  1. -1 Those who've bought these player models are showing how much they support the server. If it they were cheap and easily aquired, it wouldn't mean as much. Lowering the price wouldn't be fair to those who have purchased them previously. If anything I'd expect it to increase with inflation. From what others have said, it seems as though it's not allowed anyway.
  2. Awesome! Great changes here. Loved the events too, and glad it’s working ok now
  3. Description: [description of what you are suggesting, one paragraph minimum] While working as a Meth Manufacturer, often I collect a few hundred-thousand (in meth) at a time before selling it to the Meth NPC. I've noticed that if I'm very close to the next level (in XP) then it doesn't carry over any of the additional XP over-and-above what's required to achieve the next level. I'm suggesting that if possible, the additional XP is carried over. Hypothetical example: If I'm currently level 79 and only 10 XP is required to reach level 80, but selling my meth grants 100 XP, then 90 XP is carried over and added to level 80. Reasoning: [how would this benefit our server?] I think it would benefit the server in a number of ways: - A person's level is more accurate and representative of what they have achieved in game. I've lost XP to this before. - People wouldn't be stuck playing, waiting for something else to level them up in order to sell their meth to avoid loosing XP. - People would feel more encouraged to leave the safety of their base rather than to horde it until the next level. Additional Information: [Photos/Videos][/CODE] Other than uploading a video of myself deliberately loosing XP (which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid) I'm not sure what else to add.
  4. Why does time go so fast in DarkRP? Like I finished work, went online and 5 minutes later it’s midnight!

