Bitcoin Miners

This has been talked about a lot, so I'm going to suggest it with a bit of a twist (if possible)

So people have talked about adding bitcoin miners or other methods of getting $$$$.

I see this as kind of silly since money printers are virtually the same thing but here is my idea when It comes to this.

Have a bitcoin rig that can hold (1-5) gpus.

Make the rig something you have to buy (Price TBD)

Then make the "gpus" a unbox item that is tradeable.

You have to add the GPU to the miner for it to work

Each gpu adds a % chance of finding a "bitcoin" or a speed increase.

Multiple types of gpus for slower to faster rates ie 5060 vs 5090.

Once mining is started you cannot remove the gpus till you mine a coin (so if your getting raided you cant just pocket them)

Coins are then sold to a bitcoin market which is controlled by the players.

Players buy and sell coins to each other changing the price; This makes a money sink and a variable market.

There can also be a shop added to trade coins for items or perks.

 

That was my basic thought process of this; to make it viable and interesting instead of just mine coin.

It would all depend on if there is a mod that can do this, or if garnet can figure out a way himself. (or if he wants to cause you guys complain about everything)

If its possible, this would be awesome! This suggestion is an engaging way to grind money, inspires player engagement, isn't easy to abuse and is ultimately rewarding for players new and returning

I would be down with this if the gpus were an upgrade instead of an unbox. Imagine you unbox a bunch of good ones put them in a rig just to have something like a false warrant or hell a crash and you would lose an insane amount that wouldn't be refunded.

Thats a risk you take with anything in gmod. So... yeah. You buy a bunch of printers get false raided you don't get refunded. Its how the cookie crumbles.

This is a genuinely good suggestion that fits darkrp really well and gives other alternatives for people to make money on the server aside from printers. Something else to help players earn money helps the newcomers a lot so i’d hope this suggestion gets accepted.

I think this is good for a new in-game money making mechanic. Not to take away from the player to player element, but I feel like an NPC could help facilitate some of the interactions you would have. These NPCs could help you get the miner/parts and also offer as a point of sale. I would make the amount you earn from selling to this npc to be at least 20% less than what you would earn from a player to player sale. This would increase the power of the cash burn mechanism and also offer players an alternative when there is lower player counts or less people roleplaying with miners. I know this isn't a foolproof addition to your idea, but I hope it stirs the pot a bit and helps give a good idea.

As long as it's done in a way that's fun and engaging, I don't really mind the Bitcoin miners. Though unless they were amazing I probably wouldn't use them personally.

I like this idea, seen it on other servers. Obviously needs to be played with on how this EXACTLY is implemented but overall? I agree with the idea and would love to see it added, with the potential in making more money then traditional printers with higher risks, etc. Overheating, maybe being hacked and having money stolen out of them if ya weren't paying attention with security...

To add another way to get money would be very cool when it comes to placeable entities, would add another cool aspect. Or even rework the printers and just have bitcoin miners
