    • +1 Might take some time getting used to the new base locations, and dupes might have to be adjusted, but it brings opportunities for new base designs and more variety in specific designs. I fw it. Good job Gunnah
    • (Note: if possible, and assuming ban appeals aren't already, I would like to keep this thread private as it does contain personally identifying information : )   In-game name: US: Rhys Alam Taliban: John Alam SteamID (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:0:419891413 Staff member's in-game name: Stew Staff who banned me STEAM_0:0:460406314 Tom Nelson Staff who authorized the ban Couldn't obtain steam ID Date & Time of incident: 06/28 | ~8PM PTTimezone: Pacific TimeBan Reason: ESP CheatsHow long were you banned for?: Permanent Proof of Ban:   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------   What happened? (include any proof): I was banned after staff apparently had been spectating me for a war and noticed that I had been tracking people outside of render and tracking people through walls. I don't have any clips of the incident; I did ask staff for the clips of me appearing to have ESP, like to put on my appeal and address them, but as per Stew, there were no clips: 'Nelson basically stated that since there were enough witnesses, including himself, not to wait to clip it' (paraphrased, see DM screenshots in appendix for verbatim).   Honestly, this is one of those things I'm not really sure how to refute? I followed up with the involved staff members and asked what might be good to provide in the appeal: "your pov as a clip at the time would help, and poking holes into the given evidence of what the witnesses saw" ~ Nelson "I would try PVPing on other servers and recording your gameplay and show that you play like that normally" ~ Stew   The problem is that I'm not sure what clips to even provide? Like if the accusation was that I was looking at people outside of render or tracking through walls, I'm not sure how one would go about recording gameplay of how I usually play and prove that I'm not looking at people through walls? While I was in the staff sit, I did offer to screenshare my gameplay, like literally play normally while screensharing, or screenshare a full file search, but I was told none of that would help/matter? I do honestly feel it's a bit unfair to deny doing literally a full file search or viewing my gameplay live before the ban, but then afterward instruct me to provide clips of my gameplay. Why not just allow me to prove and share everything before the ban?    For the accusation itself though, I have a few things that might help: for one, I'm not sure ESP would really be able to show people who are genuinely outside the game's render distance, not like obscured by fog but genuinely not rendered. The ESP would somehow have to force unrendered entities to render? Also, while I'm away for the summer, I'm literally playing on my MacBook... and I don't think it's even possible to cheat on a MacBook. I don't (can't? not easily anyway) record my gameplay, I'm lucky enough GMOD can get running on my machine LOL – the picture in the appendix shows my current setup (I'm in Seattle for an internship rn, please don't roast it </3).   I wasn't provided with any of the given evidence of what the witnesses saw, or told anything about what they saw, apart from what I've already stated. Nelson joined the MARSOC voice-channel after my ban and it sounded as though I sniped him outside render which is what initially caused him to begin spectating me, after which he asked other staff members who also believed it looked like ESP, and then Nelson pushed for the ban. I wanna say I was render abusing with FOV or suit_zooming or something, but that's all just me speculating. I've had aimbot accusations before, and I would just provide clips of me on AimLab or my profile or something lol, but I've never really had ESP accusations honestly. Not sure what I can provide, but again, I'm still fully open to providing whatever might be helpful.   Why should your ban be removed?: I've been waiting for the server to return since 2024, have actively played on DarkRP for years, albeit not as much in recent ones, and have never encountered any such accusations or bans within the community. Since the server came out, I had played daily, was in talks with Garnet to try getting our civilian RP faction introduced, which we had worked on two years ago, and have also been interested in helping with server development.   I wanna say this server has been my life but that sounds kinda sad/depressing so I won't LOL, but in all seriousness, since the server launched, all I've done the minute I get home from work is hop on. I first joined the server on the 20th and was banned on the 28th. Steam shows I played 48 hours of GMOD in that timeframe, which averages to ~6 hours/day. That sounds a bit high honestly, but my point is that I genuinely spend a lot of time on the server and love the community. I joined MARSOC, literally just hours before I was banned lol, and it almost reminds me of when I was 12 and joined MARSOC under Phantom back in like 2017.   If the concern is that I'm cheating, screw it, don't let me do anything but play a civilian – hell, I'll even apply to join the staff team and just be a 24/7 on-duty staff member; I don't really care lol. I just really like the community, I like how much people care about it, I like how much effort Garnet has actively put into reworking the server/MRP over the years, and I just want to be a part of that. I haven't really found a community that I wanted to be involved with to this degree in a while.    Thank you!   Also, I don't think it came across this way, but just in case: I'm not trying to call anyone out or blame any members of the staff team or anything. I appreciate the communication throughout, as well as the general willingness to help!   Appendix: All the screenshots of DMs and everything provided may seem a bit unnecessary, but I hope they help highlight my genuine interest in joining and helping the community.   DMs with Stew:   (blurred image sent in DMs is screenshot of conversation with Nelson)   DMs with Nelson:  Asked if he'd be okay with me posting a screenshot of our DMs, but was denied    Summary without getting into specifics: I reached out after my ban mentioning that ESP wouldn't be able to render entities that aren't rendered (off-map), he responded saying that depending on the type of ESP, it could. I asked if there would be anything helpful to include in my appeal, he responded (see quote above). And after he responded, I followed-up asking if it would be possible to see the clips of me that were used, there was no response. Five days later I asked if I could include screenshots of the DM on my appeal, he stated he'd rather not.   One could argue that Nelson stating he'd rather I not use screenshots of our DMs in my appeal would mean I shouldn't post a summary as well, but I just want to highlight that I did attempt to obtain the clips of me apparently using ESP and was unable to – that's all : )   DMs with Garnet:   Setup:
