Hello Garbanzo Gamers,
When it comes to our DarkRP server, April has been a complete roller coaster, and the server was literally putting its head through a noose.
The culprit we found and believe to have gotten it right, was for the first time in 6 years, relying on outsourced code I didn't personally birth, the logging system.
Our new logging system was never really written for the demands of our server's continous 2-day uptime with 70 sad souls continuously connected, resulting in overflows (which did not give us any troubleshooting information)
In short, we were literally victims of our own success.
This entire month @Merk got front-row seats to my cerebral meltdown, while I tried to figure out why in the fuck ouf server seems to kick everybody daily at precisely the window of 3-4 AM, and I even reached out to the developer of Garry's Mod, Rubat, who went.. yeah ok this isn't my fault, your server's fucked
( he was right. )
The good news are, after 3 tortorous weeks, of literal brain trauma, I finally figured the source out.
NOW FOR THE EVEN BETTER NEWS
In my quest to figure out wtf is making our server so unstable, I ended up giving our entire server a literal revamp, as I re-wrote some of our code from the Mesozoic era in 2015-2017.
While re-coding things didn't fix the crashes, it provided insane performance benefits collectively, resulting in our tickrate comfortably going up from 22 to a crazy 33 but also buffed our net-channels to allow the server to literally effortlessly juggle over 100 players. Needless to say, I won't need to optimize anything in the future. So moving forward, unless some new shitstorm brews, I am fully dedicated to providing the DarkRP server NEWWWW content. Until the end of May, I am mostly going to be focus on DarkRP, not SWRP or MRP.

Changes
For the month of April, here's a summary of what was updated (with a few things omitted as they were not properly documented by me):
Re-wrote more than half of the code of DJ Radios
Re-wrote more than half of our prop protection and physics conditions for props
Fixed an ancient bug that caused unlimited props
Re-wrote delivery system entirely for the Deliveryman job
Re-wrote portions of the animation swep
Re-wrote portions of the base Garry's Mod light entity
Re-wrote how corpses are handled
Re-wrote portions of permatoggle, which allows players to toggle permanent weapons from being given at spawn
Re-wrote how players typing or talking is networked to other players within the server
Disabled the use of stunstick in spawn
Allowed all Admins+ to use the witcher gates tool
Added "Report Area" protection - an idea and design by Merk
Raised the XP given to weed cultivators when growing weed by 45%
Fixed the distance at which the PD vault can be raided
CPs now get money and XP for confiscating printers
Re-wrote portions of the code of the party system
Re-wrote portions of the C menu suite
Re-wrote portions of the vape system and how it's networked
Re-wrote portions of the word unscrambler for security
Reduced the DJ job limit from 3 to 2
Added the DJ role to the mugging blacklist
Created a script to remember your last used job, so in the event of a crash, when you reconnect, you'll be reserved your old job.

Venator Map
Gravity GeneratorWe've installed a new gravity generator! While this should keep you grounded, beware—if it's damaged, gravity might get a bit quirky, making it tough to walk without floating a little, particularly if you run through a staircase.
You better hope we have ENG members on with a handy fusion for the repair (whch by the way, will have a 1000 credits reward)
Weather System
Meteor ShowerWatch the skies as meteors streak past anaxes. Just remember, it's safer inside our base. Standing outside will be a grieving mistake.
Fog/Sandstorm
Good luck navigating through dense fog or sandstorms that will challenge your visibility. Ideal for events designed for siths that thrive in infiltration/secrecy.
Earthquake (INCOMPLETE)
Your screen will annoyingly go sideways for some time, while rocks will start falling off the side of cliffs and mountains, you best go indoors while this is happening to avoid being squashed like an ant.
Administration
Trial GamemastersWith our thriving team of executives, T. GMs have been given greater control, our Trial Gamemasters can now host their own scaled-down events, through the use of almost all tools (albeit slightly restricted) that the rest of our team can utilize!
CM PermissionsConway has been granted ultimate permissions to dispense items and crates at will. Harus next?
Drugs System
Every fictional world has its tweakers.
Reimplementation of Drug ClassesWe’ve reintroduced our classic drug system from DarkRP that has been ongoing since 2017, albeit now optimized for better performance and neater effects. Support for being a mega-methhead has been added, as you can now be tripping on bantha crack, and deathsticks both at the same time.
Overdosing MechanicsAdded back the risk of overdosing, affecting your character's stats (run/walk speed) and health.
POV: you're on fucking galactic crack
Drug Detection InstrumentIssued to specific roles within the CG battalion to help monitor and maintain order by detecting the dirty crackheads within our base. (can't wait for Officer Jo Schmo to whine about being demoted for being caught high on galactic crack - because it wasn't done in RP)
Optimizations and Miscellaneous
Voice Chat OptimizationWe’ve significantly improved voice chat clarity and increased its range by 15%, ensuring you can communicate from further distances without disturbances during events
Addon ReworksThe portable radio and chess addons have been rewritten for better stability and reduced errors. This should also help decrease the crash instances among users, and boost performance on both the server and the client.

