look you'd see their job is actually a hitman, keeping a fair balance which wouldn't be too OP while allowing for an interesting and unique play-style. This could simply be added to all current hitman classes, rather than making a new one.
  5. +1 (To suggestion 1) I think it makes sense to add an assistant, however I think only one person should be able to play videos, so the assistant is there purely to tend the counter and look after the cinema. Having two people play videos increases the possibility of minging. As it stands, we can simply check who the cinema owner was when a 'bad' video was played, making it a lot easier for the staff team to manage. -1 (To suggestion 2) While I do see the benefits of this on face-value, there have actually been some great movies that people have played in the cinema which could amount to a high-cost, and if there aren't many people watching, it could deter the cinema owner playing anything other than 2 min videos - remembering that they have a max price of entry regardless of what's playing, meaning they will choose to make less profit for playing better content. It seems possibly detrimental to the quality of the content overall.
  6. Neutral In practice this is functionally the same as increased armour. I'm not completely opposed to the idea, but I'm not sure I see the benefits.
  7. +1 It makes sense, so that it aids as a quick reference for players to find them more easily. I've handled sits in the past where I'd say something like "Your RDM sign is too small" and have to guide them to where it's mentioned in the rules, which takes some time. This way I could say "Check out rule 33" (I made that number up lol) but they could then quickly scroll to see where it's mentioned. Much easier.
  8. +1 This is exactly my thoughts, I have a lot of weapons that I will never use, and would honestly rather sell / give them away to someone else who would benefit from them. I think all of the !unbox weapons should be droppable, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be. That way any unwanted items could be sold / given to gun dealers or to new players who'd have a use for them
  9. Neutral While I see all of the benefits this could bring, I have a sense of nostalgia with the way things currently work. This is undoubtedly a slick system and does fix a lot of issues, but despite that, I kinda like the property system the way it is. It's not a popular opinion and hardly a 'good' reason to dislike this, so I won't give this suggestion a -1. I think I'll just stay neutral for now.
  10. -1 I don't really see a problem with auto-hits on hobos. In RP terms, perhaps the mob boss wants to rid the streets of homeless who are turning customers away from his restaurant, if the restaurant ain't busy, how's the boss supposed to launder all his money through it? The feds will smell something fishy with a highly profitable business that never has any customers, and that ain't the sort of attention the boss needs. I think overall, removing the hobo only serves to set a precedent for other classes. I mean what did the citizen do to deserve a hit? Or the chef? I think the same argument could be used in many cases, and it would ultimately mean that very few classes are 'deserving' of a hit. These auto-hits help keep the hitman engaged, so when a player comes to actually place a hit, there's someone around to take it on.
  11. +1 Did a super job previously in the staff team, has really decent hours on the server, never had any issues with you, no recent bans / warns... overall great! I have to say, while it's awesome getting high sit-counts, if you're going too crazy you WILL get burned out eventually, it happens so often. The longest-standing staff members are those that balance their time well. Taking 500 sits in a month and then retiring is worse than taking 150-200 a month and still being around in 6 months time; if everyone did that, we'd have plenty of staff to chip-in and make up the difference I wish you the best of luck mate!
  12. +1 Out of all the reasons that people want to join the staff team, this to me is among the best and most respectable! I couldn't have said it better either. However this is concerning, but I'm glad you've been up-front and honest about it. You'd be surprised how many people join the server to minge, and end up regretting their decision and wanting to stick around. Often, the person who gets hurt the most by minging is in-fact the person minging - getting banned from servers for weeks at a time is quite a hefty price to pay for 5 mins of 'fun'. As this was some time ago now, I don't think it's worth saying much more, and you've demonstrated self-reflection which is a positive. It's great to see that you have previous staffing experience, and it's awesome that you managed to climb the ranks quite quickly! That experience will certainly serve you well. You have good hours too, and so overall I like the reasons that you have given for wanting to join the team and I think you could certainly do a decent job. I wish you the best of luck!
