I love that you have emphasised helping others, this is exactly what kept me on the server and the reason I also applied for staff. It's a great feeling knowing that you have made some kind of difference to someone's experience by guiding them in their journey, just as others have guided us when we were new.

While I haven't seen you around on the server before that's not necessarily a bad thing as you may have formed friendships and started basing etc. I remember when I first got staff last year I mostly based and kept myself out of trouble, so not a lot of people knew me back then.

Having staff from different time zones is always handy because like you say, there are times when the population is lower and less staff are available to deal with sits.

And I'm intrigued to see the boats that you build too! Perhaps make a post in the creative section sometime?

Overall, you seem decent and have good values. While I haven't met you before, you have the qualities that could make you a great member of the team. Best of luck 🙂

Im very very lost right now because I don't see the issue with an income tax that is

    1) optional (you can evade and just hope u dont get raided for the next like 3 minutes)

    2) needs to be billed MANUALLY (meaning the odds of you getting picked out of 100 players is VERY low)

    3) that you can only be billed with once an hour (with the small chances of the mayor even billing you, this decreases the chances of you getting billed more)

    4) and that the mayor can only bill ONE PERSON every 5 MINUTES

If you're a printer farmer who as spent millions on printers. You can simply avoid any issues by paying the (1-5%) bill (will be capped at 50k). If you make 100k from when you joined and you get billed, your bill is 5k. If you make 1 mill your bill is 50k. if you make 100mill your bill will still be 50k.

I like the 50k cap, that's a good idea. I'd be happy to pay that to avoid police raids, which in turn puts money into the vault adding to the RP element. Like I say, I'm still +1 for this as I think it will be a super upgrade, it's just that with anything new, there's a lot of questions and concerns that get raised. But overall I'm happy 🙂👌

    im not reading all this

hey mr binladenhoe if ur telling me u read all that shit ill accept the dumb rating with grace

While I have given this a massive +1, there are some good points made by Shank that I hadn't considered myself.

The PD defences are pretty OP, but that hasn't mattered so far because the number of PD have generally been low. This update will hopefully increase the number of PD, and change the balance as a result so it's definitely worth thinking about how that will work in practice.

Will it even be possible to raid the PD?
Does it lead to a system of police farming printer farmers?
Would a lone assassin have any chance of completing a hit on the Mayor?
Will there be rule changes (e.g. NLR rule to apply to PD)

I think these are all valid questions which deserve consideration and discussion. I still stand by my +1 because I think this update will boost the number of people RPing as PD. But remember that for printer farmers, there is a HUGE amount at stake. If you have your own and many other peoples printers you have bought, that can be millions in upfront upgrades etc that could be lost in an instant if a raid wiped them out. So I do totally understand the concern as a baser myself. But I'm trying to look at it from both angles too.

    Edit:

I just wanted to also quickly add that while I understand (as a baser myself) that printer tax isn't popular, it's worth remembering that it's overall income tax. So in other words, if you are a Meth Manufacturer, a Weed Cultivator, a Hitman, a Delivery Man, it's the overall increase in income that the Mayor is taxing and there are a lot of other ways to make money than just farming. All of those jobs will be taxed too. In fact, before I knew how to make a decent base, some of these jobs used to be my go-to, and in that sense, may still be the go-to for other players?

Perhaps there is another way of achieving this so that basers aren't targeted? Maybe hide how much income has been made? Or have it tax people at random? Just a suggestion.

first batch will be uploaded once i figure out how

I was struggling for ages trying to upload images to the forums....

