  1. This is a pretty perfect way to sum up a lot of my decisions as manager. At the time I justified my own toxic behavior as "well they are toxic to me, so ill be toxic back" which is not how a staff member should behave, let alone how someone leading the staff team. Anytime I made a decision, to me it didn't feel like the critics disliked the decision, it felt like the critics disliked me and that's why the decision merited criticism. So a lot of the time I had it in my head that it was a game of "Me vs the RU skids" when that wasn't remotely true. In retrospect, it was me not respecting the opinions and criticisms of long time players and people genuinely concerned with decisions I tried making that would impact the server they cared about. I can only speak for myself from my perspective on the events I outlined here. I never thought you or Jim did anything out of malicious intent, or did anything to further your own agendas. To be completely honest there were times where you guys tried pulling me off the edge of the cliff, and I decided to jump anyways. And my behavior only served to make things harder for you guys after I left. Im genuinely sorry for that. And I am sorry for my recent behavior to you when I came back to check how things were on the server. You had reason to hate me lol. I banned you off of a method that wasn't allowed to be used when we used it.
  2. Like I said I am not looking to gather forgiveness through this thread. Actions speak louder than words. I will add to what you said however. I do believe that many of the server's flaws currently can be attributed to me in some way or another. Some were things that were building behind the scenes far before I joined as 2GA PVT Milton, others are things I played a direct part in exaggerating, willingly or not. I was active as a manager on issues I should have handled with more leniency, and completely inactive on issues that would take any real hard work to achieve. Banning certain players wasn't going to stop the spread of toxicity, it just seemed the easy way out at the time. While I can agree I left the server in an abysmal state, I would like to add that I have complete faith in the current staff team, at least the one's I know can do a lot of great. I don't imagine Ozzy intends to do the same kind of shit I did, or that he even has. I had seen that. The skill level in terms of PvP within the vega ranks was absolutely undeniable. Gamma was a true champ when it came to toughening up Vega members. I'm glad I never went through with wiping it, but I still regret having you guys fear that was a possibility in the first place. Reflecting on it you guys never really did anything that bad, I was just fishing for a reason. At times for sure. As much as I wanted to believe I had thick skin when it came to the community (being part of a certain someone's PDSS who didn't put up with bitching), I was very lacking in that regard. The main reason for my resignation was the perception of me to the community. It seemed 75% of the community wanted me gone, the 25% were slowly getting to that point as well.
  3. For those of you that don't know me, and for those of you that have (rightfully) forgotten about me, I am Kendal. I was a manager on GGMRP for a short while, and a player for longer than I imagined I would be. In my time on the server, I had a lot of fun with some really great players. I joined numerous factions and even got to lead one, and I fucking loved every day I played on the server. Now I'm here to admit something that I should have a long time ago. I was a shithead. Garnet gave me the opportunity to manage the server for him, and what did I do with that opportunity? I wiped my ass with it and became someone I regret being. I'll admit I used a lot of my "power" to attack those that pissed me off, to influence whatever decisions I could to keep players I didn't like from getting where they wanted to be on the server, and ultimately I abandoned a group of players that I loved, to shit on them and their enjoyment of the server. Worst of all, I let Garnet and the community down by being a very flaky manager. I was never concrete in my decisions, always changing my mind, and doing things I was sure I wanted to do one moment, and then abandoned later. Some of the time I would attack or straight out destroy staff members that didn't agree with me, or that I didn't like (Millerjerm, Viva, Godfather) to name a few. I didn't like how Viva handled things as a staff member, I didn't like my perception of the faction he led, and overall I didn't like that someone that I didn't know as well as Jim and Aidan had the same level of power as they did. Aidan and Jim were my close friends, so I knew they'd be more inclined to agree with me, whereas Viva probably wouldn't. Millerjerm's only fault was that he was inactive. But I removed him under that reason, with the real reason being I didn't like him. Godfather was also inactive, he and Jer were the only staff members I can genuinely say I didn't remove out of spite for them. I wiped MARSOC to put a friend in charge of it I wiped SEALs to put a friend in charge of it. I wanted to wipe Vega to put a very controversial friend in charge of it, another reason I removed Viva from the higher staff. I never went through with this because In this act, I knew I was being a spiteful shithead. I fell into the wrong group, completely ignoring my priority to the staff team that I'd be an unbiased member of it, AND I WAS LEADING IT. I went after players that I didn't like or players that my "friends" didn't like. (all of Flame's PDSS, Silo, Chief members, Topshot, etc.) Basically anyone that was having a good time playing the server on RU. I shit on Buddha, Hard. Someone who had