Well sir it is just a staff application, and if he doesn’t think that todd is ready that is his opinion. Applications are opinion based he doesn’t need to prove anything.
I think it’s always important to be constructive when giving any criticism, otherwise how can you expect someone to understand what they need to do in order to improve? Sure it’s opinion based, and nobody’s opinion is necessarily wrong, but without any reasoning it doesn’t really mean anything, and just sounds like “I don’t like you” but for all we know that’s because Toddd supports a different football team.
4 hours ago, WreckEMsaints said:some explanation would help, just saying not going to give a runaround doesnt give any context
So with that said, I totally agree with WreckEm. It would certainly help Toddd know what to work on and give some context, especially with the recent toxicity that’s been directed towards him without reason.

While the bitcoin miners might be pretty cool, the reason for my -1 is to keep the vanilla aspect of the server and reduce the download which is one of main reasons I liked Garnet DarkRP over other servers. Perhaps if CityRP came back, this could be something interesting to try out there and I'd be happy to give it a go for sure.
17 hours ago, Jaz- said:all people do is sit in their base and farm.
I can't see any issue if people just want to enjoy printer-farming with their friends? In fact the baser / raider aspect of DarkRP is one of the oldest concepts of the game mode. I'm personally not a fan of raiding myself, but I still see why others enjoy it. That's the beauty of DarkRP, there's something for everyone; that includes chilling with a few friends while farming printers and listening to music.
17 hours ago, lmay said:Economy is already broken due to people with alts
I made millions without the use of alts by simply buying printers off other people and manufacturing meth. In fact I would often check the TAB menu and I was usually in the top 5 richest online, all without the use of any alts. It's only in recent times I use alts when the server pop is low and I fancy farming, so in that sense I'm living proof you don't need alts to still become incredibly wealthy relative to others in-game. It's just whether you want to spend the time and effort getting to that point, just as I and many others have done?

So this has been a difficult one for me, and I wasn’t sure whether to go for +1 or stay at neutral for now.
The thing is, I genuinely think you’d be a great staff member, just as you were previously last time you were staff. All my interactions with you have been great, and there are a good amount of people who’ve said the same. I think you are helpful and kind, incredibly active and very knowledgable, holding a previous executive position within the staff team.
The reason I’ve been indecisive about giving a straight-up +1 is because of you’re current reputation within the community. I feel it’s important to be respected by the community if you’re re-joining the staff team and that it’s something you need to properly address, which will unfortunately take time to rebuild. But I’m very confident you can make it happen.
I’d like to mention that Fetn is absolutely correct in what he’s said about you being a victim of toxicity yourself, and I have made it explicitly clear how unfair and contradictory those people are, and I will continue to call those people out for their actions. Anyone who is bullied will eventually lash out, and I feel a lot of the things you are accused of recently are a direct result of the angry mob’s enticement. You’re showing a strength of character in continuing to improve and stay within the community which I have a lot of respect for.
And I agree with Shin that I too am rooting for you and it’s always cool to chat and have a laugh. I’ve got absolute faith in you and I think you’d do an incredible job. But it may take time to rebuild certain relationships and that’s something only you’ll be able to do. I know you’ve made a superb effort to do this already, but it may just take a little bit of time as I’ve said before.
If I had to give a clear response then it would be a +1 knowing that you’ll be there in time anyway

Legally the TEC-9 would be a pistol
7 hours ago, ShankNinja said:Tec-9 is a pistol
I decided to do a little bit of research about whether the TEC-9 is a pistol or a SMG and I'm going to change my response to neutral, but hear me out on a couple of things:
So just to mention, legal classification isn't really applicable here because that all depends on where you live as to how something is classified, and for example pepper spray is classified in the UK as a firearm, so you can see how the IRL legal classification argument is kind of invalid. To add to that, fun-clip's to convert Glocks to fire full-auto are mostly illegal without additional licences from what I can see so that doesn't really apply either. Similarly the classification a manufacturer gives something isn't really applicable because they want to sell to the widest market and will adapt their product to suit, for example pistols are banned even with a firearms licence in the UK so manufacturers just extended the barrel and throw on a stock to make it into a rifle, so that's also kind of irrelevant.
What I've come to learn is that it's commonly accepted that a SMG is an automatic pistol with a stock. That means that a TEC-9 with a stock is an SMG, and without a stock it's a pistol. This means that the classification would depend on the model and firing position of the weapon and (I haven't actually checked but) I assume the model is without the stock and therefore a pistol.
The reason I'm changing to neutral and not to a +1 is that I still believe the hobo role is passive and doesn't need additional firepower as I previously mentioned. I can't see a good reason for a hobo to be firing a full-auto weapon, but I'm not totally against it either. If people really like the idea then I don't want to ruin anyone's fun by any means but I'm not an advocate for it either.

