  1. Hello Friends! I'd like to say a huge thank you to @Chawhead, @ChrisRid, @ajbedhead, Cybersword and last but not least @xFishfor all the assistance and support during my (very) short tenure. I'm not going to go deep into specifics. Sometimes things just aren't meant and I'd much prefer to be on the other side for now. I hope everyone that I've helped feels like I cared. I can honestly say that I gave my absolute fullest effort to those that needed help that were new, and tried to remain unbiased for those that are regulars. While I'm not quitting the server fully, I will be a lot less active. @Proggy, @Nutter - If you'd like some feedback, let me know via discord or PM here. See you in game like always. - Strongside

  2. Helping pop in the early mornings is about the only reason I considered allowing alting, and the fact that all our competitors seem to be doing so to heavily bot their way up the charts. Your comment of "You brought that upon yourself" is incredibly stupid. I allowed people to bring their alts to get printers if they choose to do so, I had never allowed them to use this in order to sell said printed money for real currency. If you want stuff to do with in-game money, maybe be useful and post a suggestion? OH OOPS - you've never went out of your way to try and bring new ideas about, just complaining. You guys are actively destroying this server and ruining the economy for regular players, by reaching unrealistic wallet amounts. While this will still not be actively moderated, because frankly, neither me or @Proggy want to deal with the hassle, just know you're viewed as nothing by a rodent who's hurting the server for their own financial benefit.

  3. Description: Make using alt accounts against the rules. Reasoning: So many people on the server use alt accounts to farm 20+ printers at a time. This causes a high pop that consists of mostly citizens which makes the server look bad, in my opinion. On top of that, the high pop on the server means that each player has less props, usually I'm fine with that as I feel it makes a lot of sense. However, when 10-25% of the players on the server aren't even real, those props that are being accounted for in the prop limit are completely wasted. Besides the issues that come up when it comes to server population, the level of unfairness in terms of makingmoney on the server is unreal. While utilizing one account's printers you can make approximately $200k an hour, however some players who have 10 alts or more can make $2mill an hour, or even more depending on how many alts are being used. The fact that this isn't already considered exploiting is beyond me. Maybe I'm being naive in believing that this is an issue that's even solvable, but since we can see who's using alt accounts to ban evade I would assume we'd be able to see who's using alt accounts for farming purposes. This is an issue that's been well known within the server since before I started playing and it's something that has been considered completely acceptable for reasons that I cannot understand. It has created a completely unfair environment where the economy and leveling system is easily exploited, prop limit is being completely wasted on accounts that aren't even playing, and it's a bad look for the server overall. Additional Information: While I believe that utilizing alts in any way should be banned I'm willing to accept that many players, I'm sure, would disagree. I think a compromise would be to set a limit on the number of alts a player can use, doing so would lessen the impact that alt accounts are having on the server pretty significantly. I wont name names but the fact that some players are using 10-15 alts at a time should be considered exploiting and unacceptable overkill. I'm sure that many players are going to disagree with me but I felt like throwing this on the forums to see how others felt.

  5. Dear Members of the Garnet Gaming community, We understand that recently, our gaming servers have experienced some challenges due to host-related issues caused by DDoS attacks and general changes by said host without our consent. This has led to many crashes and unsatisfactory performance, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused. On the contrary, we are happy to announce that we have acted proactively upon this situation and decided to switch to a new provider that is dedicated to providing a secure and stable gaming environment for you all. This change will greatly improve the overall quality of our servers and eliminate the issues that we have been facing for these past 3-4 days. Furthermore, we should also see some better server performance as all our machines are being upgraded to more recent hardware that can withhold higher populations. Myself and @Proggy have spent an obscene amount of hours (working until 5:30AM in instances like today) to ensure this change goes smoothly. As of right now, the scheduling of our migration to the new hosting service is looking like so: Rust > 2nd week of February 2023 Garry's Mod > 2nd week of February 2023 OR SOONER SQL databases > 3rd week of February 2023 OR SOONER Web Hosting > 4th week of February 2023 OR SOONER We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition, and please make sure to stay tuned to any IP changes coming up this following week! Best regards, Garnet!