In the end, the way I managed to do it was by uploading my images to Imgur (link below) and then opening the image in a new tab, copy the link, and paste into the forum post and it should appear. There might be a better way, but it worked for me so hopefully it should work for you too 🙂

This is genuinely awesome Bizzy! 👌

I think this will give a fascinating dynamic where the Mayor must strike a balance between keeping the cops happy (higher taxes) while keeping the civilians happy (lower taxes) and I'm excited to see it play out. Plus, not only will it boost the number of players working as PD, but it will also boost other jobs at the same time (such as hitmen, who might get paid to kill the mayor). Raiding classes actually have a reason to raid the PD too now, and it will inspire the mayor to become more creative with their defences. And the idea of a PC for the Mayor to work from is brilliant, making it far more intuitive then chat commands for people who are less familiar with the role. I'm also secretly excited to bribe the mayor into lowering taxes while I'm farming  😉

I do have a few questions though....

    1 hour ago, Bizzy said:

    A new tax system:

    • The mayor will be a able to set a salary tax (0-45%)
    • The mayor will be able to set a lottery tax (0-20%)
    • The mayor will be able to set an income tax that players CAN evade when billed manually (0-5%)
    • Salary and lottery tax is automatically withdrawn, income tax is optional for players.
    • Every 10 minutes, 10-20% of the PD vault is distributed evenly to all Police players to incentivize people to play as PD.

If the Mayor is killed, changes job, or leaves the game; would the taxes remain in place? (e.g. salary tax is set at 45% and then the Mayor gets killed, does it keep taking the tax?)

Is the PC protected so that only the Mayor can use it? (e.g. if there was a raid, could the raiders mess with it?)

    • Anyone who kills a vault raider gets a % of the vault money

Does this mean anyone in any role who counters the raid? Or just PD?

My questions are more food for thought, but overall a huge +1 and I think this will be really interesting for sure.

  6. Congratulations Danny the Dog and VeraFly on getting staff of the month 😃  That's a crazy number of sits you guys have taken!

And well done to everyone else on this months work 👍

Also Shin, this April Fools edition is awesome but took me a while to realise it was simply upside down. I was here trying to read it backwards or decode it somehow... doh!  🤣

  7. I know I have posted in this before but this is important! Before changing the rules, I need you to understand how important basers are in this community.

Tonight I was settled down with 34 printers in a very discrete base (which I'd spent a lot of time and money buying off of others).
Next thing I know, Machines and his pal raided me (and destroyed all of the printers and laughed a lot about it).

So myself, all of my alts, SharkNinka, all of his alts; we all dissconnected. Server is down -17 in one raid

Server pop = basers + alts
I'm not going to hang-around if this raid is made any easier, in actual fact it should be way harder to effectively DC 17 people at once.
Congrats Machines! You're a tribute as to why people DC!
You are a prime example of how using the rules to you're advantage, might cause a low server pop because there's no point in basing anymore, let-alone paying $8,000,000 to buy other peoples printers while they AFK.

One raid and -17 population lost!

It's up to you guys what's more important.

Generally people will figure out what they want in their custom class and then save to buy it all at once. Outside of that, it can be done through the forums but be aware that it may take a while to process.

  9. Neutral

I haven't seen you before, which is really surprising given that you say you have 1436 hours on the server.... which is a crazy amount of hours! Those hours do show dedication.

I can't speak for your character in-game, but it might be worth addressing issues that the others have raised. Outside of that, your application is reasonable.

and the servers a mess. I could definitely be helpful in taking the stress off other staffs shoulders.

I disagree that the server is a mess, but I'm not sure if this was meant to have been a continuation of the last sentence / previous line?
I know at certain times of the day there seems to be an increase in trouble makers, and it would certainly be cool for you to help during those times.

Overall, you seem genuine in your want to help and your playtime shows dedication, but I still find it odd that I haven't seen you before with that number of hours. There are some other concerns that others have brought-up which you may want to address. I'm giving a neutral because I have more questions than answers at this moment in time.

In the time that I have got to know Wraith, he has shown himself to be a decent guy and a very active member of the community. He's keen to meet people and have a laugh, while also demonstrating that he can follow the rules from what I have seen. Best of luck man!

