  1. Although some of the events could use a bit more detail the premise of them is good and you are such a joy from my experiences in game. I would love to see what you could do and how you’d add on to the players experience +1

  2. Neutral Here’s my big issue with this, and I think we need to put our shoes into the player. I’m a relatively new player joining the server, I I work my way up the levels, and I all of a sudden start basing. After printing for a little bit I all of a sudden get blasted with an RPG with no real knowledge of how to counter it or expert building like some other players. I’m pissed off and there’s really nothing else I wanna do so I decide to leave the server. All of a sudden, that person is slapped with a three day ban? It only three days, but it’s a ban that will probably happen quite often, it’s a player that will not want to join back on the server because they think 1. Rules are harsh 2. Asshole Staff members 3. They feel like they’re being forced to be an expert builder 4. There’s a lot of other servers I could join, let’s give this one a try. I also think there is a solution instead of just a ban, why not make it your prop disappear but your printer doesn’t disappear for about a minute? The raider is able to claim it for the 2 hours or however long it is, the only thing that needs to be prevented is abuse from players, leaving and rejoining constantly so someone could claim there printer for them. My issue is I don’t want to see Ban happy moderators turning the players who are less experienced than others away from the server or building in general. This rule should really only be targeted towards people that are basically pretty high level

  3. It should be a separate punishment that's more severe then failrp + ltap as leaving to avoid a raid or to stop your printers from being taken is a lot more of a severe crime then just generic failrp, such as running into spawn to avoid a hit, then leaving the game which is just failrp + ltap. This is where I disagree and think this could use some work. FailRP is when someone is known to be punished and decides to leave the game in attempt to try to avoid it. That's when a FailRP is escalated to FailRP+LTAP. FailRP+LTAP is already at a 1 day ban, which is not very severe but still a measurable ban coming from a Warn w/4-6 minute jail. Now we get into Raid Logging. Nobody likes Raid logging, it's the worst part of DarkRP, and I think anyone who's pulled off a raid has had this happen to them. It's not fun to pull off a raid, the player leaves, and you have nothing to show for your sweet success. However, I don't think we should be enforcing a ban more severe than 1 day for somebody who leaves the game because they're defeated. No Intent to RP? Well, that case could be made. They had no intent to roleplay losing defending a base, or otherwise were mad enough that they left the game. However, this would be difficult to implement. Sure, the logs show that someone was raided, and that they died, and then that they disconnected - but is there any way to prove that the person actually left to avoid their printers being stolen? Even a video of you raiding the base, killing someone, and then they leave the server would be a bit iffy if you didn't know if they even had printers or anything valuable inside. I think if we're honest about this and how we'd proceed with actually punishing this, it's clear that this is not something the staff team has in the past ever wanted to deal with and not something to easily define a rule around. Say I'm a player, I join, I get raided. Am I now supposed to remain on the server for 5 minutes after I was killed in the raid before I'm allowed to play something else? 10 minutes? Am I held hostage now in the GarnetGaming server as someone milks my printers? Am I only required to stay until someone decides to claim my prints (taking up to 10 minutes on their raid as allowed)? I think the community mostly agrees that it'd be nice to have a rule in place to either prevent or at least punish and curb this behavior from continuing. But I don't see a good suggestion on what the actual rule is, or any punishment that I can agree would be fair for the crime of leaving the server after you lost. Really, the best way in my opinion would be to have someone's entities remain on the server for ~2 minutes after they disconnect, giving anyone a chance to fight over remaining printers, get some claims in, etc. This would prevent there needing to be a rule followed or any stricter guidelines placed on players that won't get followed or consistently enforced anyways. But since I don't know how hard this would be to implement or any exploitation risks involved, I'll just leave my wall of text here for the next person bored enough to read my thoughts. Until the community can come up with a fair: Rule for this scenario and Punishment for this scenario, for this I will remain Neutral.

