Idk man. A lot of people seem to think that map rotation and player engagement/retention/accessibility co-exist. I tend to agree. I think rather than doing yet another map swap, Nutter should just update the current one with changes that might keep players engaged, while allowing new players to feel at home in a familiar yet everchanging environment.

Not to mention consistent rotation has usually meant tweaks to the next map need to be made due to changes in many different updates garnet applies to various things while the players are on any given map (think weapon tweaks, added factions, roleplayability, etc.) which in turn sucks more dev time for the actual important shit traded for mind numbingly dull hours in hammer.

Im all for tweaking the current map, but rotations haven't played out all too well imo

The problem is that coming up with fresh and new ideas for the map is a difficult thing to accomplish (Not many people contributed for ideas in the making of past maps, for example). I also doubt Garnet would want to sink the time into editing any sort of map when he has so much stuff to focus on when it comes to development of the other servers. In that aspect, you're right about older maps not being updated to current standard with AFOC/RU Air force being a thing now. I'm sure it could still work out, though.

  2. Yeah I'm like 99% sure there have been announcements about a map rotation that just never came to fruition lol.

+1 to this idea, although not sure about the Sibera map. I remember not liking the map due to the night lighting.

  3. +1

I've never had any positive experiences with Krimzin, but I do think he could be given a second chance. Krimzin does have a lot of experience on the server and knows how everything works. He did cheat yes, but it's been six months since the incident and if I'm not mistaken this is his first ban appeal. If he stops his former toxicity and obviously stops the cheating, then I think he could be unbanned.

I honestly doubt Krimzin is the type of person who would "deform" like Venus or Topshot did anyways, nor would I think he'd go back to cheating.

We don't really need one bc it will make vehicles not useful and it would make it easier for headglitchers to get to their position

...This doesn't make any sense? Vehicles still can be used to transport large amounts of people at the same time to an OBJ, so they still have a use for the war if people are going to siege an OBJ (not like vehicles are used past the first 5 minutes anyways half the time, lul). And the second reason you gave literally makes no sense lol.

in general before making a suggestion make sure its not there....

https://trello.com/b/pzlsREdD/garnetgamingnet - this is what garnet made. all the future updates (or ideas?) are here.

this isn't the same thing as what I'm suggesting though. This suggestion is more focused on reducing the time it takes to get to the objectives. The "anti basecamp" point i was talking about was more of an addition to it than anything.

This is on garnets thing, but it’s based off of whether or not one side has a player advantage, if this were to happen tough it’s probably easiest to code the boost right off spawn, not opposed to it but I don’t really mind the run to an obj(basically what party said)

Yeah would probably be easier to code off of when they spawn, only thing is it takes time for people to get ammo and whatnot so would be hard to account for when trying to set a time for how long you get speed boosted for.

  7. Description: [description of what you are suggesting, one paragraph minimum]

This might be a stupid suggestion, but I think we should give people a 10-20 second speed boost every time they leave base during the war to shorten the time it takes to get to the OBJ. This buff would only be given once per life, and wouldn't be applied again if they left and entered the base again. If the person who has the buff discharges their weapon, then the buff would be taken away from them as well. You could also make it to where if they receive damage with the buff active, then it takes away the buff as well (although I don't really think this is necessary).

Reasoning: [how would this benefit our server?]

I think this will benefit the server in many ways honestly, it currently takes around 30-60 seconds (depending on the OBJ you go to and what side you're on) to get to an OBJ, which is a a lot of time considering the amount of times an average person dies in a single war. Implementing this would significantly lower the amount of time it takes to reach an objective, and make the pacing of the war feel a lot faster. Sure we do have vehicles to remedy this as well but they are very rarely, if ever, used properly during wars. They are mostly used only for the first 3-5 minutes of war and then get discarded for the remainder of the war.

I also think this suggestion could be used to combat base camping as well to be honest, being faster makes it harder for anyone pushing past the OBJ to kill them.

    Additional Information: [Photos/Videos][/CODE]
I'm pretty much just trying to describe the LoL mechanic where you get increased movement speed when you leave base to get to your lane faster lul

lemme know what you guys think about this

What I'm saying is that the issue has been noticed, steps are being taken, there are multiple options Jake could take and he will take necessary ones.

I tried to explain some of your issues yesterday in Teamspeak, and you effectively just told me to shut up.

In regards to Jake, he won't tell you every option he's considering, and he may want to give the current crop of DF a chance first, so of course you're not going to be satisfied with his response, but that doesn't mean Jake's ignoring the issue.

Can you elaborate what steps have been taken here on the thread then or what options are being considered? You can't just say "steps are being taken" without elaborating and then expect for us to all believe you. There needs to be more communication about this than what you're currently giving us.

@Garnet @'ing because it seems kind of important given his circumstances. Not sure what your policy is on situations like this are but thought I'd @ so you'd see it faster at least.

Hello everybody! I don't have a whole lot of time so I won't make this thread too long.

My work computer that I do everything garnet-related off of has spontaneously self combusted (not literally) but the boot drive and 2 other SSDs corrupted themselves, including alot of unreleased Garnet content. I have absolutely no idea why, but they refuse to be detected as boot drives, and appear as "NTFS inaccsible" drives under 'My Computer'

As much as this sucks, and I just lost thousands of hours worth of work in unreleased assets, at the very least I managed to upload a backup of the finished Delta map onto my Google Drive 13 minutes before the corruption happened.

