  1. So, I can see grenade friendly fire being turned on as positive, as generally only players who invest time/money into the server will have those. But turning friendly fire on for everything is asking for trouble. It's all fun and games until a group of several people decide to mass their team on the obj, because they're new to the game/they're trolling. This will significantly increase the bans for mass, or at the very least, the reports. Also, I don't see MP's ever coming back due to the potential for abuse. I'm not completely against the idea, I just think it'll cause more trouble than it's worth.
  2. My secondary purpose was to bring this to Garnet's attention that it's still broken. But agreed, it can probably be left alone.
  3. Let's get into it. Search and Destroy is still bugged, attempting to place the bug results in script errors, making it impossible for the bomb planters to win. I didn't see any threads on it, so I decided to post one. If anyone has screenshots, feel free to post them. Edit in response to Garnet: I was on my laptop when I made the thread. Completely forgot to upload some off of my other computer. My point's moot now though, I would remove search and destroy for the time being. If there's a development server, it could be worked out on that, but honestly, I think there's higher priorities then a game-mode that hasn't worked in a long time. As a side note, I also noticed a massive drop in my fps after the search and destroy war yesterday (normally get between 170-180, was going down as low as 30 afterwords), even with full GMOD+Steam+PC restarts. Not sure if it's related, will do some more sleuthing.
  4. As someone who definitely favors CQC and melee combat, I think on this map, sniping is in an OK spot. The last map was sniper hell though. There are different flank routes you can take to the various OBJ's that minimize your LOS with an enemy sniper. There's also plenty of cover to block/obstruct the view of a sniper. It's not particularly difficult to close the gap/get to cover if you're movement is adequate. Yes, I do own an Orsis, but generally only get kills with it when actively looking for other snipers, as it's definitely not my best ability. As a final note, what are your thoughts on headglitching? EDIT: As far as moving when using a sniper, I think it's fine where it is right now. I'll add more info when I have time.
  5. So you want SOF factions to be glorified base factions? The following orders and question portions and are meant to weed out people who don't pay attention. -1 I'd also like to point out, for our tryouts, you can't use donor weapons. Not sure if that's the same for all faction tryouts though.
  6. In normal war scenarios, I agree with this, albeit with that caveat that sometimes I just don't want to talk. However, during tryouts it would be useful to see how good someone's movement+positioning is. Going to +1 this.
  7. +1 Getting shot in the arm by the Orsis and dying feels pretty bad.
  8. +1 Has a high level of maturity and is active. I personally think he would make a great staff member!

    MRP Overhaul

That makes sense. At some point down the line, would you like for enlisted and slightly newer players to be able to interact with G4S? Or in your mind do you have it as an Officer's only experience? Pardon me if I'm phrasing this strangely.

    MRP Overhaul

Seems like a good idea, I could definitely see it working out, providing the right people are chosen to run the faction. In addition to what's stated above, having server events that could build out a story-line for how this faction came to be on the server would be sweet as well. For instance, when they're introduced onto the map, have a server event that gets everyone aware and involved with the faction. In addition, have major events that put RU vs US at high pop with the victor determining a plot point for G4S. Maybe some perk that lasts until the next major event. It doesn't even have to be game-play related, maybe a US flag goes up in the G4S base if US wins. I'd have to revisit this idea. While I like the idea of only officers of other factions being able to interact with G4S, I feel it would limit the potential impact a third faction would have on the server. Perhaps higher ranked enlisted could do Sims with them or something, not sure on how I would approach this, will continue to brainstorm.
  11. Through your actions and leadership, you made Marines one of the largest factions on the server. MARSOC is also doing quite well as a result of your leadership. Anyone with that level of work ethic can be trusted as staff in my book. +1
  12. In-game name: Don Age: 24 Steam ID: STEAM_0:0:48119736 Warns: Zero Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5:00) Playtime: 2GA RFR POS MP5A5 Meta has played for 371:51:06. Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?: Yes Referral(s): What administrator recommended you to apply?: N/A Past experiences as staff: I have several thousand hours of community, twitch chat, and discord moderation experience. I have been moderating for a twitch streamer that averages several hundred viewers for the past four years, as well as her discord, which currently has around four thousand people in it. In addition, I moderate several smaller discords. Proof is available on request. How do you plan on benefiting our server?: First, let's talk about from a gameplay/player perspective. Despite having sub 400 hours on the server, I've made an effort to communicate with all the base factions and as many SOC factions as I could. After playing in Army for most of those 400 hours, I decided I need a change of pace, and joined 2GA, with the ultimate goal of joining a SOF faction on RU. In my experience, players prefer a staff member they can interact with and get to know, versus one that only hops on an hour a night to get their sits in. I hope to be active to the point I can interact with the community both as a player and as staff, inspiring the player base to behave properly thereby reducing the amount of moderation needed, allowing other staff members to do the same, ultimately resulting in a healthier community. However, there will always be minges/trolls/RDMers and players that will need to handled appropriately. To that end, I like to use the analogy of a iron hand in a soft glove. You treat the players that were reported with fairness, but if needed, the glove comes off. I'm assuming there are staff guidelines for punishments such as a two week ban for MassRDM, which is great, but I've noticed that some members, both players and staff, use those guidelines a bit too literally without using common sense. For example, a new player who doesn't have a grasp of how the server works comes on, gets trained and is given his gun. Upon arriving to his first DB, the opposing faction raids. The player gets killed repeatedly. A few minutes later the raid ends, but several members of the opposing faction come up to his base. He kills them, remembering the raid. He's then reported and slapped with a two week ban for MassRDM, when a verbal warning probably would have done the trick. I'm using this example because I was the player who reported him, I mentioned that a verbal warning would be enough, as the new player didn't know what was going on. He was banned anyway. Since then, I've been wary of reporting people who are new at the game, which is not how it should be. However, a player that's been playing the game for a while that throws a grenade in DB for example should not be given the same warning. He's played long enough to know the rules and should not be given an exception due to favoritism. That's not common sense and good judgment, that's bias, which should be avoided. In conclusion, I hope to contribute my common sense,, leadership skills,, and experience in order to make the community healthier, while having a closer connection between players and staff. Have you ever been banned or punished on GG MRP?: I have not. Have you made any previous applications: I have not. How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Two to four hours on weekdays, generally in the afternoon/evening. Anywhere from four to eight hours on weekends. Thanks for reading.
  13. From a balance standpoint, this makes sense. Limiting classes is often done in games for balance purposes. However, it would cause a huge headache for Garnet and players would be upset they couldn't play the classes they paid for. How would you feel if you paid $50 for something and then you couldn't use it? I sure wouldn't be happy about it. Therefore, -1
  14. +1 Was a responsible individual when in Army, and would make a good fit for staff.
  15. Army will miss you On the other hand, I can now clap you with the mp5 and not get reported for RDM :^) Best of luck in GRU, feel free to pop in Army TS to chat if you want.
  16. From my interactions with Dex, I can honestly say a solid +1 from me. We've had some good conversations both in ts and in-game. I've also seen him helping out new players with regards to objectives and positioning. I'd love to see him on the staff team.
  17. I've talked with him on TS and in-game. He seems like a pretty chill dude. Based on the application alone, I'd give him a chance. +1
  18. DITF was good until it went TTGL.