  13. +1 I totally understand why it was put in, as AJ has mentioned. However I think there's a good middle ground option: What if the collect cooldown only applied per printer? So in other words if you collected from printer A, you could then immediately go on to collect from printer B, then printer C, and so on; however if you were to try and spam-collect, then the individual cooldowns for each printer would act the way they do now in order to prevent it? A collect cooldown per printer instance, rather than per player. Just to further that thought, what about scrapping the cooldown timer entirely and replacing it with a minimum collection value where the money inside the printer must be over say 1k (negotiable)? if it's under that amount, the collect button is greyed-out to intuitively show you can't collect yet, perhaps with a chat message. This would achieve the same and possibly be easier to implement.
  14. Take care Ghostie! Sad to see you leave the team, you've been there since I first joined, a true OG and an allround great guy
  15. Me: *Spends 6 hours in TeamSpeak without hearing a word* TS: "Chris, are you there?" Me: *Looks around in game, checks Discord, looks under the bed, looks in wardrobe* Me: *Must be voices in head / supernatural encounter* I think TS was useful at times for getting quick answers etc, but Discord has really taken over. RIP TeamSpeak
  16. For real though, the old logs served us proud for a long time and I have some fond memories using them, but these new logs are a real help (especially in certain cases). Thank you! Keep up the awesome work
  17. +1 (To replacing Deadshot) I think it would be a cool idea to add this, but as others have said, maybe it's better to replace Deadshot instead of adding another class - unless it's vastly different to the others
  18. -1 While I do see the benefits in theory, unfortunately there's some major issues with implementing a rule like this: How would a raider know the base is owned by a level 10-15 player? Do they have to check the TAB menu for each raid against the door owner? What If a level 10 was basing with a level 20 player? A new unraidable-base meta would emerge where you could just ask a level 10 to own the doors to a base and hey presto, raid-free base! New players would be discouraged to level-up, they could just ask others to collect from the printers and hand over the cash, so they can stay raid-free forever If a new player has never been raided, it's likely they may not have gone through the trial-and-error stage of base design, it only delays this process meaning level 16 is the new, new. We all expect to be somewhat 'bad' the first time we play a game, and so our expectations of success are lower than after we have played for a number of hours, so it could arguably be more frustrating later on As you say, it's more of an unwritten rule where if you know someone is new, you try not to give them a hard time. I think making it a written rule is tricky though and could potentially lead to more issues than it prevents. I think it's possibly better to encourage high-level players to base with new players, so that new players can pick up on the knowledge of veterans while also forming deeper relationships with the community
  19. +1 I think this sounds like an awesome idea! Just a thought though, what if the black-market dealer also sold a 'stolen police radio' for criminals to listen into? Only an idea, but I like this either way.
  20. -1 As TDizz mentioned, you can simply set a timer for half an hour when you install your coolers. I think I mentioned in another suggestion that Google's timer is fantastic, just have it in the background and it will beep when it's up, plus you can have tabs for different timers (one for the 2 hour claimed printers that you raided, another for your coolers, another for the printers you bought for 5 hours, etc). I also feel that the server is coming away from AFK farming and trying to encourage more active gameplay.
  21. Explosives are definitely blocked through walls, but I think a lot of people used to shield their breakable windows with glass to prevent the splash damage from seeping through, so I'm not sure if it apply to windows (breakable ones that is)? If there's some way of adding something for the windows, that would be a really useful advantage for small bases which would apply equally to new and old players I think the price increase for rockets would really help, or even if you were to add single RPG rounds to the !unbox system perhaps? That way they would become a highly sort-after rare item, a bit like in Rust, launchers are abundant but everyone is looking for more rockets! I much prefer Merk's idea of a purchasable 'Rocket Shield' from the F4 menu over using glass as a defence against explosives. A rocket shield would be more intuitive to new players, it took me a while before I realised why people used glass on their bases when I first joined and initially assumed it was to keep an eye on who was lingering around outside lmao. It wouldn't have to be expensive either, and you could limit the size / quantity allowable too?
