  1. It's been a while, I usually come on the forums to lurk every once and a while to check up on how things are doing, and tonight I just wanted to make a post and see how everyone was doing. I don't play GMOD anymore (or play any games in general for that matter) but this community was a big part of my life growing up as a teenager. The server and this community in general got me through some lonely times in my life, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm glad to see that it's still doing well and that it's still kicking, and it's always nice to see familiar names I remember when I played pop up on here. I remember being 14 and working my way up to being the second "General of the Army", and feeling so accomplished. I honestly think that this server really shaped me into the person I am today, it sounds dumb but I really do think it helped me learn a lot of life skills in terms of leadership and building connections with people when I didn't really have anywhere else to turn to learn those things. Also met a lot of cool people because of this community, I haven't really kept in contact with a lot of them but I still think about them a lot from time to time. I guess as a little mini update on myself for those who care, I've been focusing on myself and working on improving myself both physically and mentally. I've been devoting myself to weightlifting & bodybuilding in general, and I've pretty much fallen in love with the gym. Guess I just wanted to make an appreciation post more than anything, was feeling nostalgic and just wanted to say thank you @Nutter How have you guys been?

  3. i mean its kinda on you if you lose all that money, its not like garnet is forcing you to keep that much money in your printers. I also think when you have that many printers that could supply that money in one withdrawal phase, your base is already nearly impossible to raid anyway? I mean I understand when your raiding someone, but its on you for not withdrawing before you transport. -1 easy solution: Withdraw your money, no need to baby the players

  4. its at most FRP not scamming. scamming is when you're promised a set amount on something whether you're buying or trading and the other person doesn't hold up their end of the deal and you lose. a very niche definition of scamming but its basically fraud. someone breaking nlr or fail raiding and taking your printers moneys and what not isn't scamming because theres no agreement its just FRP if you're lucky to get that included.

  8. I'm suggesting a command to be added to all CP classes including Warden and Mayor (For the reason of checking if someone was falsely jailed). CP Classes have needed this command for a while to be able to check if someone has a gun license or not, even if its just a small fake id GUI that at least confirms that they have one works wonders in the Police Department jobs, this allows almost near realistic PD Roleplay including Legal/Illegal gun stores and owners bringing a fun atmosphere when running Raiding/Criminal classes and Gun Dealers as well. I think this would benefit the server in more way than just one, if a cop were to arrest someone with a gun license today we wouldn't be able to keep track of something like that it would just be on pure retention of remembering who exactly they bought the gun from or if they bought a license from PD, which makes no sense. If there's no Check License command, there should be no licenses in the first place. This should be a very very very easy fix and command to add. Lil Reference picture

  9. I can't for the life of me understand how this is a "scam", but I would at least agree about it being FailRP. Though if we don't normally compensate people for lost guns or money in the event of RDM or whatnot, I don't know if this would even be something we could really force a player to give back. Neutral on this. The idea is nice but I'm not confident in its implementation.

  10. Easy plus +1 I remember hosting an event and seeing that it was going to be his first one. As I played as a EC and watched over the players I noticed he did very good for his RP and fully understood how to do it while also having fun and not being 100% serious all the time. I’m confident that this man can make a great GM

