Greetings Garnet Gaming players,
The reason I am creating this tutorial is that I have found that many players, old and new, that have had trouble figuring out how to set up binds. Hopefully, the steps below will be thorough enough to walk you through, however, if you are still having trouble feel free to PM me on forums, or over steam!
This short tutorial will walk any player, regardless of experience or playtime, on how to properly set up and use binds, from start to finish, for in-game use. (Please note that binds are game-wide, and can be used in any single-player and/or multiplayer server!)
How-To : Set Up Basic Binds
Step 1: Enabling Developer Console
The developer console is a very useful tool for just about everyone. You can use it for tasks ranging from connecting directly to a server via an IP Address, to have toggle control over movement and any keyboard controls, to what we are using it for right now, creating binds!
The first step to enabling the developer console is to navigate to your options settings. (If you are in-game on Garnet Gaming DarkRP, you may need to exit to the main menu before being able to enable the console, this is because of the custom menu.)
Next, just check the Developer Console option within the advanced menu.
Your done setting it up!
Step 2: Finding a bind layout for your specific keyboard controls (optional)
Plan out and choose which buttons to assign to binds (keep in mind, if you are creating a base and want fading doors, you may want to keep space for them.)
Step 3: Creating and testing your first bind
Finally, let's get to actually getting the bind bound, and testing it!
The general layout of a bind is as follows:
bind key "command"
Let's try a 'test advert' using a bind.
Next, we can press whatever button was assigned to that command in-game to test it!
It's as simple as that!
Step 4: Personalize it/Make it your own!
Now go play around and set up your own binds for your own needs! Below are a couple common commands:
"say /quickwant",
"say /advert Raid!",
"say /advert Mug! Drop $5000 in 10 seconds or die!"
It's as easy as that! You now have the knowledge to increase your speed in roleplaying situations, or just to have some fun!
Remember, all commands after 'say' are as if you were regularly typing in chat!