  4. In-game name: SGN-H ENG MSG 9995 Cryo | Jedi Initiate Lor'olki Songsteel Age: 17 (18 on April 19th 2024) SteamID (https://steamid.io/): 76561199229690250 (SteamID 64) STEAM_0:0:634712261 (SteamID) Warns: 0 Timezone: Eastern Standard Time Zone Playtime?: 213:53:29 Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: [YES/NO] Yes. Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?:[YES/NO] Yes. Referral(s): [What administrator recommended you to apply?] None. Past experiences as a Game Master: [Optional] I was a game master for Icefuse Star Wars Clone Wars RP for a brief period, as well as on the staff team as a Senior Moderator Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] The reason that I should be chosen by other applicants is varied. Not only am I a former Gamemaster (GM from here on in this application) but I also have a large understanding of Star Wars: The Clone Wars lore both legend and canon. I often spend time researching events from both sources of the clone wars and always made sure my past events were well planned, coherently thought out, and devised in a way so that 88% of people could perform some duty related to their unique skills when the situation called for it. Unfortunately my time on Icefuse was short and I never became a full GM mostly because I took an extended LOA and then was removed from the GM/Staff team due to my resignation from the server which was brought on by an unfortunate series of events in real life. Nonetheless, my passive events and rp focused events continued to make strides in the time I was there. Ranging from medically certed members needing to make an emergency pit stop to heal numerous wounded soldiers amidst a battlefield. All the way to having soldiers finding Jedi/Sith artifacts and having to handle that accordingly in a Sand Crawler Jawa trading hub on Tatooine. I have hosted events involving wild mongrels breaching the Felucia base, as well as a highly contagious virus breaking out among the soldiers, leaving the base to be attacked freely by the CIS as it was relatively undefended and the airborne disease had no effect on droids. One event included the soldiers having to take up the mantle and rebuild/instruct new clone cadets on Kamino after a terrifyingly long and hard battle. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details Yes. Unfortunately I was banned on the Icefuse server around 6/11/23 through 7/11/23 for "ERP". However, I appealed the ban and the appeal was approved. I only spent maybe a day or two actually banned as the ERP claim was falsed. (I had video evidence showing that I had not committed ERP.) How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: I am a 17 year old adolescent who is turning 18 in April, and then graduating sometime in May. This does mean that I will be working relatively full time after graduation, and I may have to go on ROA/LOA temporarily during the finale of my Senior year of High School. In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: The responsibilities of the GM(s) is to provide fun, engaging, lore friendly events and projects. They are to uphold a quota (presumably) and must maintain activity. They need to be able to create events and improvise when they are in the middle of them if things change or are not readily available. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: I would contribute to RP as part of the GM team by hosting events that revolve around a specific or multiple Batt’s specialties and really make sure they can each work to the best of their abilities for their roles in the Republic. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: My single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment would be to host events for Specific Batt’s, this may be unachievable due to us only having one server and wanting people to be able to attend events but I have a solution. As we have cert specific roleplay events I believe whole-heartedly it should be the same for Battalions. They don’t have to be when the Off-Worlds happen or when the On-Worlds happen either, they could be in between these major daily events. It seems to me that this would help with people complaining that their Batt never gets to exercise their specialties in off worlds or on worlds because they’re forced to just sit around and play click simulator while other groups do all the actual roleplay and fun stuff. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] Rescue Mission on Ryloth: The Separatists have captured a group of Twi'lek hostages on Ryloth. Players must coordinate a rescue mission, infiltrating the Separatist base and freeing the hostages while dealing with enemy forces. Battle of Umbara: Players are divided into two teams, to reenact the intense battle on Umbara. Each team must strategize and execute their plans to secure victory, with various objectives and challenges along the way. Fighting the Umbarans and potentially eachother under the guise of fighting "Umbarans". Clones Gone Rogue: A group of clone troopers has gone rogue and taken refuge in an abandoned facility on a remote planet. Players must form a task force to track down and apprehend the rogue clones, facing challenges such as traps and ambushes along the way. The Battle for Christophsis: Republic forces are attempting to retake the planet Christophsis from Separatist control. Participating in a series of engagements to secure key strategic points and turn the tide of the battle. The Hunt for a War Criminal: A notorious Separatist war criminal is rumored to be hiding on a lawless planet in the Outer Rim. Players must gather intelligence, track down the criminal, and either capture or eliminate them, navigating through the planet's dangerous underworld and facing off against local gangs and mercenaries.

  5. +1 As Johnny stated, maybe add some detail to the event. Other than that you'd be a great new addition!

