Dear Marines/MARSOC

Recommended Posts

Before I continue my rant, I just want to say I am not doing this out of "spite" but for pure concern for the faction and how it's affecting the United States during war time/debrief. Since I have made my "comeback" on the server I constantly see the narcissistic attitudes and ego's coming from the Marine/MARSOC Officers and how they handle affairs within the United States. This is very concerning to me as I fear if it isn't addressed it's going to continue to get worse and affect us even further. Keep in mind this is MY opinion and this is just what I personally see every time I get on the server, and I don't expect everyone to agree with me. Also, not every officer within the Marines/MARSOC is like this, but they take up a HUGE portion of their officer staff. Some of this stuff also applied to other factions in the US but I mainly see people in Marines/MARSOC do it, hence why this is oriented towards them.

The first thing I would like to address is the blatant disrespect and immaturity of some leaders within the MARSOC/Marine forces. Day in and day out I see marine officers complain about people "minging" within the US DB even though they do it themselves. I constantly see marine officers kill people randomly in Debrief for no valid RP reason, Hell I even see people that are in staff that do it. This is a problem because when you do this you do it in front of the entire enlistment on and it gives them the idea that it's alright to do these kinds of things. They also kill enlisted when they talk out of PTS, which is a HUGE violation and something they should never do. We should be TEACHING the new privates/enlisted, not randomly killing them just because they talk out of PTS. They constantly yell and beckon towards the US enlisted telling them to "shut the fuck up" and disrespecting them in general.

People need to realise that this is a GAME. We are all here to have fun and relax, we need to stop treating these poor 12-16 year olds like they are actually in the United States Armed Forces with the disrespect and all. They don't come here to get screamed at they come here to play some fucking PvP. Hell, it's not even a bad idea to have some realism in your faction if that's what you're going for, but please look at how @Ethan is running his factions. They don't constantly yell at the base factions/kill them if they talk out of PTS, they are respectful and actually TEACH their enlisted how to do well in wars and tryouts. This is probably the main reason why we are always getting our fucking asses kicked in war. When you build good relations with the enlisted, not only will you have more fun but the enlisted will have an incentive to stay in your faction/the server in general.

This leads me to my next point, officers need to learn how to take criticism and deal with what people say about how they are running their factions. I'm going to give you an example between me and the general of marines Gotham. I am not doing this out of spite, I am only doing this because I feel like I need some sort of "proof" to go along with this. Basically I messaged Gotham about how he led After-War DB and some things I had wrong with how he led it, and instead of responding in a mature way he decided to make my PM public and start to backlash at me. From there we had a heated "Debate" on if I should be critiquing him or not and eventually he stopped responding to me. This is not how a leader should be taking criticism, this should honestly be embarrassing for the Marines on how their commander in chief reacted. They actually were, I had one MARSOC general PM me and ask me to get in TS and when I did he apologized for Gotham, agreeing that he was acting rudely. At the time I didn't want to make a scene out of it, but my patience is wearing thin. If you want to read the exact messages we exchanged, you can read them here and decide for yourself who was in the wrong.

Another example is from earlier today, we were in after war DB when someone in Army talked out of PTS (even though technically US DB was over) and so they decided to kill them immediately, not even talk to them or tell them to not talk when PTS is active. I got fed up and "exposed"/confronted them about it and how they responded is basically saying "Calm down, stop arguing" repeatedly  and proceeded to dismiss their enlisted to their separate debrief. Again, we should be TEACHING these new people/enlisted not killing them on site. We as US officers should be able to take criticism more seriously and maturely, not get upset because a "lower ranking officer" told us what to do. I mean seriously Gotham, I understand that you lead two major factions within the United States but that gets you NO RIGHT to abuse and manipulate your lower command. I was also a General, so I know the stresses of when you get called out for not leading correctly but you need to handle those situations better, same for officers in general.

Really, all of these complaints could be applied to other factions as well. We as the US side need to stick together and cooperate better with each faction, not force outside opinions out because they are a lower rank/not in your faction. Again, this is just a rant but I feel like I needed to address these problems or else they are just going to continue to get out of hand. Here's what I think needs to happen ASAP:

  • We need to start teaching our enlisted more about the server as they play and build/improve our relations with them in general
  • We need to stop minging in US Debrief and killing each other for fun in front of the enlisted while US DB is active
  • We need to stop killing enlisted for talking out of PTS and instead teach them the correct ways to go into after war/pre war DB
  • We need to able to take criticism more maturely and use the criticism we do get to improve our factions for the sake of the United States side of the server.