my back after I stepped down and was super kind to me the entire time we knew each other. I fucking regret this. My "friends" went after buddha, so I decided to do the same. This in my mind was the worst thing I ever did as a member of the community. Utter betrayal to a good friend. I made decisions that hurt my reputation and rapport with players that had been with me since I joined the server. I made numerous threats to harm factions over minor infractions. I attacked players that were in hard situations, failing to understand things from their point of view. I had a strong belief that the players were dumb and didn't know what they wanted, so rules/decisions they didn't like were just them being dumb. This is not an appropriate belief for someone that was at my level should have. And again, worst of all I failed Garnet, the server, and the community by taking the opportunity he gave me and shitting on it. For things I did after my time as manager, such as rejoining the server and attacking millerjerm, P2W members, and others I disliked while I was manager, I apologize. Ever since I stepped down as manager, I've had a chip on my shoulder due to the reputation I had which was ultimately destroyed by my stupidity. I can't play the server anymore despite how badly I want to because I feel as though I don't belong anymore due to my behavior. Im not looking to gather pity, forgiveness, or anything like that. I just want to be able to play again someday with my mind focused on the future of the server, rather than the past. I want to be able to play without hating or disliking people over dumb shit that was my fault in the first place. To the entirety of the community, to Garnet himself, I am sorry for my actions. With this thread I want to provide clarity into my actions as manager, and after. You all deserve the truth of the stupid things I did.
  4. My second favorite map only beaten by delta. Im all for echo v1
  5. Listening to these, I'm imagining your fucking 11B player model rapping this while crouch spamming on a tank. Btw I fuck with your music man. The first one reminds me of that Joey Trap song. Tables I think.
  6. Some real "last hope" vibes on this one. Good luck to all the staff, and Phantom. Hopefully you guys can turn things around!
  7. Toggling off when simming/going against friends in war is probably common practice so that the friends can have deniability and say exactly what you are saying. And I'll quote topshot on this The clip @0zzy responded with is pretty sus, I was never great at catching hackers when I was staff, but in my mind that is AT LEAST esp cheats. Although I do also have to agree with topshot in saying, I think more evidence should be shown in order to establish further undeniability in this case.
  8. In-game name: Kendal Age [minimum 15 y/o]: 22 SteamID: STEAM_0:0:50072294 Timezone: PST Playtime? : | 75R SGT Kendal has played for 2100:27:15. Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: Yes Referral(s): Homast Have you ever made any previous applications? If so, when?: No How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Currently working a job at an amazon warehouse, however I have the weekends off so I should be able to contribute the most during the weekend. In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: The responsibilities of a gamemaster in my mind all relate to enhancing the player experience on the server in numerous ways. One way in which a gamemaster can enhance the player experience on the server is by fully utilizing their creativity to use the tools provided to them and make fun, in-depth, and RP related events to the server to give players a unique experience. In essence a good event should combine the combat of the server, with realistic scenarios in which players can feel as if their actions matter. While war on GGMRP is the main thing to do, a gamemaster should be providing ideas and creating these scenarios to keep players drawn into the server even when war is not active. I'd say that the main responsibility of a gamemaster is providing a fun experience for players on the server that the players can feel invested in. Gamemasters must work closely together in crafting events or creating narratives in which the players will be interested in and engaged with. As a gamemaster I would say another responsibility i'd have is giving Garnet feedback on how well events are working with the playerbase. Making sure that Garnet is up to date on how well the gamemasters are doing in their role, and the perception of events according to players is key to a well communicative team of people dedicated to keeping the server running exceptionally. As a gamemaster the most important thing is keeping the playerbase entertained through the means stated above, server politics or friend groups/personal biases should never come before that. I believe that I can meet all of the responsibilities that I have stated here in order to be a contributing member of the game master team. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: Personally, I would like to provide the MRP community a story in which they can feel that their actions matter. By tying events into somewhat of a written narrative that helps them to understand that their actions in these RP driven events can potentially tie into a narrative in which their names will be mentioned, and their actions will be remembered. RP events and a good story go hand in hand, and crafting these things together with the cooperation and help from the other gamemasters could prove to be something that helps events and RP become more popular with players, changing the general perception of RP in the community in a positive and non-forceful way. Essentially, I'd like to take the RP events that the gamemaster team creates, and weave them into a story that the community can look at and feel as if they made choices, or took part in something that actually matters in the grand scheme of things. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: As stated above, crafting a story that ties into the RP events that take place could prove to be something that really pulls players in and draws them to RP more and more. Not only events, but things that the players themselves do can be weaved into a story or an RP event. With that being done properly, players may start to take their actions more seriously. Faction leaders may begin to take more and more action to make sure that their faction members are getting involved in the events and ever changing story that I'd like to help create. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] Operation Trichuris: Operation Trichuris is meant to be an Operation carried out by Russian Special Force operatives that intend to cause the United States to destroy itself with chaos. This operation would take place over the course of a couple of seperated events / days, in which the Russian operatives disguised as US special forces soldiers commit terrorist level attacks against the US in order to cause infighting, and chaos within the US FOB. With the US distracted dealing with it's problems, Russia can advance and gain advantages over the US. After this event takes place, a couple days will pass before the next event takes place. Aftermath: This event Ties into Operation Trichuris. With the US factions at each other's necks over the event that took place within their walls, Special Forces teams are tasked with identifying the true cause of the terrorist event, multiple factions working together to find out what really happened. In this event the Green Beret infiltrate a Russian Civilian controlled Company in order to find any information that would fit the description of the events that transpired within the US FOB. What they find instead, is mention of an Operation Trichuris documented in Russian. They must extract that information and inform the General of the document. I don't have a name yet for this one: After finding out that the Russians might be behind the Terrorist attack on the US base, The General authorizes an operation to take place to find the truth. In this event, Green Beret will arm local civilians with weaponry to create a militia, to attack the Russian controlled Factory. When the Militia begins to fight, Rangers will scout the battle from afar, the goal of the attack is to get Russia to send their military as reinforcements to stop the factory from being taken. Rangers will alert the Seals when the Russian reinforcements arrive to the battle, and from there the Seals will infiltrate the RU FOB and find evidence that Russia was behind Operation Trichuris. The civilian militia should be able to hold off the Russians long enough that the Seals can find documentation, but once they find what they are looking for they need to extract, with RU on their way back to their FOB. However with the Militia being defeated, Russian Operatives will interrogate the survivors, and find out that the US Green Beret armed and backed the Militia. Conflict in Town: With the US finding out that Russia was behind the terrorist attack, and Russia finding out that the US Green Beret armed a Militia to attack their factory, tensions are high. Two parties scout the local town, one Party is russian 2GA, the other is US 11B. The two patrols stumble across one another, and with the tensions being as high as they are, both parties open fire on one another without any permission to do so from higher ups, pinning each other down. With neither side able to get out of the situation, Russian Vega operatives come to give the 2GA suppressive fire so they can get out without casualties. With this conflict, both US and RU begin arguing to explain the actions of their armed forces. The Climax: Through the events that transpired over the last couple of days, it was only a matter of time before full scale battles broke out between Russian and United states forces. This all Climaxed at company. The General caught word that the local Militia that Green Beret supplied had been beaten off of company by Russian Forces. Rangers are dispatched in order to scout the situation and check for Russian military numbers at Company, however on the way there they are intercepted by Russian PDSS members and are KIA, with one being taken hostage at company. With no other solution, the General sends as large a force he can muster to take back company and save the sole remaining Ranger from the patrol. The outcome of this depends on who wins the battle ultimately. If the U.S pushes Russia off of company, they save the ranger and can gain a lot of Russian intelligence being stored there. If Russia wins the battle, the ranger dies and the US lose the support of the local militia that they helped fund. This is a series of events that I created in order to create a narrative, and try to start an overarching story of why US and RU are fighting each other in the first place, and my hope is that while it adds interesting lore, it is also fun to play and establishes the roles each faction involved has in future events and RP purposes. I have many more ideas that I could put forward with the Gamemaster team, and I'd love to see these events come to the server even if I am not a gamemaster. In no way are the events I listed here perfect by any means. I don't have all of the details for them yet either. However I am sure with the support and help from other Gamemasters, we could Iron out any inconsistencies, add more detail, and create something amazing.
