I don't think you've put any effort into making this application and there are some red flags in my opinion.
1 hour ago, ssww said:Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs]:Because i can follow the rules and help others in need, I can answer reports quickly and resolve them peacefully, I am kind sometimes but also mean, and that is pretty much it.
I used to troll when i was a low level but then stopped, another reason why you should should choose me is because I am overall a chill person and a bit funny, I never put out a negative energy or yell at others.
In this question, it asks for at least two paragraphs as a minimum in order to demonstrate qualities that would make you a good moderator on this server, and you've literally given two sentences with part of one sentence made up of "I used to troll when I was a low level" and part of another "I am kind sometimes but also mean". This needs significant improvement at best, but serves as a red-flag for me. This is your opportunity to show us why you're someone we would want on the team over other potential applicants.
1 hour ago, ssww said:Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details: I have been banned on Garnet Gaming for MRDM 1 year ago.
The ban was 6 months ago and Mass RDM is another big red flag for me. I understand that new players don't understand some of the rules when they first start out, but Mass RDM is a deliberate and repeated action. I'd want to understand exactly what happened and how you've matured / changed your ways. Remember that staff members are role models within the community and set an example for others to follow.
1 hour ago, ssww said:Did you read the staff rules?: I have read the staff rules.
You haven't read the staff rules.

For those who are yet to try this out, you can make some serious money with an optimal circuit! Thanks to @stretchy for showing me his version, I’ll be working on refining my own
And thank you @Proggy for adding a great incentive to make good money in RP. Rags to riches, hobo be driving a German whip

Card games

Neutral
I don’t mind the idea and I enjoy card games myself, so while the idea is generally good, I just can’t see people using it enough to warrant the additional download as DarkRP is meant to be a no download server (or at least minimal download for the small collection of addons that exist currently). However if it was only a small file then it may work out.

You’ve left out some important information which includes that of your previous offences. Having checked your record, you where banned 3 times in total, twice were this year for disrupting an event and exceeding the warn limit, the most recent of which is today!
I don’t feel it necessary to critique your application any further as this alone is enough for my -1. Outside of applying for staff, I think it would be a good idea to work on improving your behaviour in game,

While I think that you seem like a decent guy from what you’ve said, and you’ve got some good hours on the server, I was intrigued to understand why you were banned, as what you’ve said isn’t something I would necessarily ban someone for. After looking into it, I’ve realised this was literally a few days ago for mass FailRP. I think it would be a good idea to gain a better understanding of the rules and give it a bit of time before applying for staff on the server, as this alone is my reason for giving you a -1. Remember that staff members should be role models within the community and lead by example.
Edit:
Permanent -1 after your edit, you could have just given it some time before reapplying and said you’d made some beginner mistakes. But you’ve shown your true colours now.

