WARNING: while this update will NOT feature any flashing lights or content that may induce seizures (as I do not wish to endanger anybody) our Halloween update WILL contain intense jump scares and genuinely scary content. Players with heart conditions, anxiety, or a fear of horror should approach with caution. Given this advisory, if you wish to be exempt from any features of sorts, please notify me IMMEDIATELY and comment on this post, as to allow me to disallow anything scary popping up on your screen, otherwise, enter at your own risk and be prepared for a chilling journey into the unknown. This year will be the best combination of them all, so please prepare for a spine tingling Halloween update, that'll blow any competitor we presently have out of the water. Coupled with the the longest duration (netting just a bit over 2 weeks) and more content you've ever seen before for Halloween on any server This update will be a "revolving update" with unannounced changes, simply because I don't want everybody to see everything and get used to the scares I set up within the first 2-3 days playing on the server, as such, one day, you may get.. "a little bit scared" when opening a door on the map, or perhaps just opening the F4 menu during the wrong time. Seasonal Map Change The beloved Halloween version of Downtown from last year is welcomed back to our server! Featuring more jumpscares than before... Scheduled Automated Events On intervals, events may pop up across our map, some of those could include hoards of zombies rushing at players, Antlions overtaking fountain. Striders arriving at the beach The Backrooms Your beloved backrooms is back Start practicing your escape early, because in 1 week we will have limited-time items to be gained from escaping the backrooms! One of the friends you may encounter navigating the backrooms looks like this How do I access the backrooms? An NPC can be found at spawn in order to be transported to the backrooms There are multiple spawnpoints making it all that much more confusing to figure out the way out, or your friends. To avoid redundancy and straight-forward runs, the escape route of the backrooms will periodically change once a party of a few players has escaped The following notification will print to chat in order to signify this event. Candy Collection Candy and Pumpkins will spawn across the map - these can be destroyed and collected in order to obtain limited-time collectibles. limited-time collectibles that will be announced this upcoming week (likely on the 21st) The Pumpkin Boss Spawning on intervals, the Pumpkin Boss will be spawning on the island out on the beach Defeat the boss with your group of friends and be rewarded with bonus candies An archive of past Halloween events (starting 2019) we have held within Garnet... This is almost solely an update in preparation of Halloween, when really cool content will start rolling out Server Performance Optimization Player-Perspective Around the fountain area, the FPS players run should be significantly improved with the help of some black magic (Chess) Server Perspective Re-wrote big portions of the day and night cycle, resolution in one of the biggest performance/FPS hogs of the server to run quickly and without affecting the server to a noticeable degree. With 128 players and a 22 tickrate, we now have a TON of extra headroom before we even stutter on occasions, let alone lag. Context Menu Extra additions have been thrown on Radio Volume Control May be utilized to turn down or entirely turn off the DJ radio on our server as to avoid disrupting your experience playing Cosmetics Rendering May be used to turn up or down the distance at which you will draw other players' cosmetics (pointshop items) - if you're a non-VIP member of our community with a bad PC, you will be given the option to turn off cosmetics entirely as to enjoy a higher FPS experience. If you're a pog VIP members who purchased 50k Premium Points over the last week alone as a result of autopay, you're free to turn up the slide as much as you'd like and enjoy seeing people's cosmetics from afar Deliveryman Class Brought up to the same standard other classes are QOL changes would be the classic Garnet DarkRP black box with a white border, and a display of your destination's name. Multiple other destinations have been added to the pool! Inventory System Fixed inconsistency where staff had 2 pages in their inventory, as opposed to a double-tall inventory with a singular page (that is what the UI looked like prior to the update) Physgunning Stoves and Weed Pots can now be physgunned by their drug manufacturing owners DJ Radio Increased the distance of the radio to nearly double the previous transmission range, meaning, you no longer have to snuggle up to your DJ buddy in order to hear his radio. But also, if this DJ isn't your buddy, he can now minge the piss out of your little base by blasting annoying tunes outside. Cyber's first hand in an update as SA :^) Players can now buy GL ammo and shipments from our unbox menu (UP FOR DEBATE) Prop Lighting I'm very much debating making it to where shadows casted by the map will no longer affect client props, leading to much more visibility to player builds, with the downside of.. in certain dark lighting, things may look awkward - as props are always lit. It was not at all a waste of time, i'd much rather have a short writeup than a simple "disagree" react where I have no idea why you feel the way you do (particularly in suggestions) The way you had described it is typically how it plays out on most servers, Timer > handcuff swep > drag player into your makeshift jail/holding cell > 5-15 minute timer (during which you ask for a ransom > release Where things go wrong is.. the player sitting in the base has absolutely NOTHING to do for the duration of being kidnapped, and there's no way out. Additionally, the handcuff swep is undefeatable, you just left click a lagging/afk/player buying perks or typing in chat. I just don't see a whole lot of good coming from it. Yes, there's the fun aspect of your friends can try and raid the kidnapper, but realistically, for a 5 minute wait, they won't even do that so I struggle to see a way this feature would be fun.
  12. @Jbhhsince you love being a nuisance and leaving disagree reacts with people who are against this awful idea (but provide no insight), I'd like to ask you, how do you propose the Kidnapping job will work without forcing people to AFK for 10 minutes while they're captured? not everybody is a "funny" and "engaging" kidnapper, and most will just hold you captive to minge. Lets get that discussion going so I can understand why you're the way you are on this issue. But who the fuck wants to be kidnapped, and just be forced to sit down and AFK? Who would it bring enjoyment to?

