the only issue i have with this is how rdm can really screw over a mayor, id be okay with implementing this as long as mods would be able to set u back to Mayor without having to wait. Making the cooldown longer would give so much more power to rdming, for this reason im going to -1 for now but if mods could find a way around this id +1 it.

I was completely caught off guard. I would have never seen myself as the kind of person to get teary eyed or emotional over gmod dupes but this made me tear up a bit. Thank you to everyone who helped with this, it was really really sweet of you all.

    Length of LOA: 1 week

    Reason:

I've never talked about anything personal within online communities because I feel like it's kinda lame and at the end of the day we're all strangers no matter how much we play online games together. However, I could use a place to type this out and I figured where better than my LOA. I'll  leave a TLDR at the bottom of this post if you don't want to read this.

When I was 6 my parents got me a dog for my birthday. My family had known the owners of a ranch that was right up the street for a few years and on that ranch they bred and sold purebred Australian Shepherds. They had recently had a litter of puppies and on my birthday my parents took me to the ranch and let me choose any puppy I wanted to take back home. Around a year later my parents got another purebred Australian Shepherd so that we could start breeding Aussies at our ranch. After another year and a half, my family started breeding and selling our own puppies. We only ever bred and sold 3 litters with 20 total pups. However, out of those 20 puppies we only sold 19. In the third and last litter was a puppy that I had grown attached to. So attached that whenever a customer would come to the ranch to take a look at our puppies I would take my pup away from the others and go hide him in my room. Over the month many customers came to look at the puppies and we managed to sell all but one of them. The one that wasn't sold wasn't because he wasn't cute or playful enough, but rather because I would take and hide him from customers. After begging and begging I finally got my parents to cave and let me keep him. I was 9 when the dog was born and was taking Karate at the time. Me taking Karate mixed with the fact that the puppy's coat was all white with one black stripe on his waste led me to naming him "Blackbelt." Me and Blackbelt became incredibly close over the years. He would prefer to sleep in my room as opposed to my parents room with all the other dogs, when I was in high school he loved to stay outside with me until 1 or 2am some nights while I smoked joints while my parents were sleeping, whenever I had a party or kickback he would hang around until everyone either left or went to sleep. Whenever things got tough in life, whether I was going through petty drama between friends, going through a breakup, failed an exam, or was just sad, I would always go home at the end of the day and spend time with him, every day. I'm 21 now and we've been inseparable since I was 9. Unfortunately over the past year and a half Blackbelt has been suffering through brain cancer. These past 2 weeks specifically have been incredibly hard on him as his symptoms have gotten exponentially worse. Over the past 2 weeks he has had 2 seizures and suffered a stroke. After the stroke he had gained facial paralysis in the left side of his face, a few days later the paralysis spread to both sides of his face and jaw. Because of this, he has had a hard time eating a drinking water due to him not being able to close his mouth. He also wasn't able to close his eyes leading to his left eye to dry out and go blind. After arguing with myself for the past week I realized that there wasn't much left to wait for. He had gotten so bad and it was only getting worse. Today I made one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make before. I took him to the vet and had him put to rest. He was one of the closest friends I've ever had, as corny as it sounds saying this about a dog I truly considered him family. I feel like I could use some time away from staffing, I'll still be on the server but I don't want to have to deal with minges and petty arguments over whether or not someone was "in your base" when you shot him.

TLDR: My dog has passed away and I feel like I need time away from staffing

Here's a link to an imgur post with 5 picture of Blackbelt, just felt like leaving this here.

I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH.

With that being said, if Nutter feels like coding it in (and preferably avoiding all the bugs like players losing all of there money, not to mention gear not being given back)

These are actual concerns. (also vip vs non vips in this challenge, vips being able to upgrade printers-whereas nonvips have to trust a player into their base in order for them to get upgrades)
Two maxed printers will net you 200k an hour
10mil/200k=50 hours. (if i did my math correctly)
So basically, youd have to grind for atleast a day straight doing constant meth/crack to make up that lost hour. And another thing-whats to stop players from getting on alts, or having their friends spawn in stoves for them to cook (meaning depending on whose trying the challenge, only one person would be able to actually do it due to limitation on income)

Server resetting every other day is the main constraint here.

Again, Im all for this idea, I love it alot and would love to be able to flex an extra cosmetic. I'm just worried it might be a bit hard for Nutter to code in.

    +1

Understandable but thats why I’m suggesting that during this challenge a player should only be able to collect from their own printer and not be able to claim other printers, I think that would help a lot with what you’re bringing up

Also remember to disable !unbox and the ability to claim money by clicking ‘’e’’ on it. !credits should also be disabled. I’ll try to think of other breaking things I can think of so it can actually be playable. I’ll update this thread.

    Agreed, make this a struggle

Okay so why are we trying to eliminate Alt farming when it is the main reason the server can even hit the pop it does? Alt farming is literally the ONLY way to make a lot of money quickly. Every other money making method doesn’t even come close to it. Why not make some different ways of making GOOD money so that there can be ways to compete? Why remove Alt farming without substituting in different ways to make money and keep engagement? Could the content of the server also be a point of interest?

