1 hour ago, EducationalSkeleton said:-Just use warnings, which are better documentation of a player's recent behavior anyways and serve as more of a deterrent due to their ability to increase ban time
I do agree with this actually, warns stay on record for a couple of weeks and if a player repeatedly breaks rules, they will eventually get banned for exceeding the warn limit. This has the added benefit of keeping track of repeated rule-breakers when different staff members are online and perhaps don't know about previous reports that have taken place.
However, there are some good reasons to jail someone instead. For example, I have taken reports where a player is just a little worked up about something, and taking 5 mins to chill (being jailed) does a better job at preventing revenge on the reporter then a warn would. For a good player who generally follows the rules, being jailed by spawn is a bit embarrassing and similarly does a better job at preventing further issues. Or for the more professional minges, if there's someone that's genuinely and very obviously attempting to mass RDM but have only killed 2 people so far, a 12 minute jail isn't generally something they want to wait out so they tend to LTAP after a minute or two in the clink, which allows us to go ahead and ban them for RDM & LTAP before they even got their 3rd kill in
So while I agree that warns do a great job at keeping track of behaviour, jailing does have it's place.
I would however see a good argument for warns to always be given alongside jailing. As it stands, this is possible when someone breaks two different rules. -
Neat idea with the prefix, it's nice for new players to know who's staffing on the server and hopefully it'll show a fantastic presence from the team. I'm hyped that the events are back too! We had a great time before and it will certainly boost the activity during low-pop times!
Awesome update!

Hope to catch you around when you have some spare time
All the best in the meantime mate!

Hey everybody, I wanted to thank you guys so much. I will go through each comment and message some of you personally in the next upcoming days, but here is the latest update on Dude from the ER
Me and my girlfriend were up waiting until the call came by at 4:30AM saying the operation went by successfully. His body temperature was still extremely low, but he's stabilizing now.
Good morning,
I am your Client X, and I will be your point of contact today until 4pm.
The attending doctor overseeing Dude's care today is X, who will be your doctor until the next shift change.
Our team knows how much you miss Dude. He is resting comfortably on continued IV fluids and pain management. That's truly awesome news! He's definitely in good hands with the right people
Keeping my fingers crossed that Dude pulls through this like a champion

Yea, I think this makes a lot of sense actually and I love the idea! Better yet, what if you obtained the hat by simply playing on the SWRP server? If that’s possible then I think that would be great. Perhaps also for MRP and TTT too?

You have a genuinely fantastic application, however I can’t give you a +1 until you’ve read the staff rules. Have a good read through them, edit your post as required and I’ll keep an eye out to edit my response once you’ve done so

Well done to everyone who’s helped make the server awesome through your hard work and commitment, it’s fantastic to see the server we all love move high up in the rankings!
A big congratulations to our MVP’s @Wendoly and @Chawheadfor your massive sit counts, top work guys!
For those who perhaps didn’t quite meet the mark, don’t worry, the start of a new month brings new possibilities so let’s get back in there! It takes time to learn and progress, and making mistakes is just a part of your onward journey as long as we learn from them. Don’t be disheartened.
I’m hoping that this month I’ll be around a bit more, it’s been super busy (work-wise) but things are beginning to become more stable finally! Can’t wait to have a laugh with you all!
Here’s to another month, cheers

Really sorry to hear this news mate, but stay strong and hopeful, you’re doing what’s best for him. I’m hoping he’ll make a fast recovery

As mentioned by others, the Adv. Dupe isn't pay-to-win, it just provides convenience. In fact I'd actually recommend that new players spend some time building bases and gradually improving, as it's quite an important learning process, while having the added benefit of encouraging exploration of the map and trying out new ideas. Regardless, the Adv. Dupe isn't a necessity and donating helps support the server financially. If you can't afford to buy VIP yourself, then as Shank said you could always trade with someone in-game (they buy you VIP for x-amount of RP cash) which is quite a common way of getting it actually

Awesome idea, I had no idea it didn’t go into the vault already to be honest, and it makes sense that it should.
I think Shank made great points too, from the PD’s perspective bailing is a good thing rather than a bad thing as they benefit from the money going into the vault (with them getting a share). Plus it also incentivises additional people to want to play as PD when they see that people are getting bailed, while also encouraging people to raid the PD vault.
Great idea!

While I don’t mind the idea of some balancing, like perhaps changing keypads to crack in 7 seconds instead of 10, I’m strongly against keeping fading doors open for several minutes, or adding a damage buff while cracking keypads.
As a baser myself, I have (when I had more time on my hands) spent a ton of time on the server basing / farming. If it was too easy for someone to raid me then I probably wouldn’t have spent anywhere near as much time as I have done, given a good 40% of my time is made up of farming. Conversely, there’s an abundance of raiders who might hop on for an hour or two at most to raid. The trade off isn’t ideal in that sense.
There will always be plenty of raiders, but the big-time farmers are in short supply these days it seems.

While I like the idea of the vault filling up more quickly as a larger reward for raiding it, my concern is that if the vault DID get raided then I feel it's likely that police would change job given they would need to wait a long time for the vault to fill back up again. On the other hand, it does seem like a good idea to evenly split the surplus once it's been filled as a greater reward for their time served. I'm just thinking out-loud but I'll stay neutral for now.

