DISCLAIMER: Obviously biased as I'm currently active GRU.
GRU models are currently only used in the following circumstances:
Tryouts
Headglitching
RP Events
Zero Donator Classes
No current GRU members will use our playermodels in war, outside of GRU sniper, as it's virtually a death sentence. I like the models themselves, but the hitboxes definitely need adjusting.
It makes our tryouts wack too, as a lot of people will aim for the head, when in reality it doesn't do any more damage.
Overall, I'd be down for a hitbox adjustment, though a playermodel swap would be fine as well, if doable.

This looks sick, damn. I'll mark it on my calendar.

Yeah you go sit in a faction at the lowest enlisted rank for a few months I’m sure you’ll have the time of your life
If you felt like you were being treated unfairly, why did you stay in the faction?

This seems like an interesting idea, could definitely switch up "the meta"
9 minutes ago, shrimp said:Because of this, sniper gameplay is going to deviate from the current meta of just running around and going into head to head sniper battles to more calculated and strategic stationary sniping. No more running around, pausing for a moment, flicking a pixel 150m away, and moving on with your life. This will force players to take their time, carefully choose their targets, and seek out positions that will help them retain the most cover without being seen.
For slow, arthritic pensioners like myself, I'd prefer this method of sniping over what we currently have.

I haven't interacted much with Fier, but he seems to be a levelheaded individual.
Good application, and has previous staff experience. Also has good logic when responding to suggestion posts, which I like to see.

Good application.
I had first hand experience today on how helpful you can be when it comes to fixing problems.
We have some differing opinions on how things should be done, but ultimately discussion leads to positive change. I enjoy people with different opinions than my own.
In addition to the reasons above and my previous statements , I'd like to see you on the staff team.

Damn, did not know about the quick scope swap. Nice guide!

Personally, I think this would make many people very upset. Paying for one donor weapon and instead receiving another doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
This would make fighting hp boosted classes much, much harder as well.
I'd prefer buffing the SOC weapons rather than nerfing the donor ones.
I do think the Orsis is a bit too strong, but I think the donor Mosin is balanced.
May clarify more when I'm at a computer.
For the moment, -1

I'd like to see more scope variety on the Mosin.
Would this be for the donor Mosin, the GRU mosin, or both? -

didn't seem to be working this morning unfortunately.
Just tried it myself, confirmed.

+1 Mature and active. All of my interactions with Larry have been positive. Not to mention the staff application is excellent.
Feel free to add me to your referrals.

A good compromise for this is to have DB Protection 10 minutes before/after war, in order to prevent DB raids, after which it turns off. I'm not sure if this is possible for Garnet to do this though.
This would allow tryouts to happen as they did before, removing people would be quick and easy (some people don't want/don't understand they need to leave), while still preventing DB raids which seems to be the main point of controversy here.- 2

This suggestion saves staff from having to type in extra text, and prevents them from forgetting to type it.
It also lets people know they can appeal their ban, which I'm all for.Seems like a good QoL change +1

What you're thinking of is a CK, where you effectively get wiped from everything. PK is just a name change, if that clears anything up.
It would make managing the roster of base factions quite painful if new players get kidnapped and don't understand the rules/how docs work.
I see what you're trying to go for here, and while interesting, should probably only be done within SOC factions, if the leader wants to.-1 for now, open to the idea for SOC/Spetsnaz on a limited basis

