How long were you banned for?: 6 days

What happened? (include any proof):

So I was banned for NITRP when I was telling my opinion about the false advertising on the server title in OOC. Yet I was simply suggesting to change the server title to accurately reflect the content of the server and giving my reasons not to mislead players. I would have posted proof on my end but my unfortunately my GMOD crashed.  Please see your server logs about this incident I was using in-game text chat the entire time.

The server title states: ▶ GarnetGaming.net DarkRP ▌ No Downloads|UNBOX|Vanilla

Lying in a server title is not an ethical way to attract players. It can create a negative impression of the server owner and the server community as a whole. The server has a lot of content that needs to be downloaded, instead of placing 'No Downloads' it should be 'Less Downloads'. Also, this is not a 'Vanilla' server there a lot of modifications and addons on the server. 'Vanilla' in gaming typically refers to a game or game mode that has no modifications or additions. In the context of Garry's Mod (GMOD), "Vanilla DarkRP" refers to the default DarkRP game mode with no additional addons or modifications.

I was simply pointing this out this and the admin seems to not like seeing criticism against the server.

Why should your ban be removed?:

I did not do anything wrong. No warning was issued by any admins or mods to tell me to stop.  I was instantly banned without the admin giving me a chance to defend myself.  I had the intention of roleplaying on this server they falsely assumed I did not.  Luke is biased and should be demoted because the person that reported me was a VIP and they let them properly talk except for me. They assume I had no intention to RP when I did which is very ignorant to assume. Their ability to properly assess this situation, giving a fair admin sit and punishment was poorly done in my opinion.

I was able to type some messages in the chat during the sit but by the time I was trying to properly explain my end of the story I got banned along with my GMOD crashing.  I am hoping a non-biased staff member will deal my report and at least give me the chance to explain myself.

What rules did I break? What was indicating to you I had NITRP in the reports? You need to be more specific.

Also no you didn't that is a lie. No other admin/mod gave me a warning, nor was I teleported or brought to admin sit telling me about the rules I have allegedly broken. You only brought me to ONE admin sit heard the VIP player's story but not mine you just banned me without hesitation. Anyone can claim they said things verbally in game. Even if you did warn me, you should be using the server's warning system instead of giving it verbally. This shows how much of a terrible admin you are.

You could just stop stirring shut up. First in-game, now making it personal on the forums. What part of your appeal screams “I came to role-play!”? All I’ve gathered is that you complained about two words in a server title on a nearly 20 year old game. You kept complaining in OOC. That’s not intending to role-play, it’s just being argumentative over semantics.

How am I 'stirring' up trouble?

I was addressing my reasoning to other players who spoke to me through voice chat and OOC. Being banned for voicing concerns in the OOC chat is not an appropriate response. This behavior discourages players from speaking up and sharing their concerns and views. The forums is also a platform for players to express their views, concerns and feedback. It is not right to dismiss a player's forum post as being 'personal' when the purpose of thread is to raise awareness to management staff about this incident and the issue with the server title. I am hoping a non-biased management level staff will deal with my report and do the right thing.

Besides that, that is some dumb logic to think someone who is 'argumentative' has no intention to roleplay. That is a baseless assumptions, don't assume things. You have no idea about my intentions, you just assumed I had NITRP which is completely false. It's like assuming a player is going to RDM when they did not. I did connect to this DarkRP server with the intention of role playing. I was on the server for some time exploring the map, features and jobs with the intention of roleplay.  Dismissing a player's concerns for NITRP about a server title as "argumentative over semantics" is not a fair assessment.

I was suggesting the server title should be truthful and responding to other players who were talking to me in voice chat and OOC as well as giving my reasoning why the server isn't vanilla and has a lot of downloads. No admin or moderator told me to stop. They could have warned or gagged me then I would have got the message to stop but I was straight up banned. This was handled badly and unfairly by the admin and these claims from Luke about me being verbally warned are completely false - I was never warned by any admin/mod. This is why the server warning system needs to be used in place of verbal warnings because we can never know who is telling the truth (unless someone video records it).

Also just because this server has been doing it for a 20 year old game mode doesn't mean it should continue. The title shouldn't mislead players because it can create a negative impression of the server owner and the server community as a whole. As well it can mislead potential players into joining the server with false expectations, which can lead to frustration and disappointment. Banning and dismissing a player's concerns about the server title and their expression of it on the forums is the not right thing to do.

Accepted

The staff member in question has failed to provide any proof of you breaking any rules.

He will be spoken to about properly gathering evidence before putting through any punishment no matter how minor.

To clarify on a few things in this post, We use verbal warnings more as a friendly reminder for new players who may not know how to play DarkRP very well, For example if a level 5 Gun Dealer gets raided and returns to his base while the raid is active, We would rather explain to them this is not allowed and give them a verbal warning with no formal form of punishment rather then giving them a warn that will last for 2 weeks.

What I would recommend for everything regarding the Server Description, Feel free to start a conversation Under our DarkRP Suggestions SubForum where other players can give input and their own thoughts regarding it.