  9. Part A- Player vs. Vote- C Player vs Player (3+ factions) Explanation: Having mutliple countries/factions to join on the server seems to have been (from my understanding of old GGMRP) a staple of our MRP server in the past. However with our now much lower player population it would be incredibly hard to find competent players that can lead the new countries as well as those country's SOC factions. If that can somehow be done with the current state of the server, I could see it working pretty well. Especially allowing the politics of the server to actually work in a gameplay sense rather than just starting drama or bullshit in TS. It would be pretty awesome and suspenseful to see US working with UK in a sensitive and tense treaty of sorts in order to beat back RU and AFG together. But again, the only way I'd like to see this is if there could be competent and responsible players in charge of every SOC, who are also somewhat experienced in roleplaying in order to engage in treaties, special ops, etc with other countries. It gives me a lot of ideas that can be expanded upon. I already have a couple ideas for some awesome RP based events that could take place within this system. With all that being said though, I'm more inclined right now to believe that would be an almost impossibility with the current state of the server. If it can be executed properly, then I'd love to see this brought to MRP. Hopefully in the coming time it will take to develop these systems, population can pick up a bit and people could shine through that are capable of leading responsibly. Part B- Map Vote- B I think right now, the gameplay on the current map is stale. The jump spam sniping Meta has been widely popular since I joined the server in september of last year (the map was delta). However in a more Urban map, I could see the Meta change significantly considering that if done properly, an urban environment would be crowded and at times claustrophobic. Making sniping something you could only do in key spots. Right now on Taiga we have a problem where basically anywhere on the map is a spot a sniper could pick to camp at, especially on the mountains / hills (which there are a lot of). In an urban environment with less in the way of open area and more in the way of CQC room to room engagements, this allows new players to learn and excel without the need to pick up a sniper. I have Ideas for the map itself as well, if it had buildings that had multiple rooms/floors, if you've played a COD game then you'd see that in Urban maps like this there is usually scaffolding that can be used as an entry point, or makeshift bridges which give access from one building rooftop to the rooftop of another building. Convenient stores could be crowded with knocked over shelves that could be used for cover, abandoned vehicles in an alleyway could be used for cover, however (if you could code them to be destructible) then the vehicles could explode making them only a temporary solution to hiding from gunfire. This kind of map even gives way for some level of storytelling... For example Graffiti lines the walls of buildings and streets, maybe in some buildings you could see that there is a living room, dining room, a child's bedroom with a couple of toys, a baby rattle maybe. A crib? You go into the market and see what used to be fresh produced stocked is now rotting and moldy, maybe you'll see a TV that is on, but the channel is nothing but static. Passing by an abandoned house you'll hear a radio, but of course it is also nothing but static. All these things to remind you the objectives you are taking, the apartment building that you are cautiously using as transport to an objective, the city that has become a warzone is a place where people once lived. This ghost town with nothing but enemy combatants is a place someone used to call home. You place a prox mine inside of a small apartment, hoping that while it may kill or disable your enemy, that it hopefully doesn't destroy this room in the process, to serve to you as a reminder that this was someone's home. Part - C wars Vote - B Elongated peacetime Elongated wars I've never thought that war itself was a bad thing in MRP. For the longest time I used to view war as the only thing that really mattered on the server given that peacetime was so boring. However I now realize that playing an MRP server purely for the war aspect is redundant since I could find a much better time PvPing in COD. What should make MRP so far above that experience though is the unique progression. You aren't just some nameless soldier getting promoted on your K/D ratio. You have a name, other players know it, and if you play your cards right then eventually you can become a leader, giving some actual semblance to your rank, and your name. For this reason, I think peacetime and war should be stretched out. With a longer peacetime the Game masters could set up events that are given a briefing during peacetime, and with a longer war time those events can be longer. Peacetime being longer will complement the complexity of the event very well. This also gives factions more time to plan their tryouts and execute them, they wouldn't be under as much pressure to get things done quickly. Not only that, but if the 3+ country idea is implemented, then longer peacetime gives them more time to plan out and execute special operations, or negotiate temporary peace treaties etc. Tying an economy into a longer peace time could also give way to bribing another country to do something. What if U.S paid U.K to perform a special raid on the RU FOB to cause a panic and chaos, RU would blame the U.K for this further increasing tensions between the two, while U.S looks like it had nothing to do with it. There are so many possibilities that I cannot list them all here. But overall longer peace / war time can do a lot to benefit the server imo. Part F- Suggestions & unique content Vote - Torn between weapon skins and badges If badges are essentially titles that go underneath your name over your head, then I think this would create a good amount of incentive for people to play the game certain ways. Do you want "Merciless" to be under your name? "Get x amount of enemy kills in x period of time". You want Crackshot? "Get x amount of headshots on enemies in x amount of wars". To me that would be a lot of extra content with a decently small change. The hope in my mind is that people would work to collect all of the badges they can in order to show off to their friends. Weapon skins are in a similar light. Badges and weapon skins would both serve no purpose other than player vanity, however they could be essential to certain OTHER aspects of the server. For example weapon skins could kickstart a player economy. Where skins could be earned through achievement, through rank, through player level, buying them from the donor store, in-game money shops, and the best ones would be reserved for players that do exceptionally in Game master driven Events. Being able to trade these skins on somewhat of a "auction house" (let's call it) will drive players to make more money by carrying out RP events, Staff events, performing well during war, etc, so that they can feel a sense of accomplishment when finally buying that weapon skin from the AH. This would definitely keep people playing, the sheer desire to have a shinier toy than someone else. I don't mean to make this sound negative, while it is purely for vanity there is a lot of good that can come from this. I'm torn between the two because while Badges would keep people playing so they could get cool titles under their name, Weapon skins would open up numerous different avenues for the server.