As it goes. For anything new it will have it's ups and downs as the server newness dies down and goes back up, with seasonal player count dropping and picking back up. Again it's great that people have a difference of opinion and it's good to voice everything out so it can all be talked about. The support of the server is what the main focus is on weather you hate or dislike it or somewhat like it and nothing happens in a blink of an eye, things take time and will only increase in activity if the community follows sed activities. Even if it's a small peace. I wouldn't want something fun to begone and I think it's great to have both of then to switch back and forth too-and-from as people please and whatever they prefer to play at the time. It's a great thing to have more then just 1 server to play as everything dies out eventually. If garnet dose choose to take this down it would be sad. " CityRp is built it die" I don't think is true everything needs a chance and when City started years ago it didn't get that full chance.
I absolutely agree with all of the points Knoxx makes here, everything does have it's ups and downs and I think it's fair to allow it plenty of time to normalise and develop for sure. I also agree that it's good to chat about these kind of things as there's some really good points made here. Having more than one server to play on is awesome and it's nice to have this opportunity at least, so I completely agree. It would be sad to see the server go.
2 hours ago, Adric said:this describes two types of players and after knoxx's reply i believe they both play important roles but ultimately its up to those who want to help AND fit those criteria. for those of us who do like to socialize and be welcomers into our community we should base closer in downtown as you said. we should be in every event we want to play in. we should help players and introduce them to people that fit their playstyle. i felt like i put blame to those who just wanted to play the game as its meta. i now think those that grind play a huge part in the overall investment of this server and having them play and be able to settle in with no expectation or pressure is exactly how we should treat those people. its a symbiotic relationship that we need. we as the RPers will do what we do and just have as much fun as we can being stupid in the streets.
And following on from what Knoxx said, I agree with Adric that there is certainly many types of players and they all play an important role. I think that perhaps I could have explained my point a little better. It's not that I'm against any kind of role at all, it's that right now we need to do absolutely everything we can in order to boost the retention of new players, and the many points I made were surrounding exactly that. As a new player joining the game, they might see 70 people online but nobody in sight. There's nothing wrong with farming and I will absolutely be farming myself as that's actually what I love to do, I've spent many hours basing with Knoxx in fact on DarkRP and it's always been awesome. The point I'm making has to be seen through the eyes of the new player, not our eyes, and that's when they join this new server and see nobody, they log off and go try a different one. By all means farm, but be close to spawn or make the place feel alive. Make it so new players join and see cars and bases, so they want to stay and explore. In the eyes of a new player, population attracts them to connect but doesn't keep playing them without stimulus. I'm looking through their eyes and regardless of my own feelings, this is just what new players do.
8 hours ago, Fetn said:my opinion is to just make DRP into cityrp keep the donors but add content cause vanilla gets.. frankly boring...
Just want to point out though that the whole reason I like Garnet DarkRP is because it's vanilla. If it changed to have loads of crazy addons, I'd go find a server that didn't. DarkRP should stay as vanilla as possible in my eyes.
4 hours ago, Jaz- said:There needs to be a good job for making money while involving in rp, and it needs to do something different from dark rp.
I like this point, this would be a great opportunity to really boost some of the job roles to encourage RP and have a bustling city as you'd expect.

I think that there are some good points that have been mentioned, but I'd like to give my input:
RP isn't always about making money, in fact one of my favourite RP jobs is being a gun dealer as it's been a staple of DarkRP for many years. I generally make no profit after giving out some extra ammo here and there, give away a free pistol to a new players, and reimburse customers for weapons that were stolen by the person behind them in the queue. Granted I don't have to do those extra things, but even still the profit margin is limited and I never play to make big bucks in this role.
Chicken vs egg / community vs RP. The reason a lot of new servers fail is because they lack the community to support a good RP environment (which we luckily already have here!) and that's a reason that it could work here at Garnet. However if the numbers dwindle, you'll find that new players won't want to join a quiet server and those who do won't be interested in RP. With that in mind, it's necessary for everyone to do their part to boost the server as much as possible and play in an RP way to promote others to do the same.
Vast spaces that CityRP allows for are truly awesome to see, however when the playerbase is so spread out, even a high population doesn't seem that of say the DarkRP server where many players tend to congregate in the high-street. For this reason, new players joining the server don't actually feel as though they are in a bustling city, but rather in a ghost town. Maybe it's best therefore to try and stay closer to spawn, just as people tend to in DarkRP?
Hold off farming for now - this is going to be slightly controversial so I'll do my best to elaborate. I agree that farming is a good way of making a lot of money (and as a DarkRP farmer myself) I don't see anything wrong with chilling in a base with a few friends, adding to the server pop and allowing for better cars or weapons to be bought. I love all of that. However... with the server having just launched and with the points I have mentioned above in mind, this isn't a good time to farm. Right now we need to be pushing a group effort to welcome new players, participate in some actual RP, and generally have a good time. Only once a stable community is in place should we think about farming, because as it stands there's a good chance our millions will disappear with the server if we don't. I have instead opted to try and strike it big in the casino (I won't lmao) but that way I can at least mingle with the new guys here and have a laugh.
Updates - I think that other than some minor tweaks here and there, we have plenty to do in the new server! We should make the most of what we have because in DarkRP we have far less and the pop over there has been good. I've had a great laugh driving around, playing in the casino, putting out a couple of fires, and generally having a laugh with people. If the server is successful, only then is it really worth making some suggestions. I have a few in mind, but I'm holding off as I don't think it's worth Garnet and the team pouring tons of hours into an idea, just to see the population decrease. I honestly don't think that the server pop is related to updates, providing that the current assets are all functioning correctly.