Fixed issue with dropped Mythic Pulsed Edialitye crystals appearing as errors
Vibro Knives
Recoded Vibro knives for the elimination of the occasional material discrepency
LVS Seats
Added extra security to LVS seats to avoid random errors.
Group ChatRedesigned DarkRP group chat with optimization in mind - now that they carry more calculations (certification checks)
Grenades
Fixed infinite loop associated with nades (tfa) being thrown at NPCs - didn't cause immediate crashes, but they'd happen hours thereafterMusic
Cleaned up errors that popped up with music/theme tracks playing during events
ScoreboardAttempted to fix error when loading up the tab menu before initializing DarkRP's data fully

Capture Point System
Created support for members of the republic being able to capture said points, as well as the capability of CIS members (event jobs) being able to do the opposite, alongside NPC droids! This system is super similar to what you would find playing battlefront or MilitaryRP
Citadel Revamp
Fixed Citadel NPCs not spawning, even when the board is claimed. Rewritten portions of citadel with optimizations in mind for a large population
Galactic Cuisine
Food ItemsIntroduced food items that can be used for healing in the absence of a medic. All food items currently carry the same effects of slowly regenerating your HP by 40 at a very slow pace.
Bantha Bites
This is the store from which food can be purcahsed until we introduced a cooking mechanic, at which point, it will become a very expensive ingredient/spice shop
Entry Quiz
Upon a succesful completion of our server's entry quiz, you will be met with a selection panel!
Selection Panel
Streamlined the process of choosing your entry battalion, making it quicker and easier to get started on our server
Jedi Overhaul
Path QualificationsConsolidated Jedi roles into four streamlined jobs, simplifying the path selection process. Administrators and council members can now assign members onto their respective paths, and players no longer have to switch jobs continually as they progress within a path or switch paths.
Double TroubleRemoved the cost for dual-wielding abilities, allowing all Jedi to wield two sabers without additional expense of your sacred points.
Saber RifleAdded this new weapon to our arsenal, with limited shots but powerful effects. I'd be lying if I said I knew wtf Conway wants to do with this, but its here and it took 2 hours to complete
Skill Tree RevampCompletely overhauled the Jedi skill tree, making it more intuitive and tailored to distinct roles of Consular, Sentinel, and Guardian.
Additionally, reduced the cost for all Jedi forms to 1 skill points
Model Swap SwepChanged how players assume lore characters' roles; now, it’s based on qualifications rather than specific jobs, with a toggleable weapon to switch your playermodel onto the appearance of your lore character.

Battalion Assigned Jedi
Introduced the ability to become batalion assigned, a jedi can now become 212th attack battalion assigned, and utilize the "U" teamchat functionality to seamlessly chat with all of 212th
Team Chat
/jedi team chat was introduced to serve as a replacement for U team chat for jedis, as U will now be reserved for assigned jedis
91st Mobile Recon
I'm super excited to introduce a new battalion with unique capabilities and playstyle to our server, 91st is a battalion that excels in scouting and quick strike missions. They're equipped with speeds and the appropriate equipment to allow for rapid deployment and extraction during off-worlds. Despite all this, people will still ask for them to get mortars and probably their own personal Jedi starfighter, because our server's population is allergic to balance between battalions and want one-man-armies.Panic Switch
A new tool for emergency preparedness has been given to both Navy and Jedi Council members, useful for alerting of your last known location in emergencies, this is done by a very simple left mouse button press.
Civilian Model Pack
Added a misc playermodel pack for event use!

I can look at what is clearly a prop wall spawned in, yet the "Prop Owner: NAME" never shows up on the side no matter where I look. It doesn't happen all the time mind you, but enough people can say it has happened. Received a few reports over time of propblock and the username was never able to be revealed to me until I did /removeprop on one prop of theirs.
Though if anyone does have pics that would be pretty helpful.
Oh, this was last an issue probably 2-3 weeks ago, it's since been resolved please let me know ASAP if it persists to be a problem?

