Staff members SteamID (https://garnetgaming.net/darkrp/bans) (/id (name): He isnt staff so he isnt on the board anymore
Date & Time of incident:About 9 months ago.
Timezone:Eastern
Ban Reason:Advertising
How long were you banned for?:999 years
Proof of Ban:when i load up into garnet it says "banned for 999 years, advertising.
What happened? (include any proof): Im not sure if it has to say .com but I put a sign that said pornhub on a resized computer.
Why should your ban be removed?:I'll be honest my ban was totally deserved. What I did was 100% against the rules and I should've better with the hours I had on the server. but I think I deserve another chance. I know the rules I broke and I know why its not ok. I guess I was trying to be funny by putting a sign with that said pornhub but the outcome wasn't funny. I never wanted this to happen to me and have to waste your time. The community is such a great place and I never wanted to leave it like this. I wouldn't put this much time into trying to be unbanned if I didn't like the server/community so much. I learned my lesson and I want to be part of the community again. I've had a lot of time to think about what I did and to make sure it never happens again.

Sorry if this was bad but i'm trying my hardest.

Technically speaking, you did advertise a website. However, this specific incident is such a trivial reason to get banned. If you were advertising something like another community with actual intent of advertising it and getting more visitors,  then the ban would be justified. In this case, it's simply not. A sign/textscreen saying "pornhub" or "pornhub.com"  should only we worthy of a verbal warn at most. It seems that you had no malicious intent and simply slipped up. I would hate to see someone not allowed to play at all for such a small and minute error, especially one that you showed much remorse for and understand how to avoid the same issue in the future. That being said, you have my +1.

+1 this is a silly reason to be banned (if you didnt get a warning) and I agree with Moldy this should've at least been a verbal and if not deleted then the perms. I don't think he would be trying to minge if he had high hours like he said. the rule is really to follow though actually.

Everything would just be easier if I was unbanned. I was told I needed to show I learned my lesson and thats what I tried to do. I know you guys dont care whether im unbanned or not but everything would just be better if I was.

+1 I think a few months to think about what he did is more than enough time for him to have matured and learned his lesson. Although if you do get caught doing it again i doubt the community would be as kind the second time around.

It is  still a Valid ban. You made appeals in the past but got denied. -1.

It doesn't make sense to have a perma-ban if you can just apologize and come back.

No sure why MRP guys are giving +1.

While that's certainly a valid point, please take into account that the term "advertising" doesn't accurately describe what he did. He clearly had no intention of advertising the website of pornhub, as he was literally building a laptop with props.  You are correct in that the ban is valid, but some lenience should still be expressed. Bear in mind, he had zero malicious intent and was banned without warning. This entire issue could have been solved through someone simply telling him "hey man, don't put links up".  A permanent ban is complete overkill in this situation.

I would agree if it wasn't a porn link on a server full of minors. And giving minor the means to view that content in itself I would consider malicious. It's bad enough we have 10 year olds screaming the N word lets not give leniency to people distributing porn sites.

And if this belief is "cringy" to you please go back to MRP and stay off DarkRP ban appeals.

I play d rp and mil rp I just happen to be staff for mil rp, I'm a member of this community who plays both and I get a say of what I think is a +1 or a -1, not to get attention but to better the community and how the Reputation is for the community

I'm still +1 he made a mistake long ago and has owned up and learned from it and he didn't mean to do it

I think he wanted to do it he just didnt know what the outcome would be.

Most people over the age of 11 know what porn is. Sex is literally apart of everyday life.

Yikes

Most people over the age of 11 know what drugs, cigarettes, and crime is too, but does that mean we should encourage it?  And yes sex is part of most teenagers and adults life. I don't know about you but I'm not going to let people broadcast porn on a game where there are kids playing regardless of if there is 100 or 1.

Since when have I played MRP lmao, I'm former DarkRP staff.  In all seriousness, don't try to negate others' opinions because they come from a different part of the community. They are just as valid as yours and doing that only makes you look bad. Furthermore,  to say that he is "distributing porn sites" is quite the stretch. I guarantee you anyone who regularly plays Garry's Mod DarkRP has been exposed to far worse. A textscreen saying "pornhub.com" isn't anywhere close to something like playing pornography in the cinema, which would ACTUALLY be distributing pornography.

By no means was he broadcasting it.

Toxins, I agree completely 100% with your ideals regarding not exposing young kids to porn.  However, he simply wasn't doing anything that qualifies as such. Remember, this entire situation could have been solved through a verbal warn by a staff member to take the sign down. The entire point behind this appeal is that a perma ban is far too excessive.