Vehicle Retrieving
Due to ongoing complaints of stolen cars, and even my very own annoyance with losing my vehicles constantly, I have made an addition to the dealership which will de-spawn your car after a period of 3-5 minutes if it is lost. Allowing you to be able to re-obtain your car without the need to reconnect to the server
The vehicle retrieving system works really well, I remember you telling me about it in-game and it was an absolute god send! Especially with the number of times I lost my car haha

Fixed an issue where players can physgun keypads and buttons attached to cars
I'm glad that this has been added! I can't see any decent reason to pick up a car and propminge with it, so it will save the staff team a lot of issues, allowing them to focus on positive things as I belive this has been quite commonplace.
CityRP is such a good laugh, I've really enjoyed playing on there. Hopefully the pop is maintained especially through the summer when it should be naturally higher. Personally I need to increase my staffing on DarkRP as I've been playing on CityRP a fair amount this week but as xFish said, always trying to support this awesome server through donations and otherwise. I'll look into doing another giveaway of sorts as that was a really good laugh last time

Just out of interest, I read StraightWhiteChristianMale's response and then saw you changed the title and I'm confused... was this a different suggestion previously about maps or something? Anyway....
I remember many years ago I did exactly this but just for my own benefit as driving in GMod is notoriously bad, so I tweaked a lot of the values until I was happy with the handling. With that said, I remember it taking me a really long time and through it by trial and error, I eventually got there, so as long as Garnet's happy to spend that amount of time tweaking it then it's certainly possible for sure and I could get behind the idea. Maybe make low-end cars a little slower too as they are all super fast lol.

I love the idea of the mechanic where eating it might give you health, but may also just give you food poisoning haha! It could work as a poor-mans version of perks given that it’s a gamble on if it would actually help, while also creating new job roles for players to fill which would be awesome
I would say have it be a 50/50 chance of gaining 50% health or giving you ‘food poisoning’ where you loose health in a similar way to the covid spreader. Have it’s price-point very low, to allow players to add a reasonable mark-up to profit from it while making it cheap enough for new players to want to buy and risk the gamble.

Adric has always been the essence of community spirit. The first time I met him, he was playing his Ukulele on the DarkRP server and performing for the enjoyment of all, bringing together old and new players alike for a boogie in the streets. He's of great character and I've never known him to get into any kind of trouble, instead he does his best to help other players and make the server a place that people would want to spend their time with a focus on events and otherwise engaging with people in a bright and meaningful way. He's the kind of staff member that will play a big role in maintaining the CityRP population as time goes on through his creative ideas and determination to ensure the server is free from those who wish to ruin other peoples fun. Having past experience staffing on DarkRP, he's a fantastic candidate to join the team and I really hope you make it
I wish you the best of luck!

WreckEM is one of the most respectful and trustworthy players that I know since I've joined Garnet, with a maturity that he's built since the ice age (he's a bit older than me in fact!). He's the kind of person who will always listen to others, keeping their words private and forming his own judgement without any kind of bias. He's always having a great laugh with other people on the server and has a naturally positive aura about him, but he's able to quickly adapt to a serious and sensitive approach, like for example if he were to take a report, which is a great quality to have. He's online during some of the peak times and at night when there's less staff members online, and as an ex-staff member, he's a great candidate to help make the CityRP server successful by ensuring that good players are well looked after. I think he'd do a brilliant job if he gets onto the team, so I wish you the best of luck!

Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs]
I'd like to briefly introduce myself to those who I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet (there's a lot of new faces on this server which is awesome to see!). My name's Chris and I'm a 28 year old guy from the South-Coast of England. I've been playing DarkRP since it was released a long time ago, and I've seen it evolve over the years to what we all know and love today, including variants such as CityRP! I was drawn to the vanilla style of the Garnet DarkRP server initially as it's the closest thing to the servers that I used to play on when I was a teenager, and I have been playing on the Garnet server for nearly 2 years with most of my activity in the last year or so. Having spent time in the CityRP server since it's beta release, I've really enjoyed some of the additional content that it includes and I'm excited to see the server grow and flourish for the foreseeable future, and I'd love to be a part of helping it succeed. If I'm accepted into the staff team, I'd be duel-staffing across both the DarkRP and CityRP servers and I plan to actively staff on both with no intention of giving up my previous rank on DarkRP, just in case you might be wondering. I feel that given my age and personality, I'm sensible and mature which I believe is a key quality of a staff member. I'd also like to point out that living in a different time zone (the UK) allows me to be active at times when a lot of other staff aren't available, which can help maintain the number of active staff online. I work full time as an electrician, so I'll be available in the evenings during the week and all weekend.I've always strived to be of good character, with no warns or bans on my record on any server, and the only times that I can ever remember being reported was during my initial hours on Garnet server and having the wrong number of fading doors on my base, silly beginner mistakes which were promptly corrected. I personally believe that all staff members should be absolute role-models to other players and set an example for all to see. I've always been respectful and approachable, and try my best to share that mindset with others so that we can have a fantastic community that people enjoy being on.
With that in mind, I get on really well with the Garnet community and talk everyday with many good friends I have met here, having had the chance to get to know a lot of the members during my time playing on the servers. I was always so surprised and delighted to have been welcomed with open-arms to the community when I first joined, and now I try my best to return that favour to new members that I come to meet by helping them build their bases and giving out with some basic weapons and a bit of extra starting cash, something I will continue to do and which I encourage others to do as well if they're able to. I'm well trusted in the community as I have always honoured my word, whether that be buying bulk printers in-game, trading high-value collectable items, lending large amounts of in-game money, or doing giveaways (which I would like to do again soon!). I believe it's important to get on well with the community and be trusted by the player base as a staff member as these are great qualities to have.
As I've mentioned, I'm currently a T.Admin on the DarkRP server having worked my way through the ranks to where I am now. In that time, I have trained 5 new staff members and never had a single appeal for any punishment I've given, with a staff of the month award given for April. I was also privileged to have been given the HR and GM ranks early, with my first training conducted while I was a moderator. I always strive to go the extra mile in every task I handle, whether that be to properly explain a punishment during a sit, going over additional points during a staff training, or helping out with an event; I'm continually learning and evolving to try and become the best staff member I can be. Of course I have a lot of experience which I feel is relevant to CityRP, and I'm aware that the subtle differences between CityRP and DarkRP are my focus points that I'll need to keep in mind, for my own continued development. I take a lot of pride in ensuring all my sits are recorded and I keep 2 months of well-organised records to make sure I can be efficient in responding to any future appeals. I don't get affected by bias, which is something I have seen other staff members occasionally struggle with, I've always remained firm but fair, and I believe that anyone is capable of changing given enough time and the right environment to do so, but with justifiable punishments given to encourage such change. I won't tolerate toxicity, but I'll always be there to help that same person improve.
Lastly I feel it's important to mention that I'm incredibly active within the community, with 882 hours in-game on DarkRP. I'm always posting far too much on the forums, in fact I'm 3rd behind Garnet and Proggy for the month at the moment according to the leader boards. That's not to mention my activity in Discord and TeamSpeak, both on Garnet servers and other sub-communities, I'll always be somewhere chatting with people I've met here. I always do my best to participate in community events such as the screen-art competition (which you can take a look by loading into DarkRP), the duel-arena competition (which I'm really hoping to win but waiting for an announcement) and even hosting my own VIP giveaway. I love this community and I take part in everything I can!
I think I'll cut it off here, but I'm excited to be a part of the new CityRP server and I look forward to hopefully joining the rest of the team
Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, include details: Never had any warns or bans, only silly beginner mistakes when I first joined (like the number of fading doors allowed).
Have you made any previous applications, if so when? None for CityRP
How much time do you have to contribute to the role? I'd be sharing my time between DarkRP and CityRP (duel-staffing) so 3-4 hours a day, but alternating days between servers. And then all weekend.
If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod? I enjoy tinkering with electronics, in fact the Wire Mod (on GMod) was what initially inspired me as a teenager and helped shape my career! I also until recently had a motorbike which I used to take out quite often for a ride. I've just started playing Magic The Gathering too after a friend invited me to join them one Friday, so I'll see how that turns out. I enjoy exploring a lot of things and I'm always open to new ideas to be honest.
Did you read the staff rules?: ChrisRid-