Neutral (changed from -1, see my other post for details)
I can’t see why a hobo would have a tec-9 or similar weapon, being as they can’t have a weapon larger than a pistol. The tec-9 is more of an SMG in my eyes, even if it’s stats aren’t as good as other SMG’s. They don’t really have a need for more firepower either seeing as they don’t have a base to defend, can’t raid, and are immune to being mugged, with self-defence being the main reason for owning a pistol. I think the hobo is generally a more passive class and seeing hobos firing off full-auto weapons just seems odd and out of place to me at least.

I’m glad to see you made an application after we spoke in game, and while I don’t know you well enough to give you a referral, you seem a really decent guy in the time that I’ve spent talking with you.
I like that you’ve put a lot of time into explaining quite a number of reasons that you would be a good fit for the team and how you’d be able to help, you’ve mentioned some good qualities about yourself with an emphasis on helping players and giving off good vibes which I feel is important to maintain a friendly and welcoming community for any new players who join the server. Plus you have experience staffing before which is great.
With that said, there’s a couple of points that I’d like to mention. You said you like trolling which is ok if it’s friendly and between you and a couple of mates, but just make sure it doesn’t spread into your interactions with others you don’t know well as you’ll be representing the staff team if your application was accepted. I know you have also mentioned you have a couple of bans in the past which were both quite a long time ago. The mass NLR is very common for new players so I understand that one, and the mass RDM is concerning but as it’s a year ago and you’ve built up a couple of hundred hours, I feel that may have been a learning curve and I’m hoping you’ve matured since then, especially with your experience staffing on other servers.
Overall I think you’ve got a reasonable application, and having spoken with you in game, you seem like a decent person, so I wish you the best of luck

I'm actually going to go against the grain on this one because I think it's actually a decent suggestion. Correct me if I'm wrong but there were some massive hardware updates to the server not so long ago which have allowed some of the awesome updates that we have seen recently (like the duel system, tax system, lottery animation, building in PD, etc) alongside reaching improved FPS, so in that sense it certainly seems feasible. As you say though, it would need to be a one-time purchase (like VIP) to avoid people trying to stack it to increase their prop-limit any further. I'm aware that the prop limit changes with population, as others have suggested you can build at low-pop / high-prop periods and your build will remain which is all well and good, but for the few that perhaps can only join during peak times, an additional 5 or 10 props does make a big difference and support the server through donations at the same time, which directly supports hardware upgrades. I like the idea

I never had the pleasure of playing on CityRP bu I have heard a lot of good things about it from all of those who have and it would be awesome to see what it’s like.
My only concern is of course the server pop. If the DarkRP server was at a point where the pop was consistently high most of the time, then it would be worth giving it a shot for sure, but recently the DarkRP server pop has been low and I think CityRP would only serve to split the numbers again meaning both servers would be very low. I just wouldn’t want to see the DarkRP pop drop any further than it already has.
With that said, if DarkRP’s pop was good then I’d be absolutely all for it and I’d be happy to invest some of my time to help out where I can and generally have fun. I think the idea in general is really good but it’s just figuring out how to get to that position on where it would have a decent launch and continue to fly.
Edit:
I just want to quickly add that I would imagine Garnet and Proggy would want to ensure the server would have some financial stability and wouldn’t suffer large losses if it were to launch as there will be a good period of time where the playerbase will need to develop. So perhaps it’s a good idea to show some support in that sense too. I’ll be happy to donate by purchasing at least 100 credits if it launches in support of this, to do my small part at least in order to give it every chance of success if it went ahead. If everyone did the same, it would give a big boost to the idea perhaps?

-1 (with a side note)
I think the hobo intentionally serves as a job which is removed from basing / raiding, the idea being that you can make a cool hut in public with a donation box, and otherwise go around begging or otherwise having a laugh. If hobos had keypads / fading doors etc, then there would need to be a reason for them to hang around to protect their base. And for it to be worthwhile protecting, there would need to be something more than just drugs or guns inside (as these can just be stored in your inventory anyway) but having printers or anything else would contradict the hobos role and just serve to become another variation of a citizen.
The only thing that might change my mind is for example the wishing-well that you made the other day which was actually really awesome! And with this example, there of course needs to be a way to access the money dropped inside of it, and in order to make it fall inline with the rules, a button or keypad would need to activate the door. So this is what I would focus on if there was a reason to introduce the mechanic to the hobo, but I'm unsure of exactly how this could work out on a broader scale.