  10. You're clearly not getting my point. CURRENTLY vega going out to patrol gives them ZERO in the way of intel. Infact, intel gathering in general on the current server state is useless. What kind of intel does Vega get for going on patrol right now? Maybe learning that you can climb a certain tree on the map? Or double jump onto a certain box? They don't know enemy troop placement because, there are no enemies on any objectives during peacetime (Which is the main reason to scout anyways...) If Garnet implements Objectives that are always active, on a bigger map, that means Vega could go patrol, and find out what objectives the enemies are attacking, alert other RU factions, and create a group to go push the enemy off of the objective. You can't really do that during peacetime in the current server since, nobody is capping objectives during peacetime.
  11. Yeah I hear you. Peacetime is pretty boring... What if there was no peacetime? At any point you could decide to take a group of new people, show them how to capture an objective, what the enemy looks like, show them the rules of engagement etc without needing to wait for war? Maybe if peacetime just straight up didn't exist, people would always have something they could do? No, you're getting it twisted my guy. The genre of MRP is exactly that, a Military Role Play. You're assuming based on how the server currently handles RP that it was always meant to be RP only sometimes, and TDM most the time. When it's in reality supposed to be RP for a good portion of the time you play. So in a constant OBJ scenario, you could be a recon squad that's hanging around the objective another squad is taking to alert them of hostile forces. You could be a raid squad that is raiding the enemy base to buy the rest of your faction time to capture points while the enemy is dealing with chaos in their base. There's a lot more fun involved in anything when you yourself can create that fun. That's the whole point of gmod, it's a sandbox game. But vega doing that right now with the current system we have doesn't really do much. What's the point of patrolling as of right now? To pretend we would get some useful information? Well if objectives were constantly up and for the taking, a patrol could actually give a lot of ACTUALLY useful info, such as enemy placement, objective prioritization and etc. The funny thing is, all the other servers aren't dying. Sure the small ones that never really stood a chance against IF and GGMRP are dying, but now GGMRP is dying, whereas the other popular servers are still hitting great population. And of course you'd be fine with it dying, you didn't put any actual work into the development or behind the scenes shit on the server. For you, you could just find another community to play in right? So long as you aren't wrong on a forums post at least.
  12. Well standing out and being different than other servers isn't doing MRP a whole lot of good right now, is it? With the massive dip in player pop, it's clear that new players don't want to stick around for whatever reason. I remember when I'd train recruits to either US or RU one question I'd get is "what is there to do while peacetime is active?" The answer? Not much really. Having a constant flow of objectives that need to be taken or fought over gives way for a lot more RP to be developed on the server by the players themselves. It gives Patrolling, Raids, Kidnaps, and Intel gathering some actual purpose. Imagine a scenario where Vega decides to go on a patrol, they see hostile forces heading to an objective, they radio that in, and suddenly RU can prepare more people to push the hostiles back and off the OBJ. All the people who are saying "GG MRP is unique for our war system! DONT CHANGE" Need to be willing to compromise. Either GGMRP Dies being "Unique" or it remains intact with changed systems to emulate the gameplay that it's clear people want. Why is GG struggling so hard while IF is still hitting max pop DURING a period where gmod is dying and MRP is a dying genre in general? They have a gameplay loop that players want. Garnet emulating that loop is not destroying the server's uniqueness, it's giving the players new things to do and new scenarios the players can create together. It's up to the players, how we treat each other, how we treat newcomer's that decides how we are unique, not the type of war system we have. Even the biggest AAA game developers bite off of other games, put their own unique twist on it because they know it's what the players want. Why do you think COD has a fucking Battle Royal now? Why do you think Halo 4 decided to take COD's multiplayer and essentially copy paste it with laser guns? Because people like it. In order to survive in any type of market, gaming or otherwise on some level you need to emulate what the competition is doing. It's up to us as the playerbase overall to create unique scenarios and oppurtunities that are specific to Garnet Gaming. The people, the community, and the way we play the server is unique to us. Not the war type. So again, either GGMRP Dies "Unique", or it adapts to a competitive genre and seeks to emulate and outdo the competition.
