  1. It's been a while, I usually come on the forums to lurk every once and a while to check up on how things are doing, and tonight I just wanted to make a post and see how everyone was doing. I don't play GMOD anymore (or play any games in general for that matter) but this community was a big part of my life growing up as a teenager. The server and this community in general got me through some lonely times in my life, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm glad to see that it's still doing well and that it's still kicking, and it's always nice to see familiar names I remember when I played pop up on here.

     

    I remember being 14 and working my way up to being the second "General of the Army", and feeling so accomplished. I honestly think that this server really shaped me into the person I am today, it sounds dumb but I really do think it helped me learn a lot of life skills in terms of leadership and building connections with people when I didn't really have anywhere else to turn to learn those things. Also met a lot of cool people because of this community, I haven't really kept in contact with a lot of them but I still think about them a lot from time to time.

     

    I guess as a little mini update on myself for those who care, I've been focusing on myself and working on improving myself both physically and mentally. I've been devoting myself to weightlifting & bodybuilding in general, and I've pretty much fallen in love with the gym.

     

    Guess I just wanted to make an appreciation post more than anything, was feeling nostalgic and just wanted to say thank you @Nutter

  2. That kill card feature is amazing, it tells you the hp the person you were killed by was at so you can mald at close fire fights even more. Could you hypothetically make ones that unlock when you hit a certain prestige or hit a certain amount of kills total? Lots of potential with that ngl though lol. Great update thanks Garnet

  3. Damn looks really good! Great job so far, can't wait to see what it looks like when it's further along. That US base was probably one of my favorite layouts, glad to see it making a return.

     

    Would it be possible to make all the buildings in town have lighting? I remember it having ridiculously dark spots, I think it ruins the combat gameplay a lot with people just hiding in dark corners and camping there the entire war. Having all the objectives have lit up lighting makes them infinitely better in my opinion.

     

    Don't know how similar this map is to v3, but I kind of like the idea of replacing the globe:

    (forget what the name of it was lul) with an actual tower structure in similar shape to it, kind of like how Silo was on delta I think it was? Can't remember what map that was on. Maybe add a similar one near afghan base so it evens it out, rather than just have one nearer the US base. Might be a dumb idea, but just trying to spitball lol.

  4. Yeah unfortunately outright refunds aren’t allowed/against the ToS of Garnet Gaming. Once you make the purchase you agree it’s final and refunds (via credits or real money) cannot occur unless given explicit permission by Garnet, which very rarely ever happens. Charging back will result in a ban from the server as well, just so you know in case you didn’t know and tried to charge back.

     

    Although since your asking for it via credits maybe he will, no clue tbh lol.

  5. I mean I'm sure you mean well, but this appeal reads like a sob story.

     

    Your first appeal you don't even acknowledge what you did, you just try to pretend that you did nothing wrong and you don't know what you did. Your second appeal you acknowledge your mistake, but then try to weasel your way out of the DarkRP ban by saying what you did didn't affect that community, only the MRP community.

     

    And now with this ban appeal, all you've done is say you know you don't deserve a second chance, and that you should be unbanned because you used to do so much for the DarkRP community, which in reality none of us from MRP really care about.

     

    I personally wouldn't even really give a fuck if you were unbanned, because it's been so long since your ban I know you wouldn't hack again. But you not even saying "I'm sorry for what I've done" or "I humbly ask for forgiveness" in the THREE unban appeals you've made, leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. -1.

  6. I think the espionage idea is a really good idea, however I don’t think it being behind a paywall is. It should be a specialization people in each T2/T1 fac can earn/tryout for.  It’d add some more RP opportunities which is always a good thing. I think if Garnet & Bizzy can find a suitable way to integrate it, it would be a really fun thing to have on the server.

    In what way was it abused? Was he moving people out of channels he shouldn’t have been or something? Can’t remember what perms you get with that role lol

    oh thank god, 33% felt so goddamn fast. Hopefully this'll make it more balanced between being able to move to OBJ's faster, without everyone also moving at the speed of light lmao.