  22. It's an interesting point, and I agree with most of what you've said. I think there needs to be some sort of change, it's just finding the right solution to this. To me, the first thing that comes to mind is a map update, whereby all small bases have some invisible barrier in front of the windows / doors that prevents splash damage from passing through. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it seems feasible, like an invisible no-collide wall of sorts? Garnet would be able to shed some light on that I'd imagine but this would protect all of the smaller base areas, allow people to keep explosives, and larger bases would remain the same. If that doesn't work, my next idea would be to make the ammo a lot more expensive than it currently is. This would mean raiders could still use RPG's if they want to, but the cost of firing 5 rockets would deter them from making it a regular thing. You could also look at making the RPG's rarer too, so players are less likely to pull it out at every opportunity, and perhaps opt for other means. I personally don't like the idea of getting rid of explosives altogether, I appreciate that lower-level players don't have them straight off the bat (which is fair) because it's always been exciting trying to work towards getting RPG's, Matadors, etc. As you say, if people want to put time into farming then they can also buy themselves an RPG, or have a laugh doing some !unbox crates.
  23. +1 I like this idea. I've never been a fan of clans in general, but I think a lot of the negativity comes from a small minority who poison group chats (clan leaders be aware and keep on top of it) but I feel like if there was something like this, there would be a better reason for clans to be around and have something constructive to work towards while also being a good laugh! Maybe weekly / monthly events to see which clan is on top?
  24. Neutral +1 I like the reasons that you have given for wanting to join the staff team, and while helping new players can be done realistically by anyone, you often find that you have a greater impact on new players by spending the time to help them setup their base, be an efficient meth cook, and otherwise give them tips and tricks as a staff member during their reports. I think you show a genuine care, and if you stay true to the reason you joined the team, it's likely that you will inspire others to do the same in the future That said, I generally say it's best to wait for warns to expire before applying, it's only 2 weeks from when they were issued, but you otherwise have a clean record with no prior bans which is positive. My reason for not giving a +1 is that your account is a bit odd. Your profile is private (fair enough) but it's 5 years old, has been completely inactive up until 18 days ago when you decided to start playing again, almost solely on Garnet DarkRP with a couple of hours elsewhere. The vast majority of your activity since the accounts creation 5 years ago, has been on Garnet DarkRP in the last 18 days. It just strikes me as odd? Could you shed some light on why this may be? Edit: Following DONTTOUCHMYFROG87's response (see below) and a message that he sent me, a fair point was made, that his activity doesn't include single-player games or private lobbies which he may have made with friends. After staffing in Rust and using Battlemetrics constantly during that time, I began to develop a 'sense' for potential alt accounts, which tended to be old / bought accounts which had been created and 'sat on' for some time with almost no activity, until they suddenly became very active one day - however it's really important to remember that the stats are not fool-proof and are only an indicator that needs further exploration (hence my neutral response initially) and that totally legitimate players may well have just been playing games which are not covered by the data that BM uses. I think that now, having read DONTTOUCHMYFROG87's response, that he is indeed completely genuine, and as a result I have changed my response here to a +1.
  25. +1 You've got a decent application, I like the reasons that you have given for wanting to join the team. Of course it goes without saying that your past behaviour is a bit of a worry, but in fairness you have been completely up-front and honest about everything, it's all from the distant past; plus you have Gildarts approval (and of course other staff references which are also great). I don't really know you personally, and so I can only judge your application based on what you and others have said here. I think that it's very possible that you have indeed changed as you say, especially with the reassurance of the MRP SA of back when you used to play. Your application is good, your hours are good, your previous experiences as staff are good, so overall I'm happy to give you my support. I wish you the best of luck!