Fantastic application! I love everything you've said about why you'd like to return to the staff team, especially as an OG player, I'm sure it would be great to have you back! On top of that you have great hours, you help new players, you have some fantastic referrals from other staff members; I could go on but I don't think I need to say much more than I wish you the best of luck!

5 hours ago, tboygamer123 said:Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: [YES/NO]no
In order to be as efficient as possible while handling reports and to ensure you have the attention of others, I would strongly recommend getting a microphone. On top of that, TeamSpeak activity is a requirement if you wish to seek promotions and climb the ranks.
5 hours ago, tboygamer123 said:Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] the reason you should choose me over other aplicants is because im very patient with people and can help them with things they need and to solve and dont hold grudges agains anyone and dont discriminate if they are my friend or i know them im really nice and can explain things very well in a sit to a person or staff.
The reasons that you have given to "Why should we choose you over other applicants?" is ridiculously short and looks as though you haven't put a great deal of effort into it. It actually asks for 2 paragraphs as a minimum to emphasise the fact that this is your opportunity to really stand out amongst the rest. If you have a read through some of the accepted staff applications, you'll see the kind of things others have said and the detail that they've gone into, to really try and set themselves apart. On top of that, I don't generally care about spelling and grammar a whole lot (we all have strengths and weaknesses) but when you're trying to make a good impression in a formal application, it's always worth running your text through a checker of some kind, just to make sure you're application looks the best that it can.
5 hours ago, tboygamer123 said:Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details no
This is an outright lie! You were banned on 22nd July 2021 for Mass Prop-block and LTAP. This data is publicly available here https://garnetgaming.net/darkrp/bans
5 hours ago, tboygamer123 said:How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: soon to be a lot currently playing on my parents laptop will get a pc soon though
You'd need to be a little more specific with how much time you could realistically contribute. If you can't dedicate much time now then you could always reapply when you get your PC. Bare in mind that there is a minimum number of reports every staff member should be taking each month.
5 hours ago, tboygamer123 said:Did you read the staff rules?: yes
No you did not.
To summarise, you have put very little effort into making your application. On top of that, you have lied about your previous punishments and not read the staff rules, amongst a host of other things that I've mentioned. I would suggest taking all of this on board and if (at a later date) you still wish to become a member of the staff team, then at that point make a truly awesome application and show us how great you can be because I think you could achieve a great deal more than this. Until then, it's a strong -1 from me.

Moar Taxes
in Denied
Neutral for now
I do like the idea of the bail money going back into the playerbase to encourage roleplay, and this is genuinely a pretty good idea. My only reason for not giving it a straight up +1 is that there are already three forms of tax and I'm wondering if it might get a little over complicated? Although with that said, I guess if all of the bail money went straight into the vault then there wouldn't be a need for anything to be added to the Mayor's computer screen, which does simplify it. All I'm worried about is new players being discouraged by complex tax systems but as long as it's simple then it is a good idea. I might change to a +1 with more info and discussion though

Awesome updates, I can’t wait to try out the new dual system, and I’m excited to see everyone’s builds too! The extended sit timer is much needed, while most sits take a couple of minutes, uploading clips always takes a while and happens often, which accounts for the majority of active-expired sits, so this is reassuring. And funny enough I did wonder where the totems had gone, I assumed I was just unlucky and never spotted one haha! Glad they are back
The day/night cycle will be cool to see, time for a bit of dodgy dealing on a poorly-lit street
And it’s a shame if the loading screen may be casing low-pop, I personally really liked it but I understand your theory and it’s worth trying to see if it helps for sure, it would be nice to see the pop back up again!
Thank you @Nutter and @Bizzy for your hard work, brilliant updates as always!

Wow! What an awesome month it has been! There has been some fantastic work done by so many people
Well done to both Thomas and BigBurgerTime for getting Staff of the Month, you guys have done a crazy number of sits! Well deserved for sure!
And congratulations FlameSoul and Glorbnob on becoming manager, definitely the right guys for the job, you both set a standard we should all strive to achieve and have helped me many times, much respect to both of you.
Shout out to ImagineBaggins, Merrickk, and The Shizzle who I trained this month and have started their journey in the staff team, work hard, stay focused and you guys can achieve anything you want to!
And lastly I’m going to miss both Shin and AJ having departed from managing the server, I’m proud to have worked with both of you and I’m sure we’ll stay in touch for sure