  13. Basically my time as manager in a nutshell. Not that I am special and deserve pity or anything like that. Staff In my mind, looking back on my time as staff, and the players opinions of me I can honestly say it isn't just the mindset of staff that needs to change. Sure some staff have their own vested interests to protect, friends to please, etc (which is a problem). However the players also have problems when staff do things for the good of the server, that happens to effect their friendgroup/faction/ideas, whatever that be. Case and point the reserves system. The reserves system is a clear-cut example of how differing the opinions of staff and players can be. It would take staff being genuinely honest with their intentions to make the players happy It would take players that appreciate and understand that staff members are trying to help in order to make staff happy with helping the players. On this point, I'd like to say that if staff and players could appreciate what they all do, the server would be in a much healthier state in that regard. If the community treats it's staff well, then the staff will treat their community well. With that being said, I'd also like to note that the main rule of being a staff member is that you reach conclusions in an unbiased and honest manor, if the community feels that it is being cheated then it will break things. Look at the relationship between staff and player as somewhat of an unwritten and non-verbal contract. Players believe staff will look after the community and protect it from minges, Intent massers, hackers, etc. And in return the staff expect that the community will stay healthy and flourish with new players and a lot of fun for the community as a whole. But what happens when someone within the community is loved by many, masses or does some dumb shit to catch a ban. Well on staff's side of things, they are doing their job in protecting the community, whereas the players are now in an uproar because they really like that guy. It's fine when 2GA PVT Noname gets banned, but not when V SGT (Insert name here) gets banned. See what I mean? And that kind of pressure puts staff in a position where they have to pick and choose when they need to uphold their end of the bargain because they don't want to be roasted by the community, and they also don't want the community to become toxic and destructive. To end that part, it is not only the staff mindset that needs to change. The players need to understand the decisions that staff make without causing an uproar on forums or OOC whenever things happen. OF COURSE if something is clearly bullshit (staff banning a player for a dumb reason or staff not banning a hacker because they are friends) then that is cause for concern and anger. Now when I was a staff member, I belonged to a friend-group. However I tried my best to keep myself unbiased when it came to that friend group. As an example, Whiskey was a good friend of mine, however when he intent massed on a claim, Jim and I agreed he should be banned at the time. As I got higher in staff, and I was more pressed to deal with larger and larger issues, my attitude needed to change to fit the role of manager. My old friends began pushing me away because they felt as if my decisions were being made to hurt them, or that because I was their friend I should be more lenient with them. So having no friends, I started talking to other people (This included Jackal) and so all the sudden it was the opinion of many members of the community that I was a puppet for memeware/Jackal. This was my experience, and was what ultimately led to me resigning. I was trying to do the right thing, trying to be fair with what I did, and I still got shit on for it. My old friends had all thought that I "changed", and they were right. I HAD to change. Because I was no longer GRU SPRP Milton, I was a manager in the community and I was tasked with acting and being more mature and responsible to uphold my commitment to that "contract" I spoke of earlier in my post. This goes for most staff, especially the higher ups. We all come from small friend groups, and if my experience taught me anything it's that as soon as you obtain any sort of decision making power, you need to come to terms with the potential to lose the friends you knew since day 1 on the server. This in no way is meant to beg for your pity or empathy for me, it's moreso just giving insight to the ordeals I faced as a staff member, and why staff isn't the only issue when it comes to the community aspect. More Content/Changes to the server While an indefinite war system sounds great, in reality it would change a lot and if this idea was pursued staff and the playerbase would need to adjust rapidly to accommodate said change. Not to say it's a horrible idea. This would make a lot more RP possible, for example it would actually make it worth the RP effort to go on a patrol with your squad outside of base. One of the dumbest and most redundant things I could think of when going on patrols on the server is "what's the point?". Even if we had found an enemy convoy or something during the patrols, it's not like we could do anything. The RP information would be redundant "Looks like enemies are outside of embassy" in comms, only to be thinking to myself "Why the fuck does it matter