One thing that has really been a problem is the player cap, while not an issue most of the time, it can really start to drag the server. When the player count reaches around 110 in players, the server's performance drops immensely, the war timer and OBJs break, causing people to have to restart the server to be able to make callouts. Also, the server itself starts to really lag, causing it to be incredibly hard to kill and enjoy wars or even peacetime stuff like match is almost impossible to do.
What I'm suggesting is either upgrade the server (I don't know if this one's possible, given what I've heard about the server's cost is already.) or decrease the player limit to prevent the server from becoming too laggy/broken.
This will surely benefit those who wish to enjoy both war and peacetime without having overcoming lag on practically everything, also makes the server more appealing to newer players when they aren't seeing everyone skip and teleport around.
From experience, increasing server specs can massively increase cost for performance that is not parallel to what you're paying for. Only Garnet knows what he's paying for the hardware, so I can't really comment much more on this.
The main issue with GMOD is the engine wasn't designed for so many people to be on at the same time, if memory serves correct. Increasing "the specs" may not have much impact on latency people are getting, decreasing the player count might, but as I haven't run a GMOD server before, I'm not sure what the "sweet spot" is for players/performance.

I agree that there should only be one base/entry/starter faction on US. In addition to what Dillan said above, with one faction, there's no worry about competing for players between the US base factions, something that has happened in the past and it increases cohesiveness across US.I'm not sure how I feel about 1MD being a SOF-lite faction, but I can't think of an alternative at the moment in this scenario besides what Dillan suggested or wiping it.
Would MARSOC continue to function as before, or would it be a tier higher?
As for new players joining the server, I think a neutral spawn would work best, as it prevents one side from getting too many players.

Ah, missed the part where the vehicles themselves will be on a different server. Seems pretty cool, keep up the good work!

Definitely has potential to change up the "meta".
What would be the hit to server/client performance with the vehicles added?

My favorite moment would have to be making it into GRU.
I was super tired when I did tryouts, it was like 10 at night and I had been up since 4AM. I joined the next day and saw GRU in my name so I realized I had passed.
We have lots of fun in GRU, and my skills at the game have definitely improved since i joined.

So, I can see grenade friendly fire being turned on as positive, as generally only players who invest time/money into the server will have those.
But turning friendly fire on for everything is asking for trouble.
It's all fun and games until a group of several people decide to mass their team on the obj, because they're new to the game/they're trolling.
This will significantly increase the bans for mass, or at the very least, the reports. Also, I don't see MP's ever coming back due to the potential for abuse.
I'm not completely against the idea, I just think it'll cause more trouble than it's worth.

I don’t think anyone even plays this gamemode, so I’d just leave it be
1 minute ago, Harris said:Just don’t pick it, it hasn’t been actively played and enjoyed for probably 4-5 maps And hasn’t worked for about 3-4 maps
My secondary purpose was to bring this to Garnet's attention that it's still broken. But agreed, it can probably be left alone.

Let's get into it.
Search and Destroy is still bugged, attempting to place the bug results in script errors, making it impossible for the bomb planters to win.
I didn't see any threads on it, so I decided to post one.
If anyone has screenshots, feel free to post them.
Edit in response to Garnet:I was on my laptop when I made the thread. Completely forgot to upload some off of my other computer. My point's moot now though,
I would remove search and destroy for the time being. If there's a development server, it could be worked out on that, but honestly, I think there's higher priorities then a game-mode that hasn't worked in a long time.
As a side note, I also noticed a massive drop in my fps after the search and destroy war yesterday (normally get between 170-180, was going down as low as 30 afterwords), even with full GMOD+Steam+PC restarts. Not sure if it's related, will do some more sleuthing.
Vega Enforcer weapon swap.

Personally, I don't know any Prestige players who actually use the PKM over another donater / the CZ, I know I certainly don't. Standing still with a bipod+PKM Is a death sentence for the most part, as like Gamma has said, it opens you up to flanks + getting domed.
In addition, Jug has the Ares Shrike, not the PKM, and is mainly used for the 300 HP and grenades, which is why it excels at village, as you can chuck grenades in houses+hold corners/stairs well with 300 HP, regardless of weapon.
Personally, I believe the state of LMG's entirely is not great, but I also remember the days when they were way too strong...
I'm all for weapons changes, but for now, a tentative -1, as I believe Vega classes have an abundance of other weapons that are great, and that LMG's as a whole need to be looked at.