I think a lack of content is what causes credit trading. For instance back in 2019 when I was finally done with everything on the server, (Got a CC with ingame, large amount of liquid cash and a lot of bases) What do I do? There is nothing for me to buy with my money (No titles, no group system, no clan system, no perks system), literally nothing for me to invest the money I earn. I loved playing but with the lack of end game content I found ingame money selling attractive since I could still play and sell money to keep the grind going. This kept me invested in the server and still keeps me invested.

There are not many servers allow the ability to exchange ingame for irl however I feel that that is one of the few reason for many money farmers staying on the server; knowing that their money could and is worth a quantifiable amount in IRL and that they can “cash out” if they wanted to. If a whale wants to pay $100 for a shit ton of ingame money, they can. We should not punish players who want to spend $10 for $100k ingame that they could have asked a dealer for and got 30x that. These people are the most dedicated and want to support the community. Maybe instead of buying from dealers the store could rework its pricing to better reflect the ingame market then you could possibly eliminate a lot of the problems. However no one is going to spend $100 for 1 million ingame or whatever the rip off is in the store atm. (THIS IS A HUGE REASON FOR IRL TRADING)

Alting is a widespread method of farming and is vital to growth in the economy. I don’t think that removing alt farming and credit trades at the same time is going to help anyone. In fact it could be the nail in the coffin because that is the one part that stands out about the economy on this server. Not many servers provide the same economy like Garnet does. Credit trading is the life blood of the server economy and dictates prices across the board. If you told everyone they can’t trade for credits then almost no one would donate for ccs and stuff because many of the full time dedicated players (kids who can’t afford a cc) are the ones who farm to sell for credits so they can get that dream CC they’ve wanted. It helps to provide a way for people to donate through working on the server. Many communities that I’ve been on don’t have a system that allows someone to do that.

On the one had Alt farming is out of control and I agree it does not help when server is full but, I think it is vital to the health of the server economy and presents healthy discussions between players (to an extent)

This had nothing to do with irl/ingame trading. Furthermore alt farming is not the only way to make fast money, you can buy other players printers. This drives RP as opposed to building a printer farm on your own.

I suggest an economy wipe (money wipe) and this would restable the economy of the server

An economy wipe feels unnecessary, I’ve been on the server for around two years now and have never used alts. If we wiped the server, many players, myself included, would most likely leave as the time sink we’ve put into the game would feel so worthless.

We should def make the server autodisconnect an afk player (whoever has been afk the longest) when the server hits max

obviously with it being at least 1 hr afk

I like this idea but the main issue isn’t the server being full from too many alt accounts. The main issue is some players making money at a rate that’s unfair to other players. Even if we disconnect one account every time someone tries to join the server while the server is full, that’s not going to help the fact that many of the top players are logging several accounts in at a time in order to make $2mill+ every hour.

if it became banned they'd end up having to ban a large percentage of top players and staff.

I think if we put this into effect we’d definitely need a grace period where people can still use alts for a little while. We can’t just drop the rule and immediately put it into effect or a bunch of people would get banned without even knowing the rules exists. We’d need to advertise this rule heavily for a few weeks and make sure everyone knew about the change before fully implementing it, to ensure that the high level players knew to stop using alts.

  9. Description: Make using alt accounts against the rules.

Reasoning: So many people on the server use alt accounts to farm 20+ printers at a time. This causes a high pop that consists of mostly citizens which makes the server look bad, in my opinion. On top of that, the high pop on the server means that each player has less props, usually I'm fine with that as I feel it makes a lot of sense. However, when 10-25% of the players on the server aren't even real, those props that are being accounted for in the prop limit are completely wasted. Besides the issues that come up when it comes to server population, the level of unfairness in terms of makingmoney on the server is unreal. While utilizing one account's printers you can make approximately $200k an hour, however some players who have 10 alts or more can make $2mill an hour, or even more depending on how many alts are being used. The fact that this isn't already considered exploiting is beyond me. Maybe I'm being naive in believing that this is an issue that's even solvable, but since we can see who's using alt accounts to ban evade I would assume we'd be able to see who's using alt accounts for farming purposes. This is an issue that's been well known within the server since before I started playing and it's something that has been considered completely acceptable for reasons that I cannot understand. It has created a completely unfair environment where the economy and leveling system is easily exploited, prop limit is being completely wasted on accounts that aren't even playing, and it's a bad look for the server overall.

Additional Information: While I believe that utilizing alts in any way should be banned I'm willing to accept that many players, I'm sure, would disagree. I think a compromise would be to set a limit on the number of alts a player can use, doing so would lessen the impact that alt accounts are having on the server pretty significantly. I wont name names but the fact that some players are using 10-15 alts at a time should be considered exploiting and unacceptable overkill. I'm sure that many players are going to disagree with me but I felt like throwing this on the forums to see how others felt.

  10. To say that "the building that I put up was very edgy, but there was nothing directly racist on it" while also acknowledging the sign you had put up, I feel is a bit contradictory. You have far more than enough playtime to know what is and is not allowed on the server. Putting up what you had up anywhere on the map, let alone the fact it was right in front of spawn, represents the server in a very bad light. There are plenty of DarkRp servers on Gmod that couldn't care less about racism and being "edgy" but Garnet is not that server. Again that's something I feel you don't need to be told being as you've been around the server long enough.

  11. -1 the whole point of having standard points and premium points is that its hard to get the standard points. Getting an item that requires standard points shows that you have prestiged enough to get them. Adding the ability to just buy standard points takes away from prestiging and makes those items less rare.
