You shouldn't have tried arguing your point on the expose thread, and you shouldn't have made another thread with such a defensive tone on top of that. The apology should have been your first and only response accompanied by distancing yourself from chief/panini, and immediately dissavowing his actions. Not to say you are to blame for Panini being a garbage husk of a person, but in defending yourself in the tone that you did initially, on top of the shit that came to light in that thread only made it look more like you were defending a pedophile.