  12. Hi, everyone! I'm not sure if you've seen my name snooping around forums recently, but, if you don't know who I am, my name is Jared! I have been a part of the GarnetGaming community since August of 2016, right before I started my freshman year of high school! Quick synopsis of my time on GG: - I started playing my first stint of MRP near the fall of 2016, ended around the middle of 2017(?) It's honestly been so long I can't quite remember the exact timeframe. I was an active player mainly on the Marines during the days of CSCDesert with people such as Davidson, senorisgrig, Zach Jones, yokedPREDATOR, North, and many more that may pop into your heads. I first messed around playing SAS and had a blast with our dogshit base that Garnet would faint in disgust nowadays. (If you lot from SAS are still around somehow, hello!) - Afterwards I then came back for a short stint as an Army officer, had some fun with that, and was a part of MRP staff for a little while - I then moved over to DRP and eventually became staff - My last and most recent MRP run was in 2021 during the pandemic, became a part of AwesomeAidan's Green Beret, still love that group, lots of homies Why am I telling you guys this? Well...I'm graduating college in less than a month from now. I can't believe that I am still here on these forums after almost 8 years. Eight years of my life have gone by, and, in a weird way, this community reminds me of the journey I went through on a personal level in order to get to this point. Since the days of August 2016, I have graduated high school, got a girlfriend of over two years, lost my virginity, and now I am very close to earning my bachelor's degree in cybersecurity! I am truly a Garnet Gamer! Even though I may not know you, I just wanted to quickly say thank you. Thank you for everyone in this community who has impacted my life. You all have helped mold me into the man I am today...ready to conquer the world. I may not have become a general in MRP like I wanted to all those years ago, or a Super Admin, or a prominent figure in this community, but I have become a man ready to succeed...in REAL LIFE of course! My most prominent memories of growing up have been from playing with this community of leeches, cunts, and dickwads, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I really wish I could've played GMod with you guys consistently for 8 years, but the sad truth is that our personal lives are more important than a video game. As corny as it is to say, it genuinely hurts me that life got in the way. However, I think it is for the greater good. Could I come back and play? I doubt it. I have a woman to worry about now. I have myself to worry about now. Is roleplaying as an Army private who is being instructed by a 14 year old kid from California to go and capture an objective from the Taliban even important in my life anymore? Probably not. I am 22 years old. I am an "old" man for GG standards at this rate. Current members of GG, please enjoy these moments. You are at the peak of your lives, you just don't know it yet. Yes...you're playing a modded version of Half-Life 2 that got released as a fully-fledged standalone game in 2006, where you roleplay as a Star Wars character, or a military man, or some other stupid shit. But you don't need to think of it like that. DON'T think of it like that. Think of how many friendships you've made in this commmunity, and how much fun you've had. Once you start paying bills on your own, you'll regret not living in the moment. Just thought I'd speak my peace. Thank you all for making my life a little less shitty. Jared

Past experiences as a Game Master: [Optional] I was a game master for Icefuse Star Wars Clone Wars RP for a brief period, as well as on the staff team as a Senior Moderator Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] The reason that I should be chosen by other applicants is varied. Not only am I a former Gamemaster (GM from here on in this application) but I also have a large understanding of Star Wars: The Clone Wars lore both legend and canon. I often spend time researching events from both sources of the clone wars and always made sure my past events were well planned, coherently thought out, and devised in a way so that 88% of people could perform some duty related to their unique skills when the situation called for it. Unfortunately my time on Icefuse was short and I never became a full GM mostly because I took an extended LOA and then was removed from the GM/Staff team due to my resignation from the server which was brought on by an unfortunate series of events in real life. Nonetheless, my passive events and rp focused events continued to make strides in the time I was there. Ranging from medically certed members needing to make an emergency pit stop to heal numerous wounded soldiers amidst a battlefield. All the way to having soldiers finding Jedi/Sith artifacts and having to handle that accordingly in a Sand Crawler Jawa trading hub on Tatooine. I have hosted events involving wild mongrels breaching the Felucia base, as well as a highly contagious virus breaking out among the soldiers, leaving the base to be attacked freely by the CIS as it was relatively undefended and the airborne disease had no effect on droids. One event included the soldiers having to take up the mantle and rebuild/instruct new clone cadets on Kamino after a terrifyingly long and hard battle. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details Yes. Unfortunately I was banned on the Icefuse server around 6/11/23 through 7/11/23 for "ERP". However, I appealed the ban and the appeal was approved. I only spent maybe a day or two actually banned as the ERP claim was falsed. (I had video evidence showing that I had not committed ERP.) How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: I am a 17 year old adolescent who is turning 18 in April, and then graduating sometime in May. This does mean that I will be working relatively full time after graduation, and I may have to go on ROA/LOA temporarily during the finale of my Senior year of High School. In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: The responsibilities of the GM(s) is to provide fun, engaging, lore friendly events and projects. They are to uphold a quota (presumably) and must maintain activity. They need to be able to create events and improvise when they are in the middle of them if things change or are not readily available. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: I would contribute to RP as part of the GM team by hosting events that revolve around a specific or multiple Batt’s specialties and really make sure they can each work to the best of their abilities for their roles in the Republic. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: My single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment would be to host events for Specific Batt’s, this may be unachievable due to us only having one server and wanting people to be able to attend events but I have a solution. As we have cert specific roleplay events I believe whole-heartedly it should be the same for Battalions. They don’t have to be when the Off-Worlds happen or when the On-Worlds happen either, they could be in between these major daily events. It seems to me that this would help with people complaining that their Batt never gets to exercise their specialties in off worlds or on worlds because they’re forced to just sit around and play click simulator while other groups do all the actual roleplay and fun stuff. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] Rescue Mission on Ryloth: The Separatists have captured a group of Twi'lek hostages on Ryloth. Players must coordinate a rescue mission, infiltrating the Separatist base and freeing the hostages while dealing with enemy forces. Battle of Umbara: Players are divided into two teams, to reenact the intense battle on Umbara. Each team must strategize and execute their plans to secure victory, with various objectives and challenges along the way. Fighting the Umbarans and potentially eachother under the guise of fighting "Umbarans". Clones Gone Rogue: A group of clone troopers has gone rogue and taken refuge in an abandoned facility on a remote planet. Players must form a task force to track down and apprehend the rogue clones, facing challenges such as traps and ambushes along the way. The Battle for Christophsis: Republic forces are attempting to retake the planet Christophsis from Separatist control. Participating in a series of engagements to secure key strategic points and turn the tide of the battle. The Hunt for a War Criminal: A notorious Separatist war criminal is rumored to be hiding on a lawless planet in the Outer Rim. Players must gather intelligence, track down the criminal, and either capture or eliminate them, navigating through the planet's dangerous underworld and facing off against local gangs and mercenaries.

Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos? Yes Referral(s) Nobody i just like the server Past experiences as a Game Master I dont remember many server names but ive been GMing for about 3 years Why should we choose you over other applicants? While to some I may seem like another random player i actually have quite the history and experience as both a gm and swrp player in any role. I started back in 2018 and have actively played since. I am on practically every day and have began to enjoy it a lot more than i thought i would. I am a creative and Thorough person when it comes to GMing unlike when i am playing for fun as i take the job very seriously. I would greatly enjoy being able to not only do big events but assist players with anything they might need from battalion trainings and certs to sparking an exciting day from a boring one with a sudden onworld event. While i am new to the community I do not plan on staying that way for long, and Recruiting me as a GM would not only help me become more involved in both the server and the community. In the long run I know that people will be able to look back at the events and things I will do as a GM and reminisce about some of their favorite moments on the server no doubt. On top of everything else I also have no life tbh so I can do back to back events to keep the server rolling on the slower days when a chunk of the server is busy with work or school stuff, I dont mind GMing whether its 10 or 100 people, I enjoy it regardless. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details No How much time do you have to contribute to the role I am currently job searching so at the current moment i am free from about 10am-12am every day In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster? A gamemaster is almost like the heart of a server, because no matter how good a staff or dev team is or how energetic the COs are it doesnt mean much of anything if there are never any events happening. As a GM It is your job to ensure an exciting experience for everyone on the server, From CT to Jedi to SOB. If a GM isnt doing exciting events it can cause a server to lose traction and player count quickly. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team I have pretty vast starwars knowledge and as long as its approved by my GM overseers id enjoy bringing a set of characters who frequently appear in events in order to build a bond with the troopers as if they were normal whitelists almost Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server An event line following a Jedi knight and his battalion commander who frequently find themselves the target of DFUs and Kidnappings, They would be recognizable models and characters who would have storylines that could easily cross over into any other event with their ability to seemingly always wind up in trouble. They would come with a made up battalion (Probably something like 13th Thunder core) And a doc detailing each adventure they find themselves in so new players can brush up on the lore of the entire plotline. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] Operation Dugout [Troopers will be allowed ground vehicles and a single LAAT/I for troop transport and positioning] At the beginning of the event the base will receive an emergency broadcast from a republic frequency begging for assistance with their current position (To be determined once i know the maps) The troops will be given an emergency briefing and will deploy as quickly as possible. Once onworld the troops will be guided via droppods and a pair of event characters who will serve as their guides as they bunker down and are given a timer to hold off waves of droids ending with a climactic decision to rig the outpost with explosives and evac in order to destroy the CIS forces Nightfall Protocol [Onworld Passive RP into FOB Sweep Event] Naval will be contacted first informing them of a possible insurgent force of clones within the base (Played by up to 4 randomly chosen players) Troops will be ordered to their bunks and inspected by CG and Naval. The event character troopers will act completely normal and pass these inspections then will steal a LAAT and set up fortifications and be reinforced by CiS forces. Troops will head out on foot to clear the FOBs and finally face off with a DFU and the event characters at the crystal caves. The DFU will surrender at the end of the conflict and be allowed to be interrogated by jedi for RP and training Blue Moon!? [Troops will be allowed no additional equipment] During a training onboard a venator the troops receive a mysterious broadcast and are ordered by command to investigate it. They find themselves landing upon a seemingly abandoned CiS base with no explanation as to why it has been emptied. The troops slowly find notes and context that reveals that this was a CiS Biochemical lab that was developing a gaseous disease that rapidly deteriorates and zombifies troopers. Luckily it seems that this factory is empty of both the gas and zombies. Unfortunately it is not empty of traps as when a specific console is used it sets off an alarm that alerts a nearby CIS fleet that hyperspaces in and launches an assault on the troops. Once defeated the CiS Leave and drop several pods that begin to release the gas. If troopers are not fast enough they will have to deal with a hazmat emergency on ship 13th Reason [Troops will be allowed all equipment] The Thirteenth thunder core needs the help of our troops! They are making an emergency landing to occupy the base while their Jedi General and Commander are in critical condition and their onboard medical equipment isnt good enough to save them. Then halfway during the emergency the troops will load up and leave into hyperspace, forgetting both their CO and Jedi who will then participate in an onworld base defense and swiftly be taken to reunite with their troopers. . . . . for now. . . . . Codewords and Crackheads [RP heavy mission, no vehicles or equipment allowed.] There has been recent suspicious activity happening in the underbelly of Coruscant and naval have been informed that one of their spies within the CiS has sent encrypted information to a gang member of a local hutt cartel who is willing to exchange the info for a reduced sentence in prison. He however is not physically identified and can only be uncovered by a series of codewords predetermined during the briefing. Once onworld it will be up to Naval and CG to Identify the informant and safely extract him for details regarding the next offworld. (Edited to look a little better and fixed the steamID)

