  1. -1, and here's why. If one 'event' equates to 10 whole sits, any staff in their right mind would rather run events instead of waiting for players to kill themselves in order to hit that sit quota. The would lead to the definition of an event being called into question, and staff would likely just start spamming super low-quality events to run up their sit counts. Bad events are bad, and this is a bad way to reward something that is already in the job description. As a former gamemaster, the only reward I ever got from an event is the satisfaction of running a good one. Also, this would be very difficult to keep track of.

    Mikel Report

Who are you reporting? [Staff/Player]: StaffYour in-game name: Rockwell/FenYour SteamID (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:0:79611486In-game name of reportee: MARSOC 1stLt MikelSteamID of reportee (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:0:92656937Date & Time of incident: Sometime yesterday.Timezone: EST. What happened? (include any proof): Alright then, let's get started. I've been playing the server a bit more recently now that I'm basically attached to my trashcan by a leash thanks to the Flu, and I've been noticing a few inconsistencies. The most prominent of which being an instance where Mikel very quickly came off reserves and received a promotion to 1stLt from 2ndLt. Normally, I could hardly give a shit, but to see a staff knowingly not abide by the rules is just unacceptable in my eyes. I asked him and his faction leader Michael about when exactly Mikel came off reserves, and he had this to say. Mikel provided a very informative response, but Michael had something much more useful to say. I proceeded to provide a statement of the rules and explain that his promotion was technically against the rules. (For reference: Promotions: When somebody comes off of reserves, they must wait a total of 2 weeks + the standard time promotion for the appropriate rank. Ex: 2ndLt comes off reserves and the cooldown from 2ndLt to 1stLt is 2 weeks. The person will wait 3 weeks total. ) (Prior to Gildarts' rule revision last night, the cooldown was actually 4 weeks.) Now, I'm no expert, but 2 weeks and a day isn't exactly 3 weeks. Feel free to fact check me on this. Once I pointed it out, Mikel had this to say; I didn't quite understand what the man was trying to say by this, but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Later that night, I had a discussion with Gildarts about the issue and he changed the rules a bit, but even by the new standards, Mikel is still invalid for promotion. The first line of dialogue in the post is from just a few minutes ago, when I informed Mikel again about the violation. When it's not coming from someone who can give him more power, he just doesn't seem to care it seems. It's not a big deal to me, truly, but when I see staff handling situations based on 'pretense', 'unwritten rules', and 'what past staff have claimed', it's very frustrating to me as a player when apparently I cannot look at the rules thread and know what the rules are.
  3. Yeah I don't know why this is the specific type of roleplay we're gunning for, and MP are certainly never making a return. 'Hey guys, lets court-martial this Private because he couldn't tell the difference between a US ghillie and an RU ghillie at a 100 meters!' Realistically, nobody is going to enforce that shit, it happens way too often, and the players who do it aren't going to follow along with the RP.

    Game Panel

I mean, I did say that in the OP. I'm quite aware. It's not something has to be fully fleshed out all at once. It's a platform to be added to and expanded upon over time.

    Raiding

Maybe, but the claim was that your raids were RP based, so now I know for sure that whoever was making that statement was lying. Anyways, when it comes to psychological warfare and undermining the enemies morale, nobody knows more about that than me (See: ISI at any given point). Sadly, you guys are 'having fun' or whatever you want to call it at the expense of others, which is retarded and you should feel bad for. It's a game, relax. When you stack wars like that (this has happened before) people get annoyed by it and stop playing. Trust me when I say that the server is a lot less fun when you don't have anybody to fight against. Actions have consequences. Alright, confirming my theory that it is just for the 'EPIC FEEDS'. Yeah, this is pretty classic 'toxic' behavior. You can't be doing that kids. It's not good for the server. Trust me, I know the sentiment that 'US can go fuck off and die', I did make RU after all, but it's really bad for the longevity of the server. Just be better at the game, and then you can talk shit. (CLARIFICATION: THE GAME IS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET FEEDS.)

    Raiding

They haven't since silent raids were a thing, which was way back when I first started out, and even then it was a stretch to say anything had RP significance. What bothers me is when people do or defend things under the pretense of RP, when they really have nothing to do with it. E.g whoever said that their reasons to raid are CLASSIFIED RP.

RP levels through the roof. I guess the super serious RP aspect of these raids nowadays must be classified even to a Vega Lieutenant.

    Game Panel

I kinda want to stay away from big events on the MRP server as much as possible. Unless done right with the proper planning and resources, they do more harm than good, trust me. Players will be more upset over a bad event than no event at all, and there's a lot of room for error when you increase the scale.