  14. Hello Garnetto members, I figured this is a big enough deal to make an update post over, considering we have not had a new SA figure on our DarkRP server in 4 years now. I really hope this message brings some joy and comfort to those of you who want to see the server change for the better, although I know some of you are punching the air right now ( @ChrisRid). Many of you have come to know and appreciate @stretchy/cyber sword/decay or whatever else fucking name he goes by as a well-respected member of our community, who absolutely loves our DarkRP server and tries to help it at every opportunity. After doing some thinking and battling my demons that tell me to never set anybody to be the SA of DarkRP, the demons lost and I've decided it's time to bump this guy up to the top of the staff ranking due to his dedication to making our server run smoothly, and showing interest in re-growing our community. Please everybody feel free to comment on this post in order to congratulate our new Super Admin, and I hope that moving forward with his assistance we can reach even greater heights for the DarkRP category, such as the possibility of opening another server which could either be EU based, or simply a full-blown "MODDED" DarkRP server to go against everything our current (Vanilla) server stands for I hope you all have a fantastic day -Nutter
  15. First time seeing this post, but the Halloween update was supposed to include this for all props by default, just because of how ugly prop shadows are lol

Again, the issue inherently with a kidnapping role is the fact that nobody (including myself) would ever want to sit in somebody's base and be forced into AFKing for however long (presumably 10 minutes, since 3-5 isn't long enough to warrant getting paid ransom), if I joined a server that enforced this, myself and many others would much rather disconnect. Think your ideas through please and suggest an actual fun to play role for both sides.

Halloween is upon us, and so is my very first collection to offer our community Be online for tonights event, as the moment we crack 70 pop a free halloween crate token will be given out to all online members, the items you get from this crate will only be available throughout halloween, not to be returned to the server at any other time! The crafting of Halloween crates will be available in the next few days, and so will our long-awaited Anaxes V2 - planned for this Friday! Finally, I had spent the last few nights severely optimizing the server, specifically for the case of NPC-heavy events, and was able to provide an INSANE 50-60% increase in FPS for all players, if not more.   22. I would agree, but in the grand scheme of things, we have a literal 10 players interacting with this post. If it were the majority of our population (lets say even 40 players responding) i'd most definitely consider putting it on sooner.

I understand your perspective from a players point of view, with that being said, I’ve been here around long enough to know it’d be a temporary boost, and releasing it 2 weeks early would kill off the bigger excitement sorrounding new features that are coming up. Server population is a bit troubling, but it seems to mostly revolve around the fact that the only two executives who gave a crap for maintaining the server were Proggy and Cyber, proggy resigned, and Cyber is currently gone. Not even 2 weeks ago we were bouncing 80-120.