  7. +1 - Eli is genuinely one of the most committed team members you can have, specifically one of the few that would care and put genuine effort into the server he is apart of. The events listed as examples are practical for the server and practical for a single gamemaster to complete, all while maintaining a good mix of combat and roleplay. Simply put, Eli is more than competent for this role; on top of possessing relevant experience (with a good track record of success in the role). Good Luck.

  10. There's a problem, they are just willing to make sacrifices to falsely inflate server pop It's literally cheating. We can't have one partially denied suggestion that highlights how bots/alts actively hurt the server and then pretend on this one that they are completely fine It's literally cheating. We can't have one partially denied suggestion that highlights how bots/alts actively hurt the server and then pretend on this one that they are completely fine. If we are honest with ourselves, the only reason besides server pop inflation that it is allowed is because if it became banned they'd end up having to ban a large percentage of top players and staff.

  11. Partially Denied We don't encourage any players to do trading deals with in-game money for real-world items or money. Taking part in these deals puts yourself at risk of putting your personal information out there, as well as scams. Scamming and doxing is 100% against our rules and always has been. The main issue here is a matter of enforcement. For most of these IRL deals we have no way of tracking what took place. The best we can do is enforce people to not advertise these trades in ooc/adverts. Beyond that, enforcement of this would just be players ratting on each other and baiting punishments. Going forward we will mute and warn people for advertising real-world trading in ooc/adverts. Any deals privately worked between people is between them, and both parties are operating at their own risk. If conclusive evidence is brought to administration that a user is outright scamming peoples real money or exposing personal information, they will be permanently banned as always.

Referral(s): Mash Past experiences as staff: No Why should we choose you over other applicants? I'm on here to have fun, and hope to help keep the server that way for everyone. It's DarkRP and we're all here to be criminals and break laws, but we have to all work together to keep it in check. I've been working with my friends to do little community events to teach and give noobs a foot up, and think being a moderator could help me in my goals. We've done noob learning centers, community banks, and have just started bringing noobs into our little ACAB family. In my prior career in the medical field, I've held positions as an administrator and had the role of mediating between my employees and also my residents/patients, while being unbias. I've worked direct care in a psycho-social behavior rehab where the residents are all mentally ill and have anger/drug problems and have even killed people, so I have a familiarity dealing with people of all types of personalities. My job experience in real life has helped me learn a lot about de-escalating, mediating, and using discretion which I can apply during sits. I really enjoy the little things on the server and want to help keep players around to be a part of them. I have been on this server for many years on and off, and I think I have established myself as a good member of the community. I've interacted with most people who are around a lot, and haven't had many negative interactions. I think it shows I have a good attitude, and can treat everyone fairly. I've talked with many of the staff already and think I would integrate smoothly. In the past I have had the chance to watch some sits, I've read over all the staff rules/training links/D3A and know the server rules pretty well. I'm confidant with some training I could moderate well. I have also had a server of my own in the past just to play around with LUAs and have my own sandbox with friends. It never had any players really but I learned a lot about using gprotect and other things as a sadmin. In all I believe I could be a productive member of staff and would enjoy being a bigger part of the community. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details: I've been jailed once or twice, but I don't remember specifics. I have a ban from 2 years ago, I never contested in forum. None on any other servers. Have you made any previous applications, If so when?: Yes October of '21, I was requested to redo app. with a better paragraph and never followed through. How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: I have two days off a week from work, and then after work everyday. If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod? I make music and run a small music label, I also work in the cannabis industry and do that a lot as a hobby too. Did you read the staff rules?: Tw33q Edit: Beef'd up paragraphs