it's very helpful is logs get reset which they often do
I do agree with this point in fairness, and while the logs have been recently extended and don't reset quite as often as they used to, it can be difficult when they do. I will also add that a clip without a timestamp is often enough in many situations, but with that said I can think of a few examples where it would be helpful.
10 hours ago, IAreGunner said:Relying on Players to record and screenshot isn't something I'm too fond about
I do absolutely agree with this point though, I don't feel that playing on the server should require every player to record their gameplay. Remember that some people have limited storage, and even if they were to stream it to YouTube (or another site) their PC might not be quite as beefy as some of ours.
17 minutes ago, xFish said:I see the benefits to this suggestion, although I do remember a similar one turned down. Perhaps @KoiFish take a look around the workshop and try to find a good one that wont cause us issues. The smaller the addon the better usually.
As xFish said, perhaps find an example and see what the download and features might look like to get a better idea of exactly what impact it might have.
I'm leaning more towards neutral now (being -1 before). The other point I would like to make is that if there was a timestamp, it should really be the same time zone as the logs. Having it the same as your own location will cause more confusion and issues that it's worth when using it as evidence in a sit, and can easily be changed too by simply changing the time on your PC. However if it was set to the time zone of the server then this could confuse and annoy others who will inevitably complain that the time is wrong.

This is a truly fantastic application, one of the best that I have seen! I love everything that you've said about why you would like to become a member of staff on this server, with a genuine care shown for the community and an emphasis on improving and growing as both a team and as an individual. Your previous experience staffing in other communities is noteworthy too and shows that you hold a lot of the key principals needed in order to undertake the duties of a staff member here. On top of that, the situation that you mentioned where you had to call paramedics while using an AED to help someone I think sets you apart in terms of being able to work under stress / pressure and doing the right thing, something that a lot of people can struggle with, and a good quality to have when taking reports on the server. Even what you have said about your programming skills show that you have patience and can learn solve complex problems.
Other than that, you have decent hours playing on the server. You don't have any bans on record (other than one which was appealed and accepted) which show you're of good character. You have the ability to record and use TeamSpeak which is essential. I can't fault anything here and from what I remember you have always been a good laugh in game. Overall I really like everything that you have said and so I wish you the best of luck!

I'm glad that you came back to GMod and found the Garnet server!
In all my experiences you've always been chilled online, I can't remember ever having any issues with you. You have decent hours and a referral from SkillArt which is fantastic! You have no bans on record and so you're of good character. Reading through your application I would like to mention one thing:
21 hours ago, BlottoDaDon said:None of the DarkRP rules have changed since I was younger
Be careful with assuming all the rules are exactly the same as there have been a few small changes in recent times which may catch you out. Don't dwell on it though because at a first glance I'd imagine everything does look identical lol.
But overall I like your application and I feel you could fit in really well with the staff team given everything you have said, and so I wish you the best of luck!

I’m a bit lost for words on this one, I’m not sure whether to laugh or be worried! It’s an entertaining suggestion but I do hope it’s not serious. There is already a pet role which is light-hearted but I don’t think it needs expanding with other fury’s. Besides, it will add to the download and doesn’t fit the idea of a ‘vanilla’ server, amongst other things that have already been said. I’m going to be stuck with the image of a cat farming printers in my head now, and it’s bizarre haha.
-

Not really in-keeping with the ‘vanilla’ approach of the server, so a -1 from me.

I actually used to have an time / date addon installed back in the days when some servers allowed client side scripts, and it was cool but not exactly necessary. The logs have timestamps anyway and it just adds more to the download without adding any real benefit to the average player. But I do get the idea and maybe an overlay could help?

I think this sounds like a pretty cool idea, it would be sweet for hitmen to have a base where they can hang out and chill between hits.

I can get behind this, like you say it gives more competition between hitmen while also meaning the target gets taken out faster so it benefits both sides.

I agree with Shank that there is some filler in your paragraphs, however if I were to ignore that, you’ve still given some good reasons for why you’d like to be on the team. I’m not worried with repetition of words or phrases because at the end of the day it’s not an English exam so as long as you’ve put some effort into spelling and grammar in an attempt to be reasonably presentable then I’m happy.
The points Shank made about being more active and meeting more people aren’t reasons for wanting to become staff, so I totally agree with him. You can achieve both of those things without being staff, and staffing doesn’t have any impact on your RP. But it’s still nice that you’d like to spend more time and meet more people for sure.
Checking your previous offences, you only have the one ban for MassNLR which you’ve mentioned with is common with new players, but nothing else of concern, so I believe you are of a good character.
Like I say, perhaps it’s best to spend some time reading over the rules and make an edit to your post, as I’ll reconsider my response if you do.
Edit:
I changed my application to a +1 as you’ve taken on board the criticism mentioned and have now read the staff rules. You’ve got a clear desire to be a part of the team and help make the server a great place for players to be in the additional paragraph you’ve added, which is awesome to see. I wish you the best of luck!