Please, everyone that is in a position to lead the enlisted need to do a better job, not just Marines/MARSOC. The only reason why I focused these factions is because I see them the most do these kinds of things. I understand people might not like what I'm saying, but I feel like it's important to address these issues. If you're going to reply PLEASE do it in a mature manner, I'd love to have a DEBATE, not a flame war. With that being said, I have concluded my rant and I thank you for reading it.

I understand that we should teach them that they shouldn't be talking out of PTS instead of killing them right away, but they should already know that PTS is active as the officers that claim the DB say that PTS is active and KOS to any interruptions in their advert. Not only that but these new privates/enlisted are already taught that PTS is always active during DB's when they were trained.

“/y PTS” - Permission to Speak, it active during Briefing/Debriefing and Tryouts/Instruction. This is the only accepted way to ask for “PTS”

Keep up the good work MARSOC/Officers. It's not our concern to be "nice" in relations to RP, it's to continue to lead the best and longest running entry faction.

I have 4 people in my officers page, so just do us all a favor and stop dancing around.

Want to know why 1MD grows to insane numbers, it's because I don't treat them like the children they probably are.

It's a game. That is RP. If this is your style of play so be it, but everyone knows I'm usually joking when I treat them "disrespectfully". The "poor 12-16 year olds" that choose to continue to play the server, and even engage with me. Yes, victimizing the player will definitely make you look like a super hero.

Ethan has a decent way to manage his factions, however, it has it's flaws. It's not for everyone. It might be very efficient, but it is hands down probably the most boring experience anyone can go through. Might have something to do with the fact that he can't find anyone to stick around for very long. While some people might prefer running a faction "professionally and nice", I prefer the route of having fun, talking meaningless shit, and fucking shit up in war.

And the main reason why they kick our ass in war is because ethan's factions treat the enlisted well? Maybe they kick our asses in war because we have people like you in  leadership positions who would even think that claim has an ounce of intelligence.

Weird, so the entry faction with probably the most number of people 90% of the time is being accused of having people leaving. Completely illogical.

Honestly, I thought this shit was pretty funny. It was in a roleplay situation where a 2ndLt butter bar critiqued an O-10. I think you're pushing your victim complex onto everyone else. If something Is "in character" aka "not ooc", it is to be taken into roleplay. If you wan't to cry about me saying something mean to you in character, please, go ahead.

TLDR; It aint that deep. And if you want 11B to succeed, stop treating your faction like they're a bunch of sniffling children, and start treating them like individuals who want to have fun. I'll host a meeting for 1MD soon to discuss this post, as maybe I could be closed minded. However, I wouldn't expect much.

(Edit: the two posts above DO have something to do with the original post. At the time of writing, the two first posts were Krimzin and Shibe. Also, I mean NO disrespect towards anyone and everyone I mention in this rant, and hold no grudges and wish for no hostility towards myself and any mentioned peoples. Just want to make that CLEAR from the get go. I love all of you, but there are problems I want to discuss. <3)

Ignoring the two comments above which provide nothing to the original post, I totally agree with you. Though I have little interactions with Gotham, almost none of them are pleasant. First, I would like to address my past. I have gone by many different names, so I will list them in order and division.