since it isn't war?". But lets say in an indefinite war system, you take a small team to patrol an objective, and you see a huge wave of enemy troops on route to capture it, well suddenly your info becomes way more important as now you can mass up a team of reinforcements to go prevent them from taking it. With indefinite war Kidnaps could have more RP value as well, as now you'd be able to find out patrol routes or plans the enemy has to take an obj, etc in RP terms. The kidnap system right now consists of (kidnap bind) | (Interrogate kidnapee) | (Kidnapee pretends he's someone else) | (He gets killed because either the kidnap timer is up or you get bored of him). Raids would ALSO have more RP value. Because now you can raid the enemy base, and they could potentially be getting ready to go capture an objective, that raid would cause a lot of disorder and could potentially by your side more time to prepare a defense against the enemy capture attempt. Altogether indefinite war adds some more RP value to the server, the ideas presented here are only a couple. HOWEVER with that system new rules would need to be implemented or current rules changed so that they make sense in the context of the new system. What counts as RDM if it's technically always war? Precap wouldn't be a thing anymore, Preproxxing rules don't make sense anymore, that's a lot of work for staff. And to add to that, Garnet would have to do a ton of work on the development side of things because he couldn't just copy paste another popular server's war system, he'd have to change or create a new one from the ground up which takes time. however I am all for this system if Garnet can find the time and resources to develop it, and the staff team can create rules to accommodate it, AND the players can enjoy and get used to it. I feel as if the system would make RP have actual in game value and purpose, players can actually create their own mini-events easier in this system. At least in my mind.

    Ban Apeal

I think I remember the ban itself, and I believe it was either me that did it after @Alex Conway told me what was happening, or maybe I just told conway to put the ban in. Either way Adverting was, and still is against the rules, Having said that though it was 6 months ago, and I along with Conway are no longer part of the staff team. I'll avoid adding a +1 or a -1 and just let the current staff team do their job. Either way, good luck on the appeal.
  15. Why is my -1 any less valuable than your +1? I mean they are both opinions. Is it because a huge chunk of the community will agree react your post whereas mine is cringe reacted? At the end of the day they are both opinions, whether or not you have significant backing by others who share the same opinion shouldn't outweigh mine. That's for the accepting/denying staff on this suggestion to decide. Speaking of staff decisions, from what I know the higher staff of the MRP community agreed to this decision, with Garnet himself also being a contributor to the decision. Many of the points used for AND against the reserves "comeback" are speculative. My points are based on first-hand experience I had with the system when I was a player, and later a Manager on the server. I was part of nearly every faction, and had reserves in nearly every faction. The points I made in my initial response to this thread were things I saw others doing, and things I myself was doing. I was a US main and the COL of Green Beret, yet quite often just for shits and giggles I would switch over to my PDSS reserves or something just to dick around, usually helping the US lose yet another war at a time when US was ALWAYS losing wars to RU. You could probably imagine how frustrating it might have been if you were a US player that knew me as the GB leader, helping RU to win yet another war. And I wasn't the only one doing this. That is only 1 point in my argument based on speculation. I'm sorry my points don't fit your narrative, but my opinion on the matter carries as much weight as yours does.
  16. I'd probably play MRP again if what the community wants and what I want was similar or something that could be compromised on. I'm all for responsible and limited usage of the reserves system, the community favors an archaic and broken system prone to abuse and redundancy. As a member of the community, and someone who used to play very actively I feel as if I am still allowed to have an opinion on things. I'm pretty sure you'd stop playing MRP yourself if the server changed in a direction you didn't like. So using that argument of "well you don't play anymore" only serves to set up a hypocritical error way down the line when you make your resignation post and say "The server isn't the same as x so I'm resigning." You'll weigh in and have an opinion on threads that you yourself once said you shouldn't because you don't play anymore. It happens to everyone for the most part. Very rarely does someone quit playing the server and die a whimper of a death with no presence on the forums. Even perm banned players like to weigh in and give support to certain topics. So that entire argument is just self-defeating. Especially when you consider a good chunk of the player base RIGHT NOW are people who quit playing for an extended period of time, and came back to a changed server.