  6. Neutral I think Shank and Gunner summarise my position on this actually, and they've made some decent points in my opinion. Just a couple of things I saw others mention which I thought would be worth touching-base on: If you click 'Disconnect' then you disconnect immediately. But if you were to just unplug your PC, your player and entities hang-around for a few mins from my experiences. I would argue that LTAP (Leaving to avoid punishment) doesn't apply in this scenario. It's certainly FailRP without a doubt, but the FailRP was leaving in-itself. You would have to rejoin, be brought to a sit, then leave a second time knowing that you'd been reported, for it to be LTAP in my eyes. Even No Intent to Roleplay (NITRP) isn't a good fit for this given that it's for when multiple different rules are broken, as opposed to one just one instance - you could otherwise argue breaking the vast majority of single rules is NITRP, so it's best to keep it separate I think there's a couple of options that would work best: Make a new rule specifically for 'Intentionally disconnecting during an RP scenario' which would also apply to mugs, being arrested, and a whole host of other things too. I'd add that this should not be overly harsh (must be proportional) and should not be up to staff discretion, as over time ban lengths exponentially increase when left unchecked (I think the average first-time racism ban is now like 5 consecutive life sentences when it actually started at a discretionary 2 week ban with typically a verbal warning first). Perhaps a system of incremental increases, by number the of previous bans, as a better solution? Shank's idea of delaying the de-spawn of entities for 5-10 mins after you disconnect would be a good solution, by eliminating the root-issue without the need for another rule and associated moderation

  7. Staff members are ban happy, I don’t want it to come down to “mod discretion” it should be a rule for higher level or shouldn’t a rule at all. we shouldn’t ban lesser level players because they wanna leave the game after getting there shit rocked by some dude outside there with a rpg,

  10. -1, re: Chawhead, also IIRC, Leaving & Rejoining to avoid a raid is already punishable. I recall an older rule saying something along the lines of: "You have to wait at least 30 minutes to rejoin if you leave during a raid" or something, which makes it FailRP. If this is an already existing rule, we don't need need a rule addition. I can't find anything that backs this up on the rules on the forums, but I swear up and down that this rule exists or existed at some point in time.

  11. -1 that would be way too much to add to the server making it have more download time and not so much a vanilla server. Plus, it makes no sense to add that to the server. pirates maybe since there might be a sailor class but the British vs Americans doesn't fit the server, might as well make a server called 1812 and add those. Also, you have no strong reasoning supporting why this should be added.

When it comes to DarkRP, this is the only server I've played on. So I won't get rules from other servers mixed up with Garnet's rules. My playtime should speak for itself. Anyone with as much playtime as me probably has a good understanding of all the rules. I play even at early morning or late night hours when there isn't much staff on. I'm often mistaken for staff sometimes and usually told I should be staff when I say I'm just VIP. I also have played all the jobs in the server just to know all the rules each job needs to follow. Raiding is one of my favorite aspects of the game, and over the countless raids I've been a part of I can quickly identify a failbase, as well as what situations would qualify as failrp, rdm, rda, and so forth. I've used TeamSpeak/Discord for years, even owning my own server for a while. I'm familiar with recording/editing software, personally using OBS (recording) & HitFilm (editing). I monitor the forums recently and reply to threads where I feel my input is helpful. I really just want to make the Garnet DarkRP server a better place. Other staff have been begging me to apply; Probably because the hours I put in and they trust my understanding of the rules. I've RP'd around town and built a ton of friendly relationships only clashing with very few players around the community. I go out of my way to help newer players when I can tell they need it, because I remember a few months back being in their shoes. To minimize bias I wont take a homies sit unless I have to, and I'll dish out fair punishments regardless. I'd like to reduce the time it takes between a player issuing a report and their sit being resolved, or get that prop-block in spawn or your base cleared out quicker. Assuming this app gets accepted, I look forward to taking your sits! Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details: I was banned on Garnet once before when I first started because I was unaware of the rules I broke. I was false raided by a spartan that was prop-climbing, and I guess there was a sit after I logged out and was banned for NLR LTAP. This was a long time ago and I haven't been guilty of anything serious since then. Have you made any previous applications, If so when?: No How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: I play 4-10+ hours a day. I'm sure a good portion of my total playtime would go to doing staff obligations. If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod? I'm a guitarist of 15+ years, IT professional, as well as a competitor/streamer for a game called Rivals of Aether.Did you read the staff rules?: proggy DaB

  23. Yea but the punishment for FailRP and LTAP is not sufficient to deter the act of doing such thing. I'm saying that making a separate more severe rule to be punished for breaking would better deter doing such thing. It would involve something like a 2-3 day ban or something like that. Just slightly above the punishment for FailRP + LTAP. Somebody who has several printer accounts does not care about a 1 day ban whatsoever as they will pick back up the very next day.

  25. +Rep Usually, unless mom says it's time to get off of the computer or you're having a dire emergency (which I don't see why you wouldn't leave your game open anyways, unless there was a natural disaster), it might be the case of an LTARD. Leaving To Avoid Red Dragon, also known as GG Code of the Life Momentum bill, 339-B. It's been decided in the courts that a pump action shotgun cannot be used to be played Imagine Dragons in front of the court house. Sorry, that's code Green Dragon, 339-A.