Hey um, would anybody be able to provide me any footage of what is being reported here? Myself and some higher staff have absolutely no idea why some of you find it difficult to see a prop’s owner.
I can very easily add a command to scan nearby props and report to a player who owns them, but I’m trying to make sure we’re on the same page.currently prop owners are notated to the middle left of the screen, in white text

Added all items into the functionality of the deconstruct system - all items carry a value, with VIPs, VIP+, and MVP having a higher output for deconstructing items
Dropped Items
All dropped items will now be removed after a grace period of 2 minute, thanks to a mingy youtuber who pointed out that this issue can result in a server crash
HUD
Introduced the item class "Borealis Item" so inspecting an item now correctly reads what's within the packaging
Squad/Party
Introduced the command /leavesquad and /leaveparty - allowing players to leave their team
Corrected issue where lua errors would spam a team when a player would crash from the server
Logging System
Migrating from our own custom Logging suite ( one made in 2017 ;( ) in favor of a paid script with tons of extra functionality that is necessary to run a server of our scale
PVP Event Report
Staff can now go back in time and view a death scene, including the position of the reporter and reportee at the time of the potential RDM event
Once rendering the scene, players will be able to navigate the area in "ghostmode" to their heart's desire
Staff please beware, while this logging system is as optimized as can be, it features far more features than mine did, as such, FPS loss is to be expected when utilizing this logging system (within reason).

Removed a portion of code that could have been causing the server to crash during map changes (took months to investigate this holy fuck)
One of our players on the server, Aurora, is a developer who provided us with a further optimized version of the Jetpacks, by collaborating with him on some changes, we were able to squeeze far more performance out of our jetpacks, providing far more server stability. You fucking rock man.

Miscellaneous
Optimized the server's performance, specifically in regards to voice chat.
Returned vape to a size similar to their former, although still not capable of producing the same effect of smoke grenades, thankfully.
Knives cannot be dropped (oops) would create an untouchable (invalidated) entity that is stuck in the air until the next server restart.
Pointshop (F8) was given the alias commands /ps and /pointshop for members who reported crashing when hitting the F8 key.
Created a table of roles that are able to rob the PD Vault (thank you @Merkfor the high quality screenshot) - only raiding roles and CCs can now rob the vault!
Created issue where the vault could be raided from too far away
Re-created and re-vamped the profanity filter on our server, no longer can players utilize slurs such as the n word/f word without them being replaced by heartwarming phrases, IE: I can't wait to go DJ and earhug you!!!
Removed remanants of advertisements for our non-existent Teamspeak server.

I'm the one who will ultimately have to work on these features/implement them, but I genuinely think the whole "vanilla/nostalgic" feel reasoning is a bit redundant/silly. For god's sake, it's an automated timer to type in the /lockdown command, what here would break your immersion or bring the server to non-vanilla standards ;(

In all honesty, the majority of this post seems redundant. What would be useful is to add ABC categorization or Level based categorization to the F4 menu, in my opinion.

Yeah we made a lot of changes for a good reason, ie: literal racist jokes with the n word in our UIs, provided by an old developer who was black and thought it was hilarious. Times have changed.
The hobo swep I think is a bit of a stretch, and if it’s pushing your buttons/making you uncomfortable, respectfully, Garry’s mod is just not the game for you. I’d suggest you go play Roblox.

Interactive NPCs
The Mac NPC base has been added to our server, and huge portions of it have been rewritten (the majority of it TBH) with optimization in mind. Allowing new players accessibility to useful information, while not affecting veteran players to any measurable degree
You'll be able to easily recognize non-player NPCs because of their slightly more realistic posture
And lots not forget amazing resilience to fire (thank you Phil)
CIS
Standalone ranking structure created by @AlexConway
All Droid classes have been given a loadout and proper spawnpoints in the event that players are to be RPing as CIS droids in the near future/parttake in events.
AFK Rewards
By simply staying connected to our server during late-night and early morning (The window of 11PM and 2PM EST) - whether roleplaying and dodging blaster fire, gambling in our lounge, or idling within your battalion's bunks, you will accumulate activity crates full of scraps, credits, or even a large sum of XP points on an hourly basis!
This feature is in place to incentivizes some of you to remain on our server during the off-peak hours, in hopes of kickstarting our peak activity times. Starting our days off with 10-20 pop has unfortunately been daunting on us as of late, so help us keep the community growing and we will reward you for it
Quest System
Imported tens of quests onto the latest revision on the map, as well as created a few new ones
In the future months, staff will hopefully part-take in quest creation in order to bring a ton of fun content
Inventory Items Selling
Removed the ability to sell items to certain vendors, and created buy-only vendors.
In order to received materials for your items, you would simply use the "Decon[onstruct]" button from within your inventory!
VIPs, followed by VIP+, and MVPs will receive a 10, 15, and 20% bonus deconstruct value for their item (VIP+ and MVP still pending release)