  21. In-game name: RC-5466 TECH Elias Age: 17 SteamID: STEAM_0:1:441740126 Warns: 0 Timezone: MST Playtime?: 3281 Hours Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?: Yes Referral(s): Eli Past experiences as a Game Master: [Optional] MRP Gamemaster x2, MRP Admin, SWRP Gamemaster x2, SWRP Admin. Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] I believe that I have greatly contributed to RP as a whole on both SWRP and MRP in the past not just as a GM, but also as a player. I have always strived to ensure that people are having a good RP experience and even outside of roleplay just enjoy their stay in our community. I have actively played Garnet servers for coming up on 3 years now and have enjoyed my stay in both role playing and interacting with the people within the community. Another trait that I believe will be important to have and use as a GM is the ability to adapt to situations. There should of course always be a general layout of an event but one should be able to accommodate for anything that could go wrong and or not to plan within the event and I should be able to adapt and let people do their thing within the roleplay scenario. With my experience on SWRP and MRP in the past few years, I believe I can use my ability to adapt to create enjoyable RP events for the players of SWRP. Along with this, I believe that I can be quite versatile in my GMing abilities. I can work with very experienced roleplayers or I can work with people who have never played on an RP server and still make it enjoyable for them in whatever situation. Along with this, I believe that my ability to be versatile allows players to be creative in how they approach a situation. There will not be a specific path laid out for them so it allows them to be creative on how they approach and deal with the situation. Another reason that I would be a good GM is that I am always looking to improve my events and improve how I may set up events. If people have criticism for my events I always welcome people to come and bring it to my attention so I can keep it in mind for future events. Of course, a lot of trial and error is how we find things that the community enjoys. Lastly, I believe that my ability to create multi-event arcs can also become very enjoyable for players. I have always enjoyed making multi-event arcs with my fellow GM's in the past and they have always been very successful and from what I have seen, very enjoyable for players. I am very well-versed in Star Wars lore and with that I always like to input things from lore into my events so that people who are nerds like me can enjoy that aspect of the event. Thanks! Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include the details: I have not other than years ago. How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Several hours a day. In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: To provide entertaining and enjoyable roleplay events for the community to enjoy. On top of this, help non-GM players host trainings/tryouts in game. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: I would contribute just as said before by creating long multi-scale events and also to create passiveRP for people during downtime. I believe I can very easily think of creative events on the spot whenever necessary to provide RP to the server as much as possible. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: As stated before, I love Star Wars lore and am very well-versed in it. I would contribute by inputting things from SW lore and also creating new lore for new players to enjoy for their characters. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] 1. Map: Monsglacia Crimson (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1790624702) The Troopers of the 34th Battlegroup are doing their normal duties when they are called to Debrief by Navy. Navy gives the following briefing: “The primary objective of the Republic base in Monsglacia is to get the minerals from the nearby mine which the CIS has taken notice to. A squad of 91st were on a general patrol of the area while the mine was not being operated when they were ambushed and their comms cut out. The forces in Monsglacia are cut too thin to fight off a heavy CIS invasion which is why we were called. Our mission is to recover the squad of 91st, protect the mine, and also protect the civilians who live near the mine and operate it.” They are sent out and arrive on the planet. The troops gather together and begin pushing towards the mines. They must split into 2 teams. One heading to the mines and the other heading to the village to ensure the safety of the civilians. Once they arrive they are met with heavy CIS contact from the mine, the village, and the surrounding mountains. They find a small CIS FOB on the ice lake with tanks, a tactical droid, and heavy CIS forces. They must clear that out and the mine while the other group protects the civilians. Once the FOB is clear the troopers can hack into the terminals, dp MedRP, and extract the info from the tactical droid's head. After all the droids are cleared out the 41st and SOB will continue to patrol around to assure that there are no CIS stragglers left behind. After that is done, they will RTB to Anaxes. 