Preface:
Hello Garnet gamers, I am here today to propose to you the solution to an issue which has been plaguing our community for quite a while now, the misconception of "mass propspam."
The Issue:
As it stands now, 5-10+ people are banned per day for anywhere from 1-3 months for the concept of "mass propspam," but 8/10 times, this is not the case. From my observations, several of these cases are given this dictation because of staff having personal or professional agenda against players, either that, or they just want the empowerment of banning somebody for such an outrageous amount of time just to feel powerful.
• Mass Propspam, the definition: One thing that staff seem to misunderstand on numerous occasions is the difference between singular propspam and Mass Propspam. The reason that Mass Propspam Is such a major offense is because its original reason for being a bannable offense was because the server would crash if you repeatedly spawned props.
Propspam - The repeated spawning of props on a small scale, without malicious intentions or intent to crash/lag the server. (Punishable by jail/warnings.)
Mass Propspam - The repeated spawning of props on a massive scale (across several districts/bases,) typically with intentions to cause lag and or crash the server. (Punishable by 1-3 months ban.)
• Stacker tool: Stacker tool is commonly misinterpreted for mass propspam by staff, and people have been banned simply for stacking too many props using the tool. Stacker has been specifically cultivated to not cause crashing and/or lag to the server when used, and therefore, should void propspam charges. ( @Garnet Confirm this?)
My solution: In the Rules, D3A guide, (both in the staff docs and on the forums,) and all other official documents, there is no direct dictation that rules the terms and conditions which justify a Mass propspam ban; I suggest that we create official guidelines that determine that mass propspam refers to the spam which is intended to lag/crash the server and is done in a wide area or across several districts. I say that we break it up into 3 distinct types:
• Propspam - 0-20 props which are spammed within milliseconds of each other. (Punishable by a warning/Jail time)
• Mass Propspam - Anywhere from 20 props onward spammed repeatedly in a public street and/or across several districts/areas. (1 month ban, 2-3 depending on severity.) With intentions to crash/lag the server.
• Stacker tool - Stacking anywhere from 0-∞ props using the stacker tool, as it does no damage to the server, has no punishment.
Conclusion: As long as we have a ban which can be extended up to 3 months, staff can and will abuse it to fuel their egos and feel authoritative, that, and to get rid of players that they don't like. Adding a more strict set of conditions to this term can save many players unnecessary ban time, and not have staff abuse their ability to ban someone for spawning a couple of props in succession.
Thank you.