Arizona - Army

Victor, Vagabond, Vain, Silent - DF

Gilisarisimo, Ocre - 2GA

Other random names - Marines, 2GA, Army, all PVT

I joined the server in August. I left in September/Novemberish, about the time I applied for DRP staff. Since then, I have not had an MRP session over 2 hours. I don't interact with the community anymore, but not because I switched to DRP. I really do love MRP. The whole reason I joined in August 2018 was because of my friend Wolf, who recommended it to me during summer camp. I stayed because of the order, because of the cool people I met, and because I got into DF at relatively low hours. I loved both of my COLs, and my officers. I had a really good relationship with Rafty, Chris Branch, and Android, and we would play horror maps almost every night and hang out. But something changed. I pulled some dumb stunts. I put a porn link in chat, costing my staff position on the server. I was very goofy, air-headed and mingy, but never disrespectful or toxic towards others. Yes, for a DF member, mingy was not something you wanted. So eventually I was kicked out, only for Phantom to realize I was not the biggest problem in the faction. He wiped it less than a month later. After all that was said and done, I stopped taking for the most part. I would occasionally message Phantom on discord and explain how sorry I was for everything, pouring my heart out to both Ruin and Spectre for advice, and relied heavily on my new Green Beret friends. I wasn't toxic, wasn't disrespectful, and didn't minge. I never got a warn or a ban, or even jail time. I had about 5 sits placed on me, and hacking accusations, which, after Phantom had spectated me, I thought were over. However, I still got backlash. Back in the day, I used to be on good terms with Gotham. I could talk to him, have a conversation, and he would reply with kind words. Same went with others. After the incident, there was backlash which was totally valid. I. Had. Fucked. Up. A DF member, posted a porn link in chat, was mingy, and was kicked out of his faction publicly. I was a laughingstock, and rightfully so. I deserved it. Fast forward a couple of months. I join DRP one late night with Flak and Dash, and I have the most fun that I had had for months. DRP was a breath of fresh air for me, and I fell in love. At around 30 hours I applied for staff and was accepted a day later. I changed. No matter what everyone else on MRP thinks of me, I am a different person. Most people who assume I'm toxic, or mingy, haven't met me. They haven't sat down and held a conversation with me. Im not going to mention who, but recently I had a conversation with this person. They thought I was a toxic, mingy, DRP staff member who was identical to Wendell (which no disrespect towards you Wendell. You are great at what you do and I continue to support you through it. Just using you for reference <3). However, after a simple 15 minute conversation where I laid all cards out on the table, he realized who I was. I have changed. But people don't realize it. When I joined the server back a month or so ago, I tried to play seriously. I came off of GB reserves, interacted with US and RU, but didn't get far. Whenever I would say something in OOC, or PM someone, I would be barraged with "Hey its Vagabond" or be called a minge, though nothing I said was in a joking manner. On my first night back, I played with Gotham; at least I didn't know it was Gotham. I was very respectful, and saw that Foxhound was the new GEN for Marines, or so I thought. I PMd Foxhound/Gotham about new weapon metas, how he had been liking the faction, and some other light conversation points. I thought we were on good terms. The next day, Gotham is wasted. He's disrespectful to everyone. During the war, I am running alongside him and try to make some small talk. He tells me to "Shut the fuck up Vagabond", proceeds to call me a worthless piece of shit, and say that I don't have the respect of anyone. I proceed to tell him, without any hint of disrespect or anger, that most of the DRP community has accepted me, and I am on good terms with almost all of them. Instead of leaving it, instead of telling it to my face, he proceeds to tell everyone in OOC how much of a shitty person I am, and then disrespected the entire DRP community. Not only that, but in afterwards DB, when everyone is lined up, he proceeds to kill me. He starts by saying, "Don't be pieces of shit like this guy, Vagabond", kills me in front of all the enlisted who are supposed to look up to me, and then continues to disrespect me. On the forums, he belittles everything I saw, which is fine. Its his 1st Amendment Right after all. I do it to. I voice my opinions very clearly, as I am doing here. But when I even messaged him a simply frowny face in TS last night, he said, quote, "fuck off vaga", and simply left it at that. A certain someone, who I will not mention, joined the DarkRP Mod+ TS channel one day when the GameMasters were planning a community event for the server. Instantly, he joined and started making fun of me, one of our members who happens to be a furry, a very gentle and kind man who has children, and another one of my good friends. My point being, there is lots of disrespect, and I am glad you made this point Prison. Its not just in game. Its not just MARSOC. And even then, its not just MRP. Though a lot of it stems from MRP, which is a discussion for a whole other day as I really don't want to stir or create drama, just state facts, a good portion of disrespect also comes from DRP.