I'm trying to get my PC situated and make a trip to BestBuy to buy a new boot drive in the meantime, making the map release get delayed by 2-3 hours 😞

    ETA: 7PM Eastern

When my HDD failed to startup/be detected in BIOS I got this "SATA III to USB 3.0" adapter so my PC could read it like a USB flashdrive lol. Could be worth a shot to see if you can get any of your files off of the drive.

Worked wonders for me when my HDD corrupted, thought i lost all of my vmf files but I was able to transfer them off using the adapter luckily.

Reason: I have plenty of experience when it comes to level design within the source engine, so I think I could give some valuable input when it comes to the more technical aspects of the map and gameplay. I've also played on most if not all of the previous maps that have been on the server, so I know what problems to look for that have been on the previous maps as well. Albeit I haven't been on the server in a minute, I still would love to help playtest this since I am heavily addicted to mapping in source lol so I think I could learn a lot from this as well. Thanks for considering me 😄

    Classes

    RPG & Nailgunner

    Reduced health buff 300 > 150

You already get an RPG, you don't need a bigger boost than that boi.

Rockets in the matador have been reduced from 4 to 3

Stats from the matador have been applied to the RPG-7

Given the RPG to Nailgunner's loadout for the sake of diversity

wow i can't believe the class was actually nerfed, considering how many people seemed to defend it whenever someone complained about it being OP in OOC lmao. Not complaining though, I always thought those classes needed some nerfs badly. Glad to see it actually was. Also entry can use squadron system now? Pog

  15. I really do not understand how this fad of merging base faction officers with SOC factions continued after it fucked up marines and MARSOC so badly. I mean, what is the goal of even doing this? I genuinely don't see any benefits of merging the two.

to me all it looks like this is doing is giving dogshit players a cheat way to get into a SOC faction lmao.

I mean like you said nothing isn't going to be done most likely (especially because there aren't any managers), but I agree with what you said. I think both factions would be better off if they weren't merged (Same could be said with Army and GB, they are merged aren't they?).

I am sure you realize that times change yes? Back when I first started playing, the PDSS would say the word in their tryouts as it was a part of their last question, they didn’t get in trouble, but due to the rules changing, you can see now that the staff are less lenient than they were.

Okay but a permanent ban for saying it once in the chat with no previous warning to stop? Does that REALLY warrant a permanent ban?

that, is a MARSOC WO who was on Reserves by the name of Buck.

Actions in Teamspeak are handled in Teamspeak, Actions in the MRP server, are handled on the MRP server.
Hence why Vlone isn't banned from TS

I'm assuming the rules are the same when it comes to racism on TS and MRP right? I'm just pointing out how some people aren't punished for it while others are like vlone was saying.

Literally takes no effort NOT to say the word.
There's no reason to be saying it in chat in any capacity.

That's another thing, While he may not be the SA anymore for the time being, The Appeals rules still apply, This appeal being for an incident that happened over a month prior.

You witheld information about cheating knowingly, only to seemingly use it when Ozzy was done with the way you were acting on forums I guess?
Can we expect to see a Zachman report anytime soon?

One thing that is confusing me is was this the only documented case of him saying racial slurs, or are there other cases where he's done so? If he's said it before and was warned multiple times to stop, then I could understand a permanent ban. But if this was the only time he said it/wasn't warned previously to stop then the length of the ban makes 0 sense.

Description: Essentially figuring out a way where we can make basecamping a little harder across the board. We probably can't fully eliminate basecamping given that, it's something that's bound to happen on any map no matter what, this is merely a suggestion thread to find ways to make basecamping a little harder.

Reasoning: Currently we have the rule in place that during war, you cannot go past the Archways for the enemy base. However, it's still easy to camp those archways themselves which leads to US or RU not being able to leave their Archways, rather than their base. I think I have an idea that can help either side be able to actually make it past their archways.

In the morning yesterday, Zachman and I were experimenting with different things we could add to the map to give it more QOL and a more CQC feel. This map CAN be CQC oriented, we just need to add a couple of touches to help out with that. The goal shouldn't be to completely eliminate the usefuleness of a sniper, but to decrease how effective they can be at every stage of war (from pushing to OBJ, to capping, to defending, to basecamping)

One Idea Zachman and I came up with was this...

    465690208600a3505ed358ed55c2e1ff.png

I am fully aware that this looks somewhat ugly. However adding large fading doors to the archway passes could prevent basecampers from seeing where the enemy is before they can even leave base. More often than not, the basecamp is killing enemies before they even get to the archway. This would allow US or RU to organize large pushes, or send smaller fractions of forces out of different archways without worrying about being killed before even making it past the arch.

I am not sure if adding something like this to every archway (I believe there are 6 on the map) would prove very costly in terms of FPS or map space on Hammer, but if it could work then we could see some change in how basecamping works on the current map.

I know some might not agree with this specific change, so I encourage discussion on this suggestion thread that could lead to something better.

Tbh I think this might work work pretty good, and garnet could add this into the map itself in hammer. The only thing I'd be worried about is players somehow abusing this to their advantage.

It's pretty simple to implement something like this in hammer tbh, literally just a single brush and then make it into a func_brush, and then change the solidity of the brush to "never solid". pretty sure it'd work (kinda like this: http://prntscr.com/w1d120
