+1 See you on a lot and you're always really cool and nice to everyone you talk to in OOC. Hope to see you on the staff team soon!

I'm not entirely sure where to post this so if this isn't the appropriate forum please move it to where would be more applicable. On Friday night, I reached Prestige 5 Level 100 and went to buy my prestige token, as-per the usual method of prestiging. However, I misclicked the notice that says "Your level will be set to 1 upon use" and has an Agree or Decline box: I clicked Decline. Normally I would expect declining it to not do anything, however it ended up still subtracting 10 million from my ingame money and I had to "buy" the token again to actually attain Prestige Level 6. I have a good feeling this is not expected behavior of the prestige token but as I'm likely the first person to hit Decline on that notice it's been until now that no one knew of this issue. I'm sure Garnet could rather easily test this to confirm, but I have also uploaded a video to confirm the issue: Naturally, I'd like to get back the 10 mill but more importantly I think this needs looked at as there's people who are grinding up to 10 mill in order to prestige and if they lost all of their money and didn't prestige they'd likely quit.

Yes, so Chigger had killed 7 people, and admitted that at least 3 of them were "threatening him" however none of the people he killed did any damage to him. Additionally, on the sit, the person he killed he had claimed was "trying to enter my house" however he did not have a KOS sign. This is admitted below: I went on to explain that the first rule in the Rules list for "Building and Basing Rules" is You may only kill someone inside your base if you have a KOS sign placed on the exterior of the building. Then, after I told you I would have to give you a 2 week ban after you admitted to Mass RDM (3 kills without a valid RP reason), but before I could process it (after thoroughly explaining that those kills were RDM due to no KOS and no RP reason to kill them besides "verbal threats" with no evidence) you left right in front of me. That's LTAP (Leaving To Avoid Punishment). Anyways, here's the full video: Skip to about 4:50 to see the LTAP portion. In addition, Taco554 had taken him as he'd had multiple RDM reports on him: After all 5 minutes of the sit and explaining his side of the story, admitting to killing 3 people without an RP reason, and then leaving so he would avoid punishment, I definitely felt it was justified. Review the footage for yourselves and decide, I'll be on to check this in the morning, good night.

You don't need to use the say: bind k "say -lol ; -left ; -forward ; -duck ; -walk" Instead, put the semicolon at the beginning: bind k " ; -left ; -forward ; -duck ; -walk" The semicolon is what makes it "stick" the command.

Congrats everyone, lots of sits this month!

No, because you told me this in PM when I simply told you that you should not be asking how to crash servers, this or any, in OOC at all. I'd honestly forgot that this was you until now, but Proggy is definitely right that you specifically said "How to crash the server?" in OOC. You did PM me trying to clarify it was to crash your friend server but asking how to crash the server in OOC is in no way a good look. If someone answered your OOC question with an actual answer, it could have wreaked chaos on the whole server. Trying to bring up "witnesses" against screenshot evidence won't help you either. Just because I was there and you tried explaining to me what you meant, doesn't mean that I'm going to be able to clear your name because it's simply not possible. If you wanted to clarify to anyone you should have done that in OOC as well, as there isn't much that can be done against hard evidence.

-1 Unfortunately recent evidence of Mysterio asking how to crash the server and threatening to mass has surfaced and this has changed my opinion on him being a positive member of the community. I hope he learns from this and reapplies when he realizes where he went wrong and learns from others telling him that asking how to crash the server in a global chat is not a good idea and a poor outlook on his character.

This staff application is not the place to put screenshots of a discord conversation as it's not only irrelevant to the app but it's clear people are faking quotes so I find this hard to believe.

+1 I've known lewis for about a week or two and he's been a very mature and respectable person. I've seen him help new players, and he's always been a calm and collected person. I've also never seen him minge, troll, or go out of his way to start shit in OOC or otherwise. In addition he's been active literally every single day I've been on since I've met him (I'M on for a minimum 5/7 days of the week...), and his sections for why he should be chosen are clearly well thought out.

Wow, didn't think I'd log in and see such a huge update! The vending machine relocation and pet sharks are huge.