2. Map: Monsilva Crimson (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1346612100) A distress signal is called from OP Zeta. It had been infiltrated and taken over by CIS forces. As the clones arrive and clear it out they find a datapad left by one of the B1 Commanders. As Engineers hack into it they hack into a private CIS radio channel where the CIS are talking about their fleet heading towards the planet of Monsilva. The 34th Battlegroup swiftly heads off to Monsilva in order to halt the CIS invasion of the planet assisting Even Piell’s fleet. As the clones land they would be granted any vehicles from fleet as necessary to complete the mission. 41st is then sent out to scout the forward area and come across heavy CIS contact they report it in and the main forces group up with the 41st. The forces continue to push forward towards an FOB with a tower with 212th ang 501st leading the charge. Once they arrive they are greeted by injured civilians with their homes being burnt to the ground along with the power being completely off in the village.. The clones swiftly assist by setting up a medical tent and putting out the fires for the villagers as well as Engineers getting their power back up and working. As the wounded are being attended to the Jedi feel a disturbance in the force feeling as though a danger was approaching. Soon after they are met with drop pods and General Grievous looking to push the clones out of the planet. As the Jedi deal with Grievous the rest of the clones are continuing to push back the remaining forces. After all is clear, General Grievous then A) Retreats and escapes or B) If the Jedi get him to surrender/they beat him in lightsaber combat he would be arrested leading towards a CIS rescue of him on the Venator. 3. Map: Alderaan (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2723846769) This event would be more so a lot of passive RP and trainings for the troopers to get off Anaxes for a little while. This map has many training/sim rooms, a large Jedi temple for some sweet Jedi RP to happen and a large forest again for more trainings. Have done this event before and people have gotten very creative with it. Basically, GM’s would be there to set up whatever passiveRP / Trainings that players would want. Market RP with EC’s, Jedi sparring, B&C Trainings, etc. A nice change of pace to just let people be creative and get off Anaxes for a few hours. 4. Medium scale on world. Map: Anaxes The troopers are at base doing their normal duties when a call comes from a nearby village asking for some clone forces to come because they had some information for the troopers. When they arrive they begin speaking with the villagers when they speak of CIS forces coming by and destroying their markets and stealing their food and anything of worth from their homes. The clones then find some tracks of a squad of battle droids leading to OP Aurek. The clones approach and find the Outpost swarmed with CIS forces and tanks. An alarm blares in the outpost as the clones approach and vultures and tri-fighters are sent out to stop Republic reinforcements from approaching. As the clones approach they find that there is a humanoid General leading these droids. As they clear out the outpost, Navy orders that they take the CIS General alive to get information from him. As they arrive Engineers are able to hack into a terminal to get information on what the CIS were doing here. Their objective was simply to: “Hold off Republic forces from the outpost while reinforcements were arriving from the fleet.” As the clones see this they could go a few ways to solve this. A) They force the General to call off the reinforcements B) They RTB and get into defensive positions to stop the reinforcements that are arriving. If option B is taken then a CIS frigate will arrive and the clones will just have to survive a normal old base attack. 5. Small scale on world. Map: Anaxes (Forest Arena) Republic intel suggests that there has been CIS setting up an FOB on the far outskirts of Anaxes. A squad of ARC troopers are sent out to investigate what exactly is going on. They report back that the intel was correct. A CIS force had been gathering on the far outskirts. All available 34th Battlegroup units gear up and head out to the location. They are met with heavy forest with an FOB visible through some brush. The troopers must tread lightly because it is hard to see where they are getting shot from due to the thick vegetation. The troopers are able to push through and reach the FOB. Once they clear it out they are given orders to place charges all around and inside the FOB in order to ensure that the CIS will not be able to use it for any more future endeavors on the planet of Anaxes. Thank you for reading!

