[DarkRP - 03/24/2025]
The Drawing Board - an r/place inspired 'minigame'
If anybody is not familiar, r/place was a massive digital canvas on Reddit where participants used to fight over pixels to create art (or some not so great things you can probably imagine). Particularly, clan logos can be fought over within our server if you choose to not just draw a swastika (which would be greatly appreciate if you don't)
Not that he will ever see this, but thank you to Proggy (our long resigned community manager) who introduced me to r/place!
I'm hoping to see some of you artistic ones creating some territorial battles over the drawing board, and hopefully make cool shit. The board/canvas is located at spawn. Currently there is a 10 second cooldown between pixel placement, however, I will be bringing it down to 5 seconds on the next restart
Not off to a great start as far as art goes, but atleast we have an orange penis.
Automated Events System
Our server now has an automated event system - entry fees are $500, and each entry contributes $5,000 to the total winning pot, so if for instance 30 players were to join an event, $15,000 would in turn be a $150,000 reward for a single event.
I am offering 10 credits for each event idea/dupe built with less than ~50 props contributed towards our event system
Feel free to turn in some submissions by DMing myself, @Merk, or @busterbignut
We have a few TDM events, as well as a unique platform event, where you are given a push swep, and the last one standing wins!
The Admin Stick
Watch our staff quality take a dip and productivity go up, as you no longer need to insert any staff commands into chat :D, simply use your new stick
UIs were added for functions such as Gag/Mute/Bans to be far more forgiving and easy to use
Miscellaneous
Prostitute job was added back due to high demand. fml
Advanced Dupe now paste 60% faster than before
The /staff command (with other aliases such as /admins /mods) was implemented to inform you of ACTIVE staff members
Players thrown in jail no longer get a bounty

Halfway valid complaint, but that's why there's jobs up until level 60 that provide more XP/Money than printers. It sucks new players are being targeted, with that being said, that's the nature of the game. If I gave new players an edge over vet players, not only would our regulars more than likely endlessly complain, but they would probably use it to their advantage on an alt.

MOTD
Honestly how the fuck did I not give us an MOTD for 4 years, when all other servers have one. UI looks like shit, I made it in 20 minutes, but it works ;D
The Merkurator
Due to a never ending number of messages I get while i'm in school studying about ban evaders and such, I made Merk the most robust tool that I think I've ever made in Garry's Mod to detect ban evasion, it checks so many things that you might as well waste your time getting on another computer with a VPN, as opposed to trying to evade again
Rest of the UI was hidden for obvious reasons :DD
Leveling System
Prestiged players no longer have to level back up after prestiging to switch to a lower prestige job, IE: a prestige 1 level 1 player can now access all prestige 0 jobs.
F4 menu was updated to reflect this change by showing you jobs of lower prestige as available
Drug System
All drug purchasers have been merged into 1 single NPC
Administration
Re-wrote the gag command to be extremely optimized, as well as adding duration support
Super Admins (Merk) now has access to PermaProps
Bacta Grenade
A starwars-inspired Bacta grenade was added, it works like a reversed nervegas, where instead of losing health, you gain health
Bugs & Misc
Fixed issue with printers being unclaimable after a restart (restart recovery system bug)
Disabled the /demote command due to being a nuisance
Players who died as a result of a hit will be notified of this when they try to /report the hitman
Disabled NLR when dying in adminland/events
Throttled pet behavior if players' FPS gets too low (no reason to worry about clean pet animations if your frames are shit)
Fixed issue where Lotto wouldn't send to all players on the server
Disabled NLR for Banana slips
Optimized tons of random shit for server performance (there's no improving the server anymore from here
)
Lockdowns will automatically end after 5 minutes

FINALLY
Overflows
We had finally fixed the overflow issues relating to our DarkRP server - sending our population skyrocketing to 128/128 daily and extreme stability
Demote
This function has been removed from the server due to abuse
Light Tool
Corrected issue where ownerless lights could be created
Restart Recovery
Succesfully implemented a tool that re-spawns your base and printers following a server restart, read more:
Before a server restart takes place, this system will accomplish the following: Saving of all Base props (including positions, materials, colors, and orientation - your base will be IDENTICAL to the one you had before the restart) Printers (including their upgrades) Door reservations (Nobody will be able to purchase the doors to your base for the first 15 minutes after a server restart) Almost EVERYTHING is recovered seamlessly after a restart, allowing you to jump right back in as if the restart never happened, with 0 hiccups. Only one caveat, you'll need to replace your keypads after a restart.

While i won't get rid of it, I have increased the cooldown from 30 seconds to a 90 (minute and a half for idiots), and it cannot be used in spawn.