Hi there Baller,
I wouldn't normally respond for bans I have put through on behalf of other staff members but I'm doing so as not only have you DM'd me with a link to this, but also I was tagged by an ex-staff member in the offence-links section of our discord, so I'm just making sure this can get settled by the correct parties involved.
Just to avoid any further confusion, the staff member who requested this ban is @Tax_Collector and their name is added to the end of the 'reason' as you can see in the image below. I put this ban through on their behalf after they requested it through the staff chat in-game, as they aren't able to ban at their current rank. Just for future reference, you are able to check the details of any ban by searching Steam ID's at the following link, just in case you ever need to check in the future https://garnetgaming.net/darkrp/bans/
I have tagged Tax Collector here and in the GG Staff Discord, so they will respond to this appeal as soon as they are free. I hope this helps

I do like the idea, but unfortunately I just can't see anyone following the orders and/or the police chief might make people do silly things. I think it would be much better idea to get a good group of mates to all be police at once to achieve the same result, and I think it would be more fun that way. I personally think anything more serious in terms of roleplay, is better suited to PoliceRP than DarkRP.

While I do totally understand and I've seen players leave after reporting MRDM when they were blown up in this sort of raid, I think GunShark made a pretty good point on this.
Other than that, there are good reasons to allow firing off rockets straight away, for example in a legitimate raid a great tactic is to catch the baser off guard by knocking on the door, waiting a few seconds, and then hitting the front entrance with a rocket or two in order to take out the baser which will allow the raider to move through the entrance and crack the keypads. I get this is a more advanced raiding tactic, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Advanced basers can still protect themselves from such an attack anyway if they know how. I very rarely (if ever) raid myself, but I do actually appreciate a good team of raiders who come up with cool tactics like this and I wouldn't want to take it away from them.
So unfortunately I'm going with a -1 on this, but I do see your reasoning behind your suggestion for sure.

Because the credits are given for time spent in-game, I can't see the need for an additional cooldown timer to purchase payroll. Although I do understand that there might be people with lots of credits who would have to purchase payroll 10,000 times to use them up, so maybe introduce an option to buy multiples of payroll (e.g purchasing 10x payroll) to avoid spamming the chat if this was to happen

People wouldn’t go out of their way to ruin someone’s staff app just for their personal enjoyment unless they are just flat out dicks.
Precisely. This is the biggest problem with applications, very often the response people give doesn’t address their suitability as a staff member but rather just serves as a chance for them to publicly rant about whatever personal disagreements they have had in the past, tarnishing their application as a result.
In fact some people are loved by the community for just being a good laugh, when in actual fact, they may not be the best candidate for the staff team. Similarly, some people aren’t liked much for various personal reasons, but are actually a good candidate and get overlooked.

There have been some fantastic staff members who have bought VIP mod and done a superb job helping the server while also offering a financial contribution in support which we should be thankful for. There have also been some terrible staff who applied through the forums and have been toxic ever since. What I’m saying is the quality of a moderator isn’t directly related to how they joined the team.
At the end of the day, if someone buys VIP Mod for $50 for the sake of 10 minutes of fun minging on the server, then they will simply have their rank removed and be blacklisted, while the server might get some nice upgrades with the money. I have personally had to ban someone who did exactly this until their rank could be removed.
I think it also offers those who have been victims of bullying a chance to get onto the staff team. Just one group of toxic friends can tarnish their application and deny them that opportunity as we’ve seen recently, and therefore feedback on an application doesn’t necessarily prove whether someone is a good fit for the team in these kind of scenarios.

DarkRP Staff Roster | Month of June, 2022

Congratulations to all those who have worked hard and strived to be their best over the last month to make this server awesome
Well done to our MVP’s DonBlotto, Bluey, and Moe who’ve done a crazy number of sits this month! You guys should be proud as that’s a superb achievement!
Shoutout to Jacobs and Bob the Builder who I’ve trained this month having joined the team, it’s fantastic to see you’ve both got promotions already, awesome job guys!
Here’s to another month
