Reserves Post to End All Reserves Posts

Preamble: It’s been stated that reserves do exist outside of medical emergencies. This will serve to solidify our reserve policy once and for all. I’ll cite/credit people when their ideas are mentioned or served as inspiration.

Description:

The Now:

You do not have reserves. I do not have reserves. No one at this point in time, outside of people already granted the medical emergency exception, has reserves. While this post is in favor of bringing back additional ways of attaining reserves, I am saying all past reserves are wiped.

The Immediate Future:

You may however, appeal for immediate reserves if you were a previous faction leader or 2nd IC. Your appeal will be heard by the entire (if there are additional managers / a future SA) executive team as well as the current faction leader of the faction you’re applying for. Your appeal is simple, answer “Why do you deserve reserves? How are you going to continue your positive work in the faction?” The panel will then discuss whether to accept or deny. Things of importance are: tenure, influence on the faction, influence on the server, serving as a role model, and creating positive change are a few examples. Any approval must be unanimous.

Future Rules:

- In order to request a reserve rank, you must be the faction leader or 2nd IC and shown the aforementioned qualities (idea championed by @Alex Conway and agreed on by many).

- If your appeal is denied you may never request reserves for that faction again, or until you rejoin the faction, once again making it to 2IC or faction head. 

- For those looking to make immediate requests, you may only choose ONE faction to apply for. Should it be denied, you may not make another.

- Players are limited to have reserves for only  ONE faction (Universally agreed on).

- Breaking server rules while on reserves may result in the removal of your reserves. Subject to severity of rule broken.

- All reserves will be O-1, with normal O-1 permissions. ( @JimTrash‘s past structure)

- Coming off reserves sets you to the lowest enlisted rank for SOC factions and E-6 for base factions. (Also Jim’s past structure except I propose that you start at E-6 for base factions).

 

Reasoning: Earning reserves was a milestone that many players shot for in the Garnet Gaming of old. The issue? The bar for reserves was set incredible low, often times just staying in the faction for a few weeks could earn you a rank. The feeling of earning a permanent (barring poor behavior) rank among your faction is attractive and makes players more sticky. It’s our servers way of enshrining players in a “Hall of Fame”. That shit sounds corny af and it is, but it’s also the truth. You’ll see faction loyalty increase, in turn creating better officers and more determined enlisted.

I, just like a handful of people, am tired of people saying they “earned” their reserves by just being in the faction, changing some ranks, making docs, and other useless bullshit. They don’t deserve reserves now and didn’t then. However that’s not a reason to withhold the opportunity for those who truly bust their ass for their faction. I’m hoping that this end all suggestion can be a happy compromise for those wanting reserves to return and those weary about the abuse of reserves.

Your suggestion has been Accepted.

Only applies to present and future leaders, so 7/19/2020 onwards. Any current leader that attempts to gain reserves within a short amount of time of this change, will most likely not receive reserves.

I will make a section on the additional rules showing all the aspects in the morning (currently 1:40 AM)