Missions
The missions system from DarkRP has been added onto StarwarsRP, allowing for passive credit gain by completing random tasks, such as finishing up 2 quests, or killing 30 droids in citadel!

327th K Company : Leader has been given access to the 'Deviss' playermodel
Added general optimizations for players, including not drawing auras on dropped items until looked at within a close distance

As Conway has mentioned, I had my own version of the downtown map with huge FPS optimizations, long before this map was even out. Players don't favor playing on maps they're not 10000% familiar with, and are not as likely to download new maps.

As explained last month, our optimizations updates are now officially done, and in the future please expect strictly content related updates with new roles that we have planned! can't wait for the average DarkRP server to start copying our unique new roles soon. Logging Suite
After many months of trying to further develop our logging system to be more robust, I threw the towel and decided to re-adapt a logging system we used on MilitaryRP back in 2017. This logging system features scene recreation, allowing staff to know each and every detail that took place in a firefight, allowing them to make more educated decisions and call out those scummy liars amongst you guys
Poop System
Added a chance to deliver a healthy white baby when pooping
Poop cooldown has been reduced from 35 seconds to an average of 17 due to popularity
PM Notifications
Updated to be reflective of the notifications found on our StarwarsRP server
Server Restarts
Added automated notifications to allow a 10 minute grace period to those unaware of a restart coming up
Bugs and Miscellaneous
Fixed COVID infection persisting after a player's death
Removed the ability for Drug Manufacturing jobs to utilize /mug
Removed a very peculiar word from the Crack purchasing NPC
Corrected issues where players could unbind retry, and thus avoid being removed from the server when banned
Corrected issue where prisoner model would persist after being released from Jail
Removed the ability for the mayor's wife to be arrested
Corrected issue where Keypad could be faded via the fading door tool in order to avoid being raided
Re-wrote the command /removeprop for Admins+
The F4 Menu now reflects the correct content pack for our server
For Mac users, or Windows users without F keys, the commands /ps and /pointshop have been added in order to open Pointshop

As everybody has explained, this is more abusable than anything else. There’s a reason why I’m working on low level jobs, such as city utilities, delivery man, and others. If a new player loses their printers, they can always get money via other methods

The prop limit was literally raised less than a few months ago, by 5 for max pop, and 10-20 across the board.
As Plague mentioned, "if the server machine was truly an upgrade" or whatever. We quite literally implemented a DJ Radio which eats up 30% of our new overhead to performance, not to mention, the biggest hit by props is TO THE CLIENTS, and it reflects in lower FPS.
Just last month i believe @AlexConway asked me to add a package to the donation store that allows players to spawn in 10 more props, as a way to keep our community sustained with a higher income, and I declined that too, despite the overall hit being MUCH smaller.
Once our server is stable with new changes for some time, I may consider this suggestion.

I say this whilst using hobo exclusively, there are major restrictions and issues with the hobo class, and me being allowed to throw shit does not fix them.

That's why the entire squad of weirdos like Torq are still screaming about missing the server, we eventually had to cut them loose because they were being too detrimental to our server.
A balance is hard to reach, we don't want to fully disallow players from having a reasonable number of alts (2-3) to help them out economically if so they wish, because at the end of the day, we compete with servers who are actively botting servers, looking like they hold a higher population, when in reality they have 100 bots (Smokes/Atomic were banned off tracking websites for this)

Dear, astrid2, It's quite the spectacle how you're able to appear under a different alias and try to play the innocent/confused game, but our very handy tools over here at Garnet™ have confirmed this to be a lie.
I think it's your time to leave, because while you can continually make alts, you will eventually be caught, and unfortunately, ban evading (much less lying) is unappealable. We appreciate the creativity though and hope you have a fantastic day. (PS, the VPN trick in Sweden didn't work)