  17. Description: It should be amended to the rules that taking from printer(s) when you have broken the raid timer for a base, or came back after dying in a raid and take any amount of money that the player should have to give said money back. The reporter would have to have a clip that shows how much money was in the printers close enough to the raid that an estimate can be made for what needs to be returned. If the player did not return said money to the victim(s), they would be punished for scamming. Reasoning: [how would this benefit our server?] Reason being, if somebody breaks the raid timer or NLR they only get a warning/jail which isnt fair for the players who are printing. The punishment should be fair, and compensate the affected user(s). Additional Information: Just wanted to say I just had this happen with some level 30's who were being toxic, and @Orion8559 took the sit and I never got my 500k back.

  18. Not everyone always has the luxury of a buddy to base with and often then not one is left to defend while others idle for hours upon end. I'm the least reliable to defend for hours upon end, and the people I play with tend to base later in the day for me when Im usually getting rest. A rule like this is necessary and I believe it would solve a few things pertaining to NLR being broken or people not respecting the 20 minute timer.

  19. Honestly, it appears your reputation within the community by those who know you is good, the issue only appears to lie within your application itself. The application itself isn't terrible, it's actually relatively a few easy fixes. Here's your actual STEAM ID btw: STEAM_0:0:737076490 I would also suggest you go back and re-read the staff rules and just beef up your paragraph section as the others have suggested. I also did check your ban appeal from 2023 and it was indeed accepted so that checks out. Unfortunately though, I'm going to have to go with a -1 until those things are fixed. -1

  20. Neutral I agree with the premise of this suggestion. Being able to get the money back if it was taken via any rule breaking seems like a good addition to the rules. I wouldn't have it as high of a punishment as "scamming," but I'd definitely consider it FailRP. I don't think the punishment should increase or decrease based on how much money was taken - If the rule breaker doesn't return the money, they should be punished. I agree very much with @Errol's post. I've got no clue what @sureak and @IAreGunner 's point even is. Yeah guys, I know all the "good players" aren't gonna get sneakily NLR raided and have their stuff stolen, but this is still a valuable addition to the rules. Not everybody has 5 alts and dupes for bases. This rule makes a lot of sense, especially for newer players.

  23. Its a very like I said "tough-luck" scenario they don't have a set dollar amount in order to increase the punishment even though it might not happen the most that staff could really add on is like a FRP since theres no severity scale on punishment unless its like rdmx2 or nlrx2 etc.