Awesome update! Genuinely over the moon that you've added duration support for /gag and /mute, in the past when there's been a group of minges I've literally been writing down the times I've muted them at, so I can fairly and equally un-mute them individually at 3 / 5 / 10 min intervals, so this alone is great. Love the other commands and fixes though, the 'oopsie ban' especially is brilliant lmao

I like the reasons that you've given for wating to join the staff team, and from what you've said you have some good qualities that would be beneficial when staffing on the server. I haven't had the chance to meet you, but with a number of referrals from current staff members it's clear that you have the support of the community. I see you also have a clean record (no prior bans) which shows that you're of a good character which I believe is essential, as staff members should lead by example. The only thing that I would say is that a commitment of 10-12 hours daily may prove to burn you out pretty quickly! The enthusiasm is fantastic, but try to take plenty of breaks and ensure you maintain a good balance between staffing and living the rest of your life. Keep us updated on the F150 engine swap by the way, that sounds awesome! I wish you the best of luck

With how sensitive people could be, this ain’t gonna work out well in my eyes no matter if it’s fun and games.
I don't think a fat player model is that deeply offensive, it's DarkRP after all
There's far worse to be worried about
I stand by my +1, I like the idea but with the suggested rules (no basing, limit players to 1) nothing that's not already in effect with some other classes. Even if 1000HP is excessive, it would still be a laugh at a mild HP boost with reduced speed. Raiders have been asking for increased ability to raid for a while, and I think this would not only offer that but also be a good laugh in general

I'd like to provide the following information for the benefit of the admin who deals with this staff report and because it's related to the situation. I won't handle this myself, as I'm already involved by way of the initial appeal.
InternetFunnyMan reached out to me following that appeal which I denied and I have given the following information, in case it wasn't clear initially. I hoped that this would help make things clear:

Ban Appeal

DENIED
Having reviewed the evidence, it's clear that you had completely and deliberately blocked both of the tunnels with multiple props. It's also clear from the evidence that the admin had asked you to remove the props before they banned you, giving you an opportunity to put things right if you didn't understand.
Your ban will remain.

The admin who placed the ban will need to show evidence, in this case I've tagged @ajbedhead as he entered the ban. You don't need to provide any evidence unless there's anything you feel might be useful.

I really like the idea of a 'tank' being a member of a raid party, someone with high-health but slow moving as you say to give a fair trade off. This could add a whole new dynamic to the strategy of raiding and it would certainly be a laugh. I would however say that it might be best to limit the number of players who can play as the 'tank' to 1, just for the sake of the logs. I would also recommend adding a rule to say they cannot base, as the idea would be to help assist the raid party in actually raiding, rather than to sit and defend their own base.

Solid update which will keep things running smoothy and fairly
Cheers

This is a genuinely outstanding application! That's not to mention your previous experiences, a referral from Proggy, clean record, tons of hours, plus the good things I've heard of you from others. I'm looking forward to meeting you sometime and wish you the very best of luck!

I’m sorry @NutterI tend to love most of your suggestions, and I hate to walk against the trend and be a party-pooper but please hear me out, I’ll be constructive:
The main reason for camping to defend printers is to prevent the initial loss of investment (printer upgrade costs). A fully upgraded printer takes approximately an hour to recoup the invested funds (max upgrades), after which, all is profit. When that cost is multiplied (through having bought many printers off others) the initial investment can reach into the millions. So with that in mind, the longer you farm without being raided, the better the net profit; for example it takes at least 2 hours to double your investment and given the next hour is all profit again, it’s difficult to resist.
Then take into account the convenience cost, that being the will to wait out the 2 hours (if printers are raided and claimed) to then place down another set of printers with the risk of loss of initial investment. How likely is it that an avid farmer will accept this non-monetary cost? That’s without mentioning if bought-printers are then actually available to be replaced once lost.
To be bluntly honest, these two factors make up the majority of the reason that people camp while farming. If these factors were mitigated, then the loss would be negligible and there would be no need to constantly defend a base. In other words, I think the suggestion won’t lead to the outcome that (I guess we all) want in relation to your suggestion.
I think I actually said to Proggy some time ago that I wish printers could be held at ransom during a raid, because I’d be happy to pay a fair sum of money for printers to be safely left alone then to have to set up again, even if it costs as much at the printer makes in an hour. In fairness he did say (and I’m paraphrasing) “why not just re-buy them then if you’re willing to pay the full investment cost?” Which is a fair statement, but that doesn’t include the non-monetary setup cost of being willing to place them all back down and contact those who you’ve bought them from to do the same, if they are free.
Like I say, I hate being a party pooper and I know I’ll get hate for -1’ing your suggestion, even potentially from you. But I’m just giving realistic feedback from an avid farmer myself. I wouldn’t be upset if you added this, and I’m sure some people may love the idea, but from my personal perspective I respectfully don’t think it will change a lot. Sorry guys.

You could always do /roll which gives 1-100, so 1-50 or 51-100 for a coin toss
Ahh crap, I mean I know everyone will love this for sure but vanilla DarkRP to me is the one. It was going to happen one day I guess