  17. A good majority of people on the server have since moved to different factions and are progressing well enough within them. If you want to be part of another faction, just leave your current faction and tryout for another one. Reserves for serious IRL reasons is good! It gives you a chance to be away a while and come back to where you left off. Reserves for what YOU want it for is used for a couple things: 1. Playing the server for a day, dick around a bit, leave again for a couple weeks, come back and dick around rinse repeat. 2. You bounce between factions quite frequently. One war you're on your Seal MOS, the next you're on your PDSS MOS, meanwhile you're an active member in MARSOC. Why are you playing for all teams? (Not speaking about YOU specifically, this is an example.) 3. You joined MARSOC for the models and sniper, but don't really know if you like the people in it so at any moment you can leave, fuck your faction over (in some cases your country entirely), and fall back on one of your previous factions. BUT not before you get reserves in MARSOC so that you can always go back to that when the 1 friend you had in it finally takes it over, proceeding to fuck over the faction you hopped back to. 4. Bragging rights. You don't need the whitelists or reserve rank though, thats what your forum signature is for! and 5. "helping" with tryouts. Even though you aren't an active member of the faction anymore, and the players trying out for the faction don't know you and probably won't see you much, you have the chance to shit on them in tryouts (remember as a non-active duty member of the faction) and leave them wondering next time they see the whole GRU squad together, why you aren't there? The guy that kept them from getting in. -1
  18. 0221 gang represent You've been a great guy through and through since I stepped into the server in your 2GA. Despite drama and controversy around my time as manager, you were a great guy to have by my side even when I had doubts. I'm sorry I left the server like, as soon as you got manager. I didn't really get to see all the great shit you did, I just heard about it 2nd hand through forums. You were a great 2nd IC in my GB, and would often curb my worst impulses as a leader. I've got a lot of respect for you man, sucks to see you go.
  19. GRU was pretty fun man, can we take it back to those times or am I just a nostalgia head? I think the craziest shit I remember was getting into like, a 3 hour long debate over socialism/marxism with you and Rem. Good luck with whatever you do. If you ever get a scholarship for that football shit, let me know what uni you're playing for.
  20. I consider myself a decent builder on minecraft. However I cannot begin to understand how much patience went into creating that spiral to almost lifelike detail. You should go on Fiverr and advertise that you can build for servers and shit.
  21. The community? I don't imagine Garnet would be setting up AFSOC and an Event server for just himself. I believe the intent behind them was to give the MRP community more to do. The event server has not been completed and useable to the community for half a year. And neither has AFSOC. If you are refering to me as a player, then I don't understand what this has to do with the points I made. Please go more in-depth to the things I laid out that you disagreed with. My response to this thread wasn't arguing anything to anybody. I'm tired of arguing. It was more of a plea, don't let something with a lot of good potential go to waste over a little controversy. The event server and AFSOC could serve a lot of good to the MRP community in the long run, I feel.
  22. The complete removal of AFSOC and the event server this early in their existence means destroying a lot of hard-work achieved to set them up with no real reward for having set them up in the first place. AFSOC hasn't been given a proper chance to be anything with a purpose yet because it is still new, and developing. If everyone were to quit, and shut things down at the first bump in the road we wouldn't have A LOT of games, movies, inventions, etc that are currently available to us. I know that statement seems negligible in the small scope of a moderately sized Gmod community, however the sentiment should reach you in the same way. There is a lot of good that can come from new features being added to the server, but without giving them time to be properly setup, explored, and given a purpose, it means a lot of hours wasted. Understanding there is a problem, and working with the powers that be to fix those problems would be far more worthwhile than just saying "Eh fuck it, we tried, nothing happened, see ya." It's far too early, and far too soon (after certain events took place) to fully judge what should happen to these things that were created with a lot of time and passion. Give it a little while, if nothing changes then it could be assumed that AFSOC and the Event server are dead in the water. But the whole shrimps thing happened a couple days ago. Give the situation some breathing room, and ask Garnet what he plans to do, rather than advocating for it's entire removal at the first sign of trouble.
  23. Ups and downs, and some controversy. I didn't always agree with you and we had our arguments from time to time, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you dedicated a lot of time to the community. So regardless of those arguments or disagreements we've had, it's still crazy to see you go after being around for so long. From the time you +1'd my staff app on my earliest days on MRP, up to you being in Vega and us not being as tight, you'll be missed G. Good luck with whatever game you decide to main. (I hear albion online is fun... I wouldn't know though c; )
  24. +1 to this. Baiting a false arrest is pretty scuffed. There are other ways to decorate the base.