Our servers were down thanks to Facepunch!
ShankNinja replied to Nutter's topic in Announcements & Important Information
Thanks for giving us an idea of the issue. I figured something whacky was happening behind-the-scenes, just didn't think it'd be Facepunch themselves. -
In-game name: Shankninja Age: 25 SteamID (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:1:18378805 Warns: Att RDM, honest mistake but I do own it as I was explained afterwards that I was in the wrong. Timezone: CST Playtime?: | ShankNinja has played for 634:45:14. Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: [YES/NO] YES Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?:[YES/NO] YES (OBS, already have over 1 Terabyte of footage to clean...) Referral(s): [What administrator recommended you to apply?] Lancey only official confirmed recommendation. Past experiences as staff: [Optional] Team Fortress 2 Admin/Owner of a few Surf/Idle servers, several other gameservers (Minecraft, Counter Strike: Source). Have never owned/operated/administrated a Garrysmod Server however (besides one with friends, very few addons - this was 10 years ago). I am extremely fluent in console and commands so I can quickly pick up and operate off of whatever commands and training is needed. Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] I'm a mature, nonbiased, player of the server. I have played over 580 hours in just over two month's time (an average of just over 8 hours per day) and I have been able to understand how the rules work, how things are handled, and how a level headed moderator works versus a new moderator. I know this from the various sits I've been in for reports and witnessed. I've seen how things are handled in usual circumstances and have a feel for how the log system is used and understand proof is required for a serious punishment. I also know not to use a punishment on a player that is heavier than the action, and that there are guidelines to understand and follow. In addition, I love interacting with and helping people on this server. Most people are pretty laid-back, and even those that aren't, I feel I'm capable of dealing with. I believe keeping a level head and de-escalating the situation before coming to a solution is the key in making sure both players understand and accept the choices and their consequences. Many sits are truly a learning experience, and with a server as large as this there are bound to be new players that genuinely don't know or understand all the rules and I realize that Staff is there for these new players too, so that we can invest in and foster a community of accountability for both new players and old. Why should you choose me though? I feel that with the recent resignations, and after being ingame for long enough, that there are several times where staff are completely overwhelmed. Who can blame them if there's 1-2 Staff online with 60-100 players? I can keep a level head in a stressful situation, as it's a skill I've had to learn for my career and my life. I know that a fun server and a fairly moderated/administrated community is one that people prefer to return to and that's why I'd like to be a part of the staff team. In addition, I'm already finding myself helping new players in OOC when they ask questions, and already have the top 3 FAQ bound (How to make money/XP, how to make keypads work, how to access main settings) so I can quickly and easily help those who need it as these are common subjects. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details: In-game warn as mentioned above on the DarkRP#1. I meant to hit a printer that was being stolen from me and a player body blocking it got shot instead, and I suffered the punishment and learned from it. Have you made any previous applications, If so when?: No How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Enough time to meet sit quota. I work a fulltime job as a SaaS Administrator but I have plenty of time to dedicate to videogames, hobbies, and the things that I deem important. This is one of those important hobbies that happens to be a videogame, so I can consider myself as having the dedication required and/or expected. But if you want a real number: I can dedicate a minimum of 20 in-game hours a week for the forseeable future. The forseeable future is the rest of my life, but I'm not a clairvoyant. I do however not believe anything will come between my responsibilities and my life. If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod? Like I said above, I'm a SaaS Administrator (Salesforce and other softwares specifically). I have a Computer Science Degree (A.A.), several Networking Certifications (CCNA 1+2) and have over 5 years in the technology industry. I've owned and operated Source servers for over a decade, mostly Team Fortress 2, and understand various sourcemod menus, as well as having had to custom-tweak a few with Perl. I am an amateur guitar player, I enjoy audio and music in general, and I have a deep interest for any fun game with a gun (Overwatch, Garrysmod, Team Fortress 2, CSGO, CSS, Valorant, DOOM classic and new, etc.) Did you read the staff rules?: ShankNinja

I'm not saying it's absolutely necessary, just that I personally would play it more. Garnet doing anything MC related I will try however. That being said you're right; however in my experience setting up factions servers can be done in a matter of an hour or two depending on how anal you wish to be with configuration. On the same server though? I've never ran a multi-gamemode server like Hypixel so I imagine it's more involved.
-
Agreed. If there was a Survival/Factions/Towny server it'd probably take up a ton of my free time.
-
I tend to play mostly Factions servers but if Garnet hosted an MC server at all I would play it. I think Minecraft is a huge opening.

I'm going to have to -1 because not only have you admitted that you've ignored 10% of the rules, you didn't apply in the correct format and seemed to have missed some of the Staff Rules. You entirely missed the "Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs]" part of the app. I think if you put a little more time, thought, and study a little bit more of the rules you'll have a better chance when you reapply.

I'll +1, although it doesn't affect me much personally, just about the ENTIRE OOC was complaining about it this day. This particular player which I believe has yet to be named, was begging for an admin to forcejob him to Rapist because he didn't have VIP. Meaning: 1. Players cannot pay him to stop 2. An admin would have to abuse or negotiate with a griefer to stop it 3. He was trying to access VIP privileges without paying for it, which if had happened would cause others to do the same thing. When the entire OOC chat is trying to get you to stop (at least 20 people complaining over the course of an hour), admins/manager trying to get you to stop, and you still continue it then this is a whole other issue honestly. While it's neither here-nor-there whether the new rule is necessary to be stated in the MOTD, we have a lot of players that will do something like this just because it isn't written expressly in the rules that they can't do it. This is the unfortunate circumstance we will likely find ourselves in if this isn't nipped in the bud. The rules Proggy mentioned, along with an admin decision being final, was enough to stop this one situation from occuring. HOWEVER: If Proggy wasn't on and no other staff was willing to quote rules that don't explicitly state anything about crowbars (even though they're valid), this could've gone on for hours. I think simply adding it in and being able to give a warn based on that, or clarifying the griefing/spamming rules to include smacking a crowbar on metal, would solve a lot of issues. To all who said they haven't experienced this yet: When an entire server population is complaining about something so easy to do, we will see an uptick in minges/spammers doing the same thing if it's deemed acceptable and/or not consistently punished.