  23. I like this idea but the main issue isn’t the server being full from too many alt accounts. The main issue is some players making money at a rate that’s unfair to other players. Even if we disconnect one account every time someone tries to join the server while the server is full, that’s not going to help the fact that many of the top players are logging several accounts in at a time in order to make $2mill+ every hour.
    1 point
  24. Tbh… +1 Ive seen people complain that server is full when A LOT of accounts are ALTS and literally had to ask for an alt to be disconnected.

  25. I think if we put this into effect we’d definitely need a grace period where people can still use alts for a little while. We can’t just drop the rule and immediately put it into effect or a bunch of people would get banned without even knowing the rules exists. We’d need to advertise this rule heavily for a few weeks and make sure everyone knew about the change before fully implementing it, to ensure that the high level players knew to stop using alts.

  27. +1 Martian's Right. In the past there have been times where Alt farming was so bad my friends and I couldn't access the server because all the slots were taken. This deterred me from spending real money in game for years because I couldn't rely on being able to log in to use the stuff after I bought it. I'm unsure if DarkRP economy is ever fully balanceable, and I think printer farming is always going to have a drastic range for profit. selling printers in game and having them gifted to you will always mean someone has 20 printers and someone else has 2... But limiting alts would help balance this out, and it would probably increase the amount of player interactions regarding printer sales and also basing together and resource sharing. Kinda unlikely, but people who can afford 20 Gmod accts and running them at the same time are probably the people most likely to buy ingame cash for irl money, so maybe we'd see an increase in Credit purchases too.

(include any proof): I killed in a sit because I was being harassed and called names without the moderator even asking the other party to stop with the name calling. This cop was "Kay" , level 9 and one other person don't remember their name, were false warranting the wrong person, ended up warranting another exg member and even broke nlr multple times after I killed for passing my KoS, tried to warrant me 9 times warrant, got exg smg sockface instead. After killing them a couple times for being at my bases KoS and they break NLR. Finally after the 9th time warranting the wrong person he shoots my base and i do damage to him with an RPG. "Kay" then calls a sit on me because they think im cheating . as they didn't know that to warrant me they had to stop putting eXg in front of the warrant, which I myself told him how to fix. Immediately after the sit get warranted for doing RPG dmg after he was shooting at me to begin with. let alone harrasing me for a decent deal before this. I call a sit after he false warrants me and gets in my base after out previous sit. During out sit with Versace as the person in charge, Kay is calling me uneducated, unemployed, stupid and other demeaning things, just mocking me for a good portion of the sit. The VIP MOD doesn't warn him for his language and he continued to talk to me mad disrespectful and repeating these comments because he knows its getting under my skin.. the mod still doesn't give him any warning and I kill this guy during the sit because it's the only way to get to stop with the name calling, the mod wasn't. Then I get banned for 3x RDM in a sit when the mod didnt gag the guy once but just kept bringing him back and letting him talk to me the way he was.Why should your ban/mute be removed?: I don't think this was a fair sit, I called the sit in the first place for false warrants and abusing his role as PD and the experienced mod didn't control the sit correctly. I genuinely believe if any other admin/mod was dealing with the sit i would have never brought a weapon out during it. I'm not gonna just let "Kay" talk however they want to me during the sit. I'm sorry Versace did but I don't think a 2 week ban on just me is right given the context of this sit and the harrasment from Kay before/during the sit and the harassment that was allowed during the sit.

  31. I would also suggest wiping people's wallets when they are caught in the act, but everybody already knows that this is how I feel about the issue. There are no positive aspects to people exploiting the economy of this server by hosting a plethora of alts in order to sell the money for real-cash transactions. Proggy seemed to be in disagreement of banning said players, and I will leave it at that.

  32. You realize if Alting or "botting" if thats what you call it, carries most DarkRP servers? Most of the concurrent players of GMOD is just Alts to help boost pop to appear higher on the Server Browser. Which other wise without them most servers wouldn't really max pop at all. Allowing players to bring Alts on the server just helps the server appear as more active. The only issue to having an Alt is the fact you can ban evade. So there is not issue with that. Now regarding the main post, yes it sucks that people give in-game currency to someone for them to buy something on the donor store, at the same time it's generating the Income to keep Garnet's servers up. Without people trading in-game items/money it could hurt the income this server brings in. so -1.

  33. Is this wise? Continuous improvement is extremely important in video games and servers alike. The problem here in my opinion is that it is broken. Can we all recognize that by allowing this feature (In-game cash for IRL money) for those with alts it is the literal definition of botting? If you spin up a local vm with an alternate account in games to make money to sell in a form of AFK'ing, it's botting.