This is becoming a bigger and bigger problem every day. I have been dreading making this post, but this is a good enough platform for it. I know I will receive lots of backlash from the primary suspects who usually hunt down my posts, but I've built enough of a positive reputation with my brothers on DRP and the few who know me well on MRP that loosing internet points will not decrease the truth, positivity, and genuine words I type. MRP has been notoriously toxic towards DRP staff, yet the few MRP players who switch to DRP, even for a little, realize it isn't bad at all. I have almost 600 hours in MRP, and about 400 hours on DRP. And from my time on MRP to DRP, MilitaryRP has, for the most part, been a toxic environment. People like Ethan, Ozzy, Delphin, Red Crypt, Uncle Burger, and a few others have been the nicest and upstanding officers I have seen. So many times have I come to Ethan for advice, no matter the current period of my long history on MRP, and he has helped me every time. Ozzy, who I never talked to before, gave me some really great talk and banter about how the servers community was doing. Delphin, who when he resigned, made me shed tears because he was there from day one, always being a standup guy. Red Crypt and Uncle Burger, who I cannot express ENOUGH how much gratitude I have for them, especially Red Crypt for always sticking by my side. All these people, however, compared to the masses are not enough. There are too many officers and staff members who are blatantly toxic towards other players on the server and other players from DRP. This needs to end.  There is a quote I have been turning over in my head for the past couple of months. Its from Abraham Lincoln. Very famously he states, "A house divided against itself cannot stand", and I think thats very powerful and relevant to our current time. Every day, both of our communities are more and more separated. Whether it was recently, with Krimzin and Lyri, or whether it was Phantom and the entire DRP community, or countless other times when DRP players and staff were toxic towards MRP players and staff or vice versa; its been a problem. And no one seems to want to address it. We both share so much in common. We are both playing GMod, a ridiculously old game with an outdated engine, yet we still have a passion for it. We are both playing in the Garnet Gaming community, which personally, has been the best community I have ever been involved with. The only difference is that we have two separate game modes. Because of the rules for each game mode, we have grown to hate each other. And I can say this as I have spent lots of time in each community. I understand I am not a veteran, and I am a relatively new player in terms of all of Garnet's history, but I feel I have made a pretty big mark being a more recent player and all. DarkRP players view MilitaryRP players as stuck up, arrogant, toxic, and not fun. The stereotype is that MRP is all work, no play, and that you guys treat the most minor things with the greatest force and punishment. This is not true. Ive played on MRP and have had a blast, and have met many genuine people because of my time there. MilitaryRP players usually perceive DarkRP players as toxic, mingy, no respect, no control, and a weak staff team, which also isn't true. We have a very united and unified staff team. We are ALWAYS talking and communicating with each other. And most of us are not mingy. There are a few bad apples, like the recent Lyri, and Gotham who make these stereotypes true. I am at fault for this too. I was known in the past for being mingy, and it has stuck. But we are more similar that you believe. We should be unified, because we are still in the same community. The most trash we talk, the more hatred we develop for each other, the harder it is to stick together. This community will fall apart sooner or later if we continue to fight each other over petty internet points or past experiences with a person. This is about moving on. Thats my piece on this topic, irrelevant to the original post. I read it and something clicked. I was proud someone was standing up to fight injustice, at the fear of losing their rank. Gotham has the power to get PrisonNightmare demoted for a fact, and a simple word of mouth can tarnish his reputation, yet he still voiced his opinion. You have brought me out of my shell Nightmare, and have allowed me to express my true opinions. What I wrote here is not to target Phantom, Gotham, Lyri or anyone I mentioned. Please do not misunderstand my words. I still hold very high respect for each and every one of you. Phantom, though you have never really liked me, I have always admired you. You do your job extremely efficiently. You don't let emotion play a factor in it, and thats why MRP is successful. Its because of you. You are the steel backbone of the MRP community. Gotham, though you clearly dislike me, I still think you are a superb leader. You have been holding both Marines and MARSOC for as long as I've been on the server, and you have provided some extremely entertaining nights with your sing alongs and other shenanigans. This isn't supposed to be a personal attack on you, so please don't take it that way. I just wanted to voice some constructive criticisms and issued I've had with you in the past. Ive added no emotion to it, simply stated the facts. If anything I said above is untruthful, to both you and Phantom, PLEASE let me know and I will change it. This is supposed to better our two communities.

Back the the original post, yeah, things need to change. PVTs should not be killed because they broke PTS. Many people break it and are allowed to because they are friends with the officer leading DB. It should not be a system. Just tell the PVT. Most privates ignore training and can't possibly know what a DB is without actually being in one. Its a first time experience, and once explained, will help them. All killing them does is either make them upset, causing them to mass rdm or break rules, or just hold no respect for that officer who killed them. But alas, I don't play MRP too much anymore. It isn't my jurisdiction. I believe everything PrisonNightmare says in this post is true, and I agree with it. Change needs to come, one way or another.

Thanks,

Arizona, Victor, Vagabond, Vain, Silent, Gilisarisimo, Ocre, Taskmaster, Buddha, Buddha Maxim, and my final form,

eXg Buddha

Sorry my nigga I was genuinely confused. I thought Foxhound wasn't you and that you had been replaced. Was low-key sad. And yeah, I realize you were drunk that day and it isn't probably how you always act, but I was a little shocked. Still love you tho. That shit you said was hella funny.