  5. Looking forward to seeing these updates and new classes… especially the blind guy, that will be a right laugh!
  6. Cheers Tdizz, I remember you posted when I resigned too! Bit emotional Glad to be back though, thank you!
  7. In-game name: ChrisRid Age: 27 SteamID (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:0:43126890 Warns: None Timezone: London (UK) GMT+0 Playtime?: 199.22 hours at the time of posting Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: [YES/NO] Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?:[YES/NO] Yes Referral(s): [What administrator recommended you to apply?] GunShark - We spoke the about a week ago and he said that I should sign up. Cheers GunShark, you're always helpful and supportive Canlex - Trained me previously when I became VIP Mod and has witnessed my sits. I haven't actually asked him, but I'm sure he'll be glad to see me back on the team ShankNinja - We got on really well before I resigned, I even put in a good word for him when he applied to be staff as I knew he'd do a decent job. Again, I haven't actually asked him but I'm sure he'll agree VOID MoonDodge - A fellow Brit, God save the Queen! Again, I haven't asked but we've spoke enough in-game to know what I'm like. Always incredibly helpful too! Past experiences as staff: [Optional] Previously, I became a VIP Mod and really enjoyed my time working as staff on the server, taking great pride in my organisation of evidence collected from sits. I was later promoted to a moderator, however shortly afterwards, I had to resign due to suddenly having to change job and moving back down from London to the South Coast (England) where I live now. I was always firm but fair in my sits and strived to improve peoples understanding and respect of the situation by explaining things thoroughly. In fact, I never had a single appeal submitted against me during my time as staff. You're welcome to see my resignation posted on the forums here where I explain in a bit more depth why I left. Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] Having previously worked as staff on the server, I already know what is expected of me in order to fulfil the duties that I will undertake as a moderator. I have dealt with a variety of sits previously and handled them well, with no appeals and with promotion to moderator from VIP Mod. I always tried to identify the best course of action, for example giving guidance and education to help new players, over warning / jailing players that should understand them. I was firm but fair, always giving every reasonable opportunity to ask questions before any punishment is imposed. I took pride in my organisation of sit videos, in the event that any such appeal may take place so that I could respond quickly and efficiently. I'm also based in South-East England (UK). While I understand that the vast majority of players are US based, it's worthwhile having moderators that are able to cover different time zones. In that way I can help, offering to assist during the peak-UK times while also offering more help outside those hours on weekends and holidays. At the age of 27, I have been playing GMod for over 15 years! That's right, when it was a mod where you had to install other mods manually! It wasn't pain, it was total freedom! Anyway... In that time, I have accumulated an awful lot of experience but I refuse to be complacent and I will always continue to learn more from others. I have realised with wisdom that everyone's view / opinion is valid until it's challenged in a respectful and meaningful way where proper discussion and debates can form. Personally, I'm far from perfect, I still learn new things but I strive to continually adapt and improve as time goes on. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details I think when I first started and didn't understand the rules I was called up a few times, for example the number of fading doors allowed. But I learned from my mistakes in the early hours of the game and stayed with te server based on the fairness of the mods, which is exactly what I hope to achieve. Nothing at all in the last 150 hours though. Have you made any previous applications, If so when?: None at all. As I say, I was promoted to a moderator from VIP Mod but I didn't actually apply. How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Between 2-5 hours a day depending on work, plus a lot more hours on a weekend. If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod? I do! I'm a British Electrician by trade (inspired by the wire mod, no joke, check it out). I also like going 4x4'ing, riding motorbikes, target-shooting (.22LR) (and yes, guns are legal in the UK with a lot of holes to jump through), and making other projects which I will eventually share a website for. Did you read the staff rules?: ChrisRid
  8. Neutral I do think it would be a great addition to the server and would certainly encourage more people to change into this job role, however I also appreciate that the server strives to be 'vanilla' with 'no downloads' where possible.
  9. Thank you smileeface, things are working out well so far! It is crazy to think a game (or rather a mod, for a mod, for a old game ) can influence life so much! I wonder if the next generation of electricians will be pickaxe-wielding redstone engineers? Cheers tdizz! I'll be back online for a laugh soon hopefully This cracked me up haha! Bet the FBI are keeping a close eye on the MRDM ban list! Ahh Canlex, I know! But you were extremely helpful, and we had a good laugh too! Really appreciate everything you've done and hope to see you in game again soon! Cheers mate
  10. In-game name: ChrisRid SteamID: (https://steamid.io/): Steam_0:1:17720402 In-game rank: VIP Mod Reason: Hi there guys! It's been a while since I've been able to get on the server or post on the forums, and unfortunately I don't think I will be able to spend the time needed to carry out my staff duties for the foreseeable future, due to my current work commitments. That's not to say that I won't be able to catch up with everyone when I have a day off now and then, so you'll still see me around for sure! But for now, I feel it's in the best interests of both myself and for Garnet, for me to step down from being part of the staff team on the DarkRP server. I would like to offer my thanks to everyone in the current staff team for doing a fantastic job, it takes a lot of time and dedication keeping the server running smoothly! I would like to hope that I have made a valuable contribution during my short time in the team, and maybe in time to come, I'll be in a position where I can help once again. If you're interested, I work as an electrician in the UK and have been working mostly in London for the past 4 years. In the last couple of months, I decided to move back to my hometown (on the South Coast) to be closer to my family and friends that I had lost touch with, and as a result, I have left the company I was working for in London and I now work on various sites on the South Coast. This has meant that I'm working a lot more hours and normally do 6 or 7 days a week. A fun fact... the reason I became an electrician is because of GMod! When I was growing up, I remember downloading the Wire Mod and I spent countless hours playing around with it. I learned an enormous amount about electronics, everything from logic gates, to circuits, to programming micro-controllers; and at some point I suddenly thought, if I can do this in a game then why don't I do it in real life!? Electronics became a hobby, I made all sorts of stuff and only continued learning more over the years. A decade later, here I am working as a qualified professional in the industry! I guess if you do what you love, it doesn't feel like work Anyways, I hope to see everyone around sometime soon! -Chris
  11. Do you know if the x64 branch a client-side issue? In other words, could I fix that my end? If so, it would be handy if there’s a quick fix, even for my own benefit
  12. Description: So I was having a browse through the in-game rules and MOTD (as you do) and I noticed a few things that you may consider changing / updating? I've listed them below: 1) The MOTD rules menu uses a dark text on a dark background which can be a little difficult to see. Could the text-colour be changed? 2) Following on from the "Server Rule Overhaul [Racism/Homophobia/Sexism]" thread, I noticed that the in-game rule menu has not been updated since the new rules came into effect on the 1st of June, and so need updating with the new information? 3) In the in-game rule menu under the heading "Building & Basing Rules", the rule regarding crouch-bases is repeated. Change to only mention it once? Reasoning: (Listed in same order as above): 1) The MOTD rules page is the first thing that new players see when joining the server, so ensuring the rules can be easily read by changing the text-colour against the background-colour will (hopefully) mean more people might read the rules, helping the community as a whole. 2) If new players read the in-game rules about racism/homophobia/sexism as they stand now, they could break the rules without knowing, and it's unlikely that new players would have seen the forum thread. It may also give way to appeals where those rules have been broken? By changing the in-game rules, at least there's no excuse for breaking them which will of course benefit the community. 3) I know duplicated rules in the list is a minor thing, just an observation that you may consider changing? If anything, a more concise list might lead way to players reading the rules? Additional Information: (Listed in the same order as above): 1) Screenshot of the MOTD rules - https://imgur.com/1i1sfp6 2) Screenshot of the in-game rules regarding Racism/Homophobia/Sexism - https://imgur.com/UrW5ryI Link to the rule update thread - 3) Screenshot of the in-game rules showing a duplicated rule - https://imgur.com/o71yBkK https://imgur.com/XOYA0re Hope this is useful! - ChrisRid
  13. These are seriously impressive! I wouldn't even know where to start!
  14. -1 Double and triple check the rules....
  15. Description: A little while back I bought a permanent Glock Fade from the Garnet Store, which is a pretty cool gun! The only thing is that for some reason it's carried in slot 3 (SMG slot) rather than in slot 2 (pistol slot). I know it's a really minor thing, but whenever I'm in a RP situation and quickly go to grab my pistol, I always go for slot 2 expecting it to be there. Reasoning: I would imagine quite a few others may feel the same, and to keep consistency with weapon slots. I would imagine it's a case of changing the text from "3" to "2" in a LUA file, so should be super quick to do. Additional Information: https://imgur.com/JLCvzjS
  16. From level 35 with $1,200,000 to level 45 with $4,700,000 in one sitting!

  17. +1 ShankNinja has been a good laugh and very helpful during my time on the server. -ChrisRid VIP Level 43 DarkRP
  18. +1 I think solution B would be best (to reinstate the video player). I remember the good old days when it worked! However I do also understand and agree that certain people aren't respectful / trustworthy enough to play decent videos. So like aidanpoppas123 said, maybe make the cinema owner start at a much higher level (40+) so that they are invested enough in the server to be decent? And I saw the post that the player isn't working, I don't know myself. But I'm sure with the community here there's enough minds to make it work again?
  19. I know this was posted ages ago but I totally agree. Years back when I used to play DarkRP, I remember setting up a gun-store with the prices under each model of the weapon so it was clear and easy for customers to find what they wanted without having to list everything each time.
  20. Online in the Garnet DarkRP server!

  21. You might be referring to Pangolin's Casino Kit which can be found here on this forum. I've seen a few people use it in the past for blackjack, roulette, etc. Hope that helps!