Gamemaster Utility Menu
I have completely recoded !gm - now accessible via /gm
Gamemasters can now host events easier via this menu, by setting objectives:
As well as coordinate all players via a highly optimized ESP to track all players' positions.
Server Startup and Loading Times
Improved start-up time and load times for both the server and client by an average of 22%
To put things into numbers, players who previously took 2 minutes to connect, will now take roughly 1 and a half minutes

Dear Garnet Gamers,
As part of my ongoing development on the server, trying to make everybody's experience a fun one, I will unfortunately be having to make an important change to our database. Specifically, I'll be removing all outdated virtual packages purchased prior to 2018. Effectively removing all packages that are now older than 8 years (specifically, 2250+ day old packages)
Why this change is needed?
*should only affect very few active individuals*Our store's database has been growing substantially over the past decade, and dare I say we are the single largest use-case for our store - and without migrating to another monetization platform (IE: Tebex) where players would essentially have their purchases wiped clean, I have no other option. While this happening to us in the first place is an incredible story/history for our community, it sadly started impacting server performance, most recently, I am attributing the DarkRP overflows at 3-5AM on our donation portal's daily database refresh, causing mass disconnects ad outages.
Despite rigorous testing for months and having it isolated to this one issue, in the event that I am wrong, I will be keeping a backup of all purchases prior to 2018!
tldr;
What This Means for You
- Packages purchased before 2018 will no longer be stored in our store's database.
- This change absolutely will not impact recent purchases or packages activated in 2019 and forward.
- Refunds are not applicable or reasonable for a package that is 7 years old, as noted in our Terms of Service - I feel as though you had a full 7 years to use a package that was an average of $8 a purchase, paying a fraction of a fraction of a cent on it each day you played.
Legitimacy of this Action
This decision was most definitely not made lightly, as some of you may have seen as I've been troubleshooting our issues on the DarkRP server over the past year - but i'm coming to a conclusion that it is ABSOLUTELY necessary for our continued success. I no longer want to see us bleeding out old and new players to overflows.
In adherance to our Terms of Service, and beyond it I let you know of the following:
The proper explanation behind this change. (which again, will virtually affect almost no recent players). It is necessary to ensure stability, smooth gameplay, and avoid further disruptions. In terms of compliance (since everybody loves being an internet lawyer: Our Terms of Service allow for the adjustment and removal to virtual items as part of maintaining our services, I have never had to do an action like this in the past.
I hope you guys, the regular players, are happy that ALMOST 10 years later i'm still taking stupid tedious actions to improve the stability of our servers and provide you the best experience. Removing all this outdated data will hopefully be the key to prevent further disruptions during peak and off-peak hours, ensuring that our servers continue thriving.

Optimizations
The server has been tediously optimized (again) to give you all what appears to be 11% more frames - this may be a bigger number with more population online
Linked Doors
The linked door tool has been re-made for GMs, as a replacement for Witcher Gates!
Left click will spawn in a door, and then left clicking against will set its destination
HUD
Our UI has been upscaled (i'm so sorry you guys had to deal with this for almost 10 years)

[MilitaryRP - 22/12/2024]
Re-Wrote the smelting system entirely (got annoyed because I didn't write the code, which meant I couldn't fix it's gazillion issues). It looks to be bug free now that I can call it mine?
Smelting items:
As part of this re-write, mineable rocks will slowly regenerate over time, rather than randomly pop back to full size
Officers (limited access) and COs have access to the qualification menu
GM/Mod+ have access to Officer-level qualification permissions
Admin+ have CO level access to qualification permissions
Commanding Officer view:
Fixed Fishing Rods not being removed when they break
Re-wrote conflict hud (made it 833% more efficient FPS-wise)
Setting players to a faction will now automatically set them to the faction's model, as if you were changing a DarkRP job

Christmas Update is Live!
Snowfall has been added to the server - it has been severely optimized and will only take up 2-3 frames at worst - snow will melt the moment it hits the ground.
Christmas Trees can be accessed in order to obtain a daily gift- some of which included the limited time items Snow Golem & Santa's Cap
The Snow Golem is a cute little pet that'll follow you around for an eternity
Santa's Cap is a hat similar to the one given out in 2023 - never to be obtainable again
Presents full of Candy can be found throughout the map
The Snow Boss will spawn on randomized intervals, and can be defeated to gain Candies
(some people already figured out some less-than optimal ways of blocking his attacks)
Candy may be traded with Mr Frosty in order to purchase a Snow Golem, Santa's Cap or Pointshop Points, in the event that you were not able to find those under the Christmas Tree this year

After reviewing this evidence, I am in complete agreement with this warning.
Believe it or not, we try to not over-bloat our rules to be thousands of lines long like a big book (which other servers tend to do) and leave it down to the basics - that'd be the sole reason we do not explicitly write "You cannot fulfill your own hit in a different life". This under all circumstances would fall under the umbrella of "Metagaming". You completed an action in one life, switched to another, and then took advantage of something you had set up in a previous life (in this situation, a hit fulfillment), essentially getting paid by yourself.
I do need to go ahead and also patch this issue while i'm at it
If you're not happy with the Metagaming title, we can considering it an exploit of server code and issue a different punishment, as I think it's very apparent our hit system wasn't intended as a loop/workaround for someone to get away with RDM.