Confirming my reference. I have been playing in the server with Gun_fire1 for a couple of weeks and I can say he's a really down-to-earth guy. He's been helpful and kind, and has always been careful to follow the rules from what I have seen. I think that he would make a good addition to the staff team as he seems very level-headed and sensible, while also fitting in well with the community. Good application and I wish you the best of luck!

    Printer Claiming

+1 if done in a different way...

The biggest fear of being raided is that it can take literally hours to set up a base and buy enough printers (plus wait to break-even from upgrading them) in order for basing to be worthwhile, and by being raided, literally hours of work can be lost in the space of a few minutes.

I'm not keen on the idea of printers being claimed / taken in the sense you've outlined. But what if instead, a printer was locked-out by a raider until the owner (person basing with the printer) paid the lock-out fee, which would go to the raider? This way the baser can keep the printer and the raider can make good money, so that hours of work isn't lost in an instant? It would also incentivise raiders to lock them out to get the fee rather than blowing the printers up. And it could even be a hefty fee too, a fully upgraded printer makes 32k ever 20 mins and I'd be happy to pay that or more as a fee (per printer!) in order not to loose my printers. That way everyone wins!

    Base Security System

    +1

I like this idea! The streets can often be quiet but with lots of people online as they're all to scared to leave their base (like me)

    New Breaching Method

    +1

I like the idea and I'm happy as a baser to be more inventive with my builds. I'm worried it could be potentially OP, as a team of raiders versus one baser may make basing impossible. But it's an idea worth exploring.

    Edit:

Took a toxic clan against GG out of my entry.

In-game it's commonplace to see people advertising "selling credits" or "buying credits", as there's a continual supply and demand for them. The reasons I agree are as follows:
    - Reduced number of adverts in-game
    - A place where people can more-easily be matched with those that wish to buy / sell
    - Better security in terms of records (keeping promises) and knowing the trade will go smoothly
    - Potential increase in donations on the server (the credits come from Garnet originally of course)

Overall seems like a better solution than adverting in-game until someone agrees to trade in an ambiguous way

I have only recently been told about this by a couple of people. It seems to be a high-level basing defence against high-level raiders. I assume high-level because it’s unlikely lower levels have found this out, or have access to RPG’s etc.

Personally, in order to defend against splash-damage, I choose a larger base (like a warehouse) and sit everything further back from the main entrance. It achieves the same result but in a more simplistic way without requiring these kind of exploits.

The only counter-arguments I would have is that smaller bases won’t be used as much so everyone will be fighting to get a large base. The vast majority of small bases don’t seem to get used as much as they could do already. Secondly, for any serious printer-farmer this might be devastating.. A raid is one thing (loosing some cash or whatever), but blowing up all 12, 16, 24 printers isn’t a small deal. Remembering that these printer farms add good numbers to the server population.

Overall, it makes no difference to me, and it is a kind of exploit.

  15. Description: [description of what you are suggesting, one paragraph minimum]
While working as a Meth Manufacturer, often I collect a few hundred-thousand (in meth) at a time before selling it to the Meth NPC. I've
noticed that if I'm very close to the next level (in XP) then it doesn't carry over any of the additional XP over-and-above what's required
to achieve the next level. I'm suggesting that if possible, the additional XP is carried over.

    Hypothetical example:
If I'm currently level 79 and only 10 XP is required to reach level 80, but selling my meth grants 100 XP, then 90 XP is carried over and
    added to level 80.

Reasoning: [how would this benefit our server?]
I think it would benefit the server in a number of ways:
    - A person's level is more accurate and representative of what they have achieved in game. I've lost XP to this before.
    - People wouldn't be stuck playing, waiting for something else to level them up in order to sell their meth to avoid loosing XP.
    - People would feel more encouraged to leave the safety of their base rather than to horde it until the next level.

    	Additional Information: [Photos/Videos][/CODE]
Other than uploading a video of myself deliberately loosing XP (which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid) I'm not sure what else to add.