    Game Panel

Hey everyone, shrimps again. I was goofing around with some things today and I had an idea to improve the state of some things around the server. The concept is simple; Create a staff-accessible menu to that allows them to easily do certain things to create the set-ups for small events on a single-faction level. In the past, especially with the SWRP server, Garnet explored a few options when it came to running events in the PvE environment, and one of the things implemented was automated events in which droids would repeatedly spawn around a central object that players would have to destroy to stop the invasion. It was simple, didn't require staff, but it got old quick as a server-scale event. What I'm proposing here is similar, but very different. Instead of having automated events on a timer, staff would be able to conduct these small events at will through the game menu, instead of leaving the responsibility entirely to managers+, as typically they are the only ones with the power to run events. It's to my understanding that currently Admin+ can run events, but don't necessarily have the resources to execute them properly, and most events in recent history have all been attempted at a server wide scale. Usually, it doesn't work out that well. At that size, players often expect a complex set up with a seamless execution and narrative, and that can be asking for a lot. By dividing up the workload, and issuing out events to separate factions, there's a lot less factors to consider and that should make it easier on all the staff to run good events, thus making the between-war time period a bit more entertaining, by popular demand. As far as the game panel itself goes, a simple UI that gives staff (Maybe Mod+?) the ability to have a few simple tools to work with when setting up an event. Things like spawning 5 or so hostile NPC's on the staff member, creating a little payload entity that players have to defuse, and other scenarios like that. The options that staff are given wont allow staff to make events that are too RP heavy, because those don't usually work out well with this playerbase. This would be a small, easy to expand upon feature that would liven up things outside of war and give staff more opportunities to provide for the playerbase, rather than constantly punishing them. I can't imagine it being super code heavy, and whether or not Garnet wants to or has the time to work on this is up to him, but it's just something I think people would enjoy. To give an example of how one of these events would play out on a super basic level; >Staff goes to a building in the town, opens the menu, and scatters about a few hostile NPCs. >Staff drops a box of ammo in the house. >Staff goes on a class, sets their job to NATO CDR or some bullshit. >Staff briefs a SOC faction on the situation in the town, and tells them to eliminate the threats and secure the munitions. >SOC members form a little task force, plan out their mission, and go do the thing. Easy peasy, let me know what you think.

    Raiding

Simple thing to add to the 'ask staff' clause to fix a lot of problems: When players are asking staff for a raid, they have to provide a reason, whether that reason be rescue, intel, etc. Kinda sick of seeing a 'EPIC FEED' thread in shitpost twice a week.

    Raiding

Now this makes sense. To that I say, solo-raids don't really benefit anybody, and actual raids should require some type of planning other than 'Alright all my tacticals go to DB with your grenades' so there shouldn't be a single issue with having to ask staff at the same time. +1

I'm just saying that's something that used to happen with the 'ask staff' rule back on csdesert. It's a valid concern now that metagaming is no longer a rule.

    Raiding

I think the real sentiment behind the 'I don't want to ask for permission' is just a matter of losing the element of surprise. Someone is gonna ask, staff on the other side are gonna hear about it, metagaming is no longer an enforced rule, and before you know it the other base is totally locked down and ready to go before the raid even starts. Correct me if I'm wrong. If that is the case, just bring back the metagaming rule. If people are preemptively preparing for a raid and haven't seen an enemy raiding party themselves, easy warn.
  14. If half a faction can get banned for fucking around in base, so can you. Accident or not, you still showed a deliberate intent to do something against the rules after being warned not to do so. Be grateful this wasn't longer. -1
  15. So, you're not exactly in the wrong here. The rule on impersonation (Do not Impersonate: Changing your name to resemble that of another player in an attempt to act like them, or hurt their reputation.) only applies if you attempted to act like Conway and, get this, impersonate him. Then again, it is kind of a dickhead thing to do without asking first, but still not technically enforceable.
  16. Personally, I think it's better to take situations that you as the staff are involved in, and put them in the hands of others. Good call on talking to upper staff in the initial situation too.
  17. To quote the rules; Do not Disrespect in Out of Character (OOC) Chat: Out of character applies to both OOC chat and administrative situations. This also means no harassment. Do not target other players in any OOC platform that is related to Garnet Gaming. Doing so will result in appropriate punishment at the discretion of staff. Conway was pretty clearly out of line here. I've had my interactions with him in the past and recently, and his general attitude is pretty 'aggressive' for lack of a better word, but this is just taking it a step to far. +1 for a warn, but no further than that.

    MRP Warns

I think that's just one of the problems of emphasizing factions as friend groups. When someone fucks up, how is their friend supposed to punish them and not come off as a dick? They'd rather just fork it off to staff at that point.

    MRP Warns

Yeah it's a punishment for having warns. Personally, I'd like more rule violations to have RP consequences instead of just calling sits and slapping them with a warning, but that's something for another day. If you have a warn that shouldn't be there, appeal it, if not, accept your fate and don't do it again.
