  1. Everything about the process of joining a faction is up to its leader. Based on the understanding given to me by the presiding superadmin, I want you to think about it like this; You're not joining a faction, you're joining a friend group. The leader can alter their tryouts on the spot or not do one at all if they want you in. If they don't, well good luck. If they don't like you, or know anything about you, they're going to make it significantly harder to get in, in which case you have to prove how valuable you are. I think it's not a good system too, but there's no use in complaining about it. Take your talents elsewhere if you're 'clapping' all these SOC guys.
  2. Wonderful, let's break down each one. Hot take. The 'hitbox' in gmod, especially this server, is a lot better than you think. The server gets put under the most stress during war with all the things happening and can cause the perceived hit registration to drop a little. That being said, the perceived hitreg outside of war, during these sims you seem to have such a problem with tends to be a lot better. There's no contest in arguing that sims aren't skill based. Any server-hopping skid can answer a few questions and follow orders, but SOC groups aren't for anybody. I think you might have just had a bad experience. It's a pretty poor assumption to assume that the de facto best person in the faction. If you know anything about the history of certain factions, this is far from the truth. When you're trying to gauge the skill of a player, one sim is often not nearly enough. Yeah sure, it's pretty to uncommon to see a SOC do more than one tryout in a given day. Rank requirements can be set by a faction leader, but since everybody right now thinks that the health of a faction is determined by their numbers, it's gonna be pretty rare to see. Don't quite understand the whole leader thing still, so refer to my previous points. JRSGT? Also, in-game rank is pretty worthless when it comes to an RP aspect like joining a faction. This isn't the type of server where players will ever be forcibly restricted to the amount of factions they join. It's pretty rare to see a player hold an active rank in multiple SOC factions anyways, so there's no real need to regulate this. Basically, your suggestion boils down to 'I don't want to 1v1 a faction leader because I think that's unfair and sims are bullshit', which is a poor case to make on the Public Forums that Most Faction Leaders actively read. To reiterate, get gud. Also, rules:
  3. I actually talked to a certain unnamed someone about the way SOC tryouts work now and how skill-oriented the SOC tryouts are right now. Lot of uninspired tryouts and everything comes off very samey in some sense. Someone every now and then will try something 'no one has ever done before' but it usually turns out to be some mediocre nonsense. I don't really like it, but I'm not really in the position to do anything about it outside of the faction I'm active in, which I am doing something about it. That being said, get gud.
  4. Bless. If you don't mind me asking out of curiosity, what's the tickrate currently at? Forgot to add about textscreen stuff; Don't know if it's already in there, but stuff about TS and forums, simple disclaimers about important rules and a big sign that says Be Patient.
  5. I like making people have to communicate, even the mutes. -1
  6. Instead of just making them super accurate at close range, have it function as a high damage at close range as well, with a huge damage drop off at range. Most handguns are pretty much worthless at anything over 50m anyways. In terms of making sidearms more useful, keeping the damage how it is, no matter how accurate, isn't going to stop a bhopping ghillie with an AEK from being the more viable option in CQC. My two cents.

  10. Well, it was just another one of those things I started and Ethan took way too far.
  11. Jokes aside, this isn't a shitpost, so don't shitpost on it. If you're confused as to what this is, this is a thread to establish a character in RP, this is something SSO and most of RU used to do in the Volkov era.
  12. Name: Samson Rockwell. Birthplace: Reading, Pennsylvania. Birth Date: April 21th, 1991. Division of Service: 18E E-5, Army Special Forces. Subdivision: 5th Special Forces Group, CENTCOM. Background: Samson Rockwell was born in the small locale of Reading, Pennsylvania on April 20th, 1991 to parents Lucas and Marie Rockwell. The elder Rockwell's owned and operated a local diner as their primary source of income. Samson grew up in a both quiet and pleasant environment and got all the way through high school with few significant occurrences in his life. Upon graduating high school in 2007, Samson immediately made plans to enlist in the United States Army at the ripe age of 18 years old. Rockwell then kissed his parents goodbye, and was subsequently shipped off to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he would receive his basic training and become a Private in the United States Army, as well as an 11B. Rockwell's first deployment would take him to the Middle East to assist in Operation Enduring Freedom until 2012 when he was given the opportunity to return home. During Rockwell's first tour, he received the rank of Corporal in the Army for his performance on the front. While back Stateside, Rockwell completed his qualifications for Q-Course and later became a member of Army Special Forces. Rockwell was assigned to the 5thSFG and deployed to Fort Campbell, Kentucky just in time for his second tour. During his time training at Fort Campbell, Rockwell became a specialist in Foreign Internal Defense and communications, earning himself the 18E MOS and the rank of Sergeant. Other Notes: Likes Bourbon, Ham Radios. Dislikes running, messy food. AB+ Blood, horribly allergic to shellfish.
  13. This is gonna be a quick one. The factions and regiments forums is kind of messy right now. The two country subforums are both out of order, and there's no faction categorization, so everything is just kinda splattered about. Open up the US/RU subforums, add a subforum for each faction, easy peasy. Thanks.
  14. If you got something to say fup, say if with a MIC.
  15. Not everyone on this community is going to be your friend cowboy. If you're going to constantly sink down to the level of anyone who gives you shit, how do you think we're going to expect you to act in a sit? -1
  16. Sick update. Boys were praying for a few extra frames. Bless up
  17. Overhaul is my word, imposters.
  18. Considering some recent statements, I think the capture zones were set up deliberately with the intention to slowing down the pace of combat. Because you can't just rush in, sit in a corner and cap the point for Embassy and especially Boardwalk, if forces both the player and the team to organize their pushes a little bit. No ninja-defusals in this town.

    US Overhaul

Alright awesome, few GA's and a veteran army main. I have a nice track record of trying to do something about Army's shit and always getting bitched at for it but no pain no gain I guess? Here's my thing. For as long as I can remember, excluding Shephard's term(s), Army has been shit, or damn near close to it. No if's, and's, or but's, I don't wanna hear it. That being said, we gotta do something about that. If the most basic of base factions can't figure out which way is up, there's gotta be a problem at the structural level. That's what I'm trying to solve. Gildarts is saying he's tried to merge 75R and Army before and believe me I know what happened, I was there, but here I am suggesting we do it again. Why? Because it wasn't done right the first time because there was a lot of (go figure) bitching and moaning from the active Rangers at the time about losing their positions and or forfeiting power to the base faction. I shouldn't have to argue for the possibility of it working because the perfect case study already exists (see: my entire thread). Just do it how it should've been done from the start, fuck everyone else, and never have to worry about this recurring issue ever again.
  20. That's the point of the thread GILTARD. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_1851_Navy_Revolver https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Python https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p226-legion-full-size.html

    GRU Overhaul

So for everyone unfamiliar with what happens when a faction gets nuked, usually it's standard operating procedure to bitch and moan for a few days before realizing that you have to remove somethings before adding others. The recent cut-down-and-compile threads have been aimed at doing exactly that. Once certain fairly useless things are eliminated, we can clear the way for bigger and better things. Not a big deal. If you really don't understand, or are upset by me calling GRU 'useless', feel free to PM me, I can have it make a lot more sense.