    ^ this figure can always be cut down, but I think full damage is a good way of encouraging players to not be dumb with their explosives ^

     

    This is gonna be interesting to see in game, I'm definitely gonna get some 2016 flashbacks lmao. Can't throw my nades willy nilly know though sadge, hopefully I remember this is a thing before I accidentally kill 4 of my own teammates and get banned lul.

  9. Yeah HDR is always hell to work with, but makes maps look so much better lol. It looks really good with that skybox too though, hopefully you can figure out why it causes models to glow.

     

    One thing I am a little concerned about basing from the photos is the darkness in some areas, especially the caves. In my opinion large areas that are dark gives the defender so much of an advantage and makes sieging areas very difficult to do, it makes the PvP feel annoying. Might just be a me thing, but I remember it being a huge annoyance on Embassy on the map that was on before the one we're currently on. Just wanted to throw this out here so it's known lol.

  10. Yeah unfortunately there's always going to be those people who always single out something they don't like it and make a big deal out of it. Overall very exciting update, can't wait to see how this new war type plays. Also can't wait to see how well the optimizations will be for FPS, as I think that's something a lot of people currently struggle with right now on the server.

     

    Also being able to toggle donation weapons? Holy shit I've been wanting this for literal years lmao. These current & upcoming qol changes + gameplay additions have got me very hyped ngl. Thanks for the hard work Garnut.

  11. I do have some concerns on the recent additions to the reserve system, mainly due to the fact there was no public announcement on these changes on the forums or the discord (to my knowledge). Has Theos given any reasoning on why these changes were made? It seemed like the original way they were done before worked perfectly fine, only having one or two people vote on if someone should get reserves or not really doesn't make any sense to me. There's obviously always going to be some bias no matter how unbias someone thinks they are, it's just the way people are. Theos really needs to start explaining his reasonings on why he does things or doesn't do things, this guessing game is getting pretty old.

     

    “Faction Leaders can only authorize reserves for Officers that served under them during their current term. The only exception is authorising the reserves of their predecessor.”

     

    This change I can kind of understand, if no one knows what that officer/leader did back then or how they acted then you don't know for sure if they earned the reserves. It sucks, but it personally makes sense to me. Kind of annoying that reserves have been wiped over the years, I've lost my army reserves completely because of it even though I've sank a degenerate amount of time into the faction. However literally no one knows how I was back in 2018 or 2016, so people wouldn't be able to accurately judge if I am a good candidate to have 11A reserves or not.

    Genuinely don't understand the logic on this one. Like stated earlier, only letting 1-2 people vote on if someone should get reserves is BOUND to have some bias in the answer. It is insanely difficult for someone to keep an unbiased opinion, and no offense but I don't have enough trust in Theos' judgement to know he isn't going to be bias in the future. Honestly staff votes are also going to be biased probably, but at least there are more than just 2 people making the decision so it's less likely to affect the outcome. I honestly want this change to be reverted the most.

     

    “Reserves are automatically revoked if the player is in, or joins, another Faction on the same side. (e.g. lose GB Reserves if you join Rangers)”

     

    I have mixed feelings on this one, honestly. I think they changed it to be this way so it prevents people from dual factioning on a faction they have reserves on and their current main faction, which makes sense. However, this is the only reward players really get for dedicating so much time into a faction. To me it seems kind of fucked up to take it away if someone has sank so much time into a faction and they can't even enjoy playing on it once and a while if they decide to join another faction on the same side. If there were more "rewards" for resigning faction officers/leaders then I wouldn't really mind this change as much, but it really is the only thing people have to look forward too when they resign as thanks for them helping the faction so much.

     

    Overall I'm kind of hesitant to side with anyone because we haven't heard anything from Theos or why he made these changes, these are just my first opinions looking at the changes. I'd love to hear why Theos made these changes though.