  26. On that same boat with you brother. I think this server actually toughened me up a lot while also offering an alternative to some of the hardships I faced. I think that’s why I’ve stayed as long as I have, because the community has had such a big influence on me growing up it would be impossible to let it go at this point. I’m glad your doing well and I still remember the days back on cs_desert when us Taliban would aim our guns at the roof and fire in celebration of a won war. And I think I can attribute some of my skills in and out of school such as note-taking or educating due to the environment of the server with the days on end training recruits and being able to tolerate their behavior or coming back every week to tryout for my favorite faction. It is pretty neat how the server has made an impact on every players life new or old. I thank garnet for the ability to play and find such a great community.

In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: We are responsible for what is essentially the life of the server. If the server puts out bad events no one wants to play on it, GM's are also responsible for helping out with any training and tryouts they can. Everything a GM does sustains the life of the server. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: I would like to focus on story driven events and passives with Jedi at the forefront as they deserve just as much love as the clones. Don't get me wrong I will be providing plenty of events and RP for clones as well. They can engage in lively debates on important issues, negotiate alliances, and strategize political maneuvers to influence the fate of the galaxy. This event can require players to prepare speeches, propose legislation, and engage in diplomatic role-playing, creating a dynamic and immersive political simulation within the game. 2. **Jedi Temple Trials:** Organize a series of challenges and trials within the Jedi Temple for aspiring Jedi players to test their skills and prove their worthiness. Players can participate in lightsaber duels, Force ability tests, and moral dilemmas to showcase their mastery of the Force and their commitment to the Jedi Code. This event can provide a structured and competitive environment for players to role-play as Jedi initiates, offering a blend of combat, puzzle-solving, and ethical decision-making to simulate the rigorous training process of becoming a Jedi Knight. 3. **Smuggler's Run Race:** Create a fast-paced racing event where players can pilot their own starships through a challenging course filled with obstacles, shortcuts, and rival smugglers. Players can customize their ships, upgrade their engines, and outmaneuver their opponents to claim victory and earn valuable rewards. This event can appeal to players who enjoy high-speed thrills and competitive gameplay, offering a mix of skill-based flying, strategic navigation, and adrenaline-fueled excitement in a Star Wars-themed setting. 4. **Hutt Cartel Auction:** Host an exclusive auction event where players can bid on rare and valuable items, artifacts, and technology coveted by the influential Hutt Cartel. Players can role-play as wealthy buyers, cunning smugglers, or desperate bidders vying for the chance to acquire unique treasures and exotic goods from across the galaxy. This event can foster intrigue, negotiation, and intrigue as players compete for limited resources and vie for the favor of the notorious Hutt crime lords, adding a layer of economic and social dynamics to the Star Wars role-playing experience. 5. **Sith Academy Trials:** Stage a dark and challenging event where players can undergo trials and tests at the Sith Academy to prove their loyalty to the dark side of the Force. Players can face off against fearsome adversaries, delve into forbidden knowledge, and embrace their inner darkness as they seek to ascend the ranks of the Sith Order. 29. +1 - The detail needs working on, but I know you can make good events. Your OT was very in depth, so I believe your ability to idea create will be good!

  30. I agree for the most part yes, that definitely is scamming but there really isn't a way we can force players to pay the scammed amount and most of the time it falls on the mod/admin that takes the sit, resulting in fewer mods willing to take said sit. To me, making this punishable gives it a higher chance of them paying back the amount they took after breaking their timer. This is technically Scamming and FRP. For me it's a +1

  31. +1 agreed you should add more detail, HOWEVER, I've had plenty of first hand experience with you and can vouch for how active and creative you are. Don't prove me wrong man, good luck.

  32. An RPG is already not as good in giant bases, making glass completely rocket-proof would just make that even worse. I get that small bases are kinda useless since they can easily be taken to task by a few rockets, but ultimately I have no idea what would even be a good solution to this issue. You can't please everyone of course, but I'm not in the camp of thinking "make glass RPG-proof" is a good idea, especially if high-level players just use it too for their ADX Supermax base to be even stronger. At most I would be fine with the rocket splash damage being lowered since I do agree that its range is kind of insane when people outside can die from standing too close to a place being bombed. -1 for rocket