  35. If a player has enough in game cash to trade for money, they are likely a regular (and also likely a financial whale for the server). Do you really think "we should ban people who are guaranteed to spend time and money on the server" is a good idea?
    1 point
  36. -1 This is in part what makes this server so popular and unique. Like it or not Alts can help keep a decent pop in slow trafic hours. Cracking down on ingame selling would be extremely difficult and in my humble opinion would most likely slowly kill the server. I’m not against adding other ways to spend your ingame currency but this suggestion ain’t it.

I'll see you back on the server @KingMash @ChrisRid (s/o the new managers ) @stretchy plz lock n move.

  42. Also sorry I forgot to mention that I'm making it on his behalf because he has had issues for months with making a forums account. Beezy just wants it to be clear the word won't be used again if/when he was to be unbanned, and would never mean it in hateful way.

  43. Here is a video of the situation in question: https://streamable.com/11vj25 I haven't ran into this issue before this in terms of banning for racism. I used D3A with the guidance of @Chawhead stating that D3A is meant to help in situations where us staff members don't know the punishment. I wasn't quite sure if there was any leniency allowed to be given and the reporter did record it, and also requested Beezy be banned. In this case I think intent is important. I do not think that the user in question, Beezy meant this in a malicious form in any way. Nor do I think he was inferring the original meaning of the word itself. It was more of a friend-to-friend comment and really, an endearing sentence, in a sort-of-way. While personally, I wouldn't use this language and honestly don't think it really ever needs to be used, I don't think the inherent purpose was to hurt, or cause ill-will. I base a lot of my warns, bans, and verbal's off of intent and honesty. I did talk to @ChrisRid about this almost immediately after - asking what the proper protocol is for this type of thing and if it is possible to give leniency in these situations. After our discussion, it became very obvious that I did the maximum punishment for a crime that really required a minor punishment. Beezy has never been banned (in the logs at least) for anything else. He's a long-time server member and rarely ever causes issues. Had I known that it's up to my digression in these situations, I would have given him a stern verbal, explained why it shouldn't be used (even in a non-malicious way!) and moved on. You live you learn, and I can own up to this. Just my two cents. - Knightyear

  45. Your suggestion has been Denied. This is not seen as a necessary addition, There is too much potential for lag and players using these to minge to justify them being added.

  46. DENIED This is a unique and fun class added to give those who've earned a lot of XP over time (and therefore a high enough level) a new role to explore, and the level has been set as such. This is not something that we are looking to change at this point in time.

  48. I was waiting for this response and I'm glad you brought it up. When you say "whale" what is your definition? Is a VIP a whale? What is the determining factor here? Most of the 100m plus users have 10+ alts, let's just be honest about it. The alts drop printers that get upgraded and then you make multiple millions of dollars to sell by afk'ing in your base for 11+ hours. There's the option to buy in-game cash for credits. I am absolutely supportive of making that the meta (adjusting it based on the market) if it means support is being funneled into the server. Where in this situation is garnet supported outside of one VIP purchase? Multiple accounts = steam or secondary sites. Cash gets sold for IRL cash = to the player. The only part of this equation in which Garnet is supported is the initial VIP purchase which is "one-time". I'd argue that many players buy VIP, buy the AWP and move on. Majority of the donations seem to be custom classes which again are purchased by credits. Why must external payments be supported? I am confused with the need for it outside of personal gain, not gain on the server. There's a reason some posts highlight how it's normally not allowed or supported on other servers. I'd venture to say that's for a very good reason. If players are staying on Garnet to make real-life money off of it, they are playing the wrong game and likely not even RP'ing. It's meant to be a role-playing gaming experience. Not an AFK simulator for real life cash. Sure, I love hanging out with buddies, chatting, and having a good time. Outside of personal gain, I'd like to hear an argument about how buying ingame cash from players for real life money supports the server in any way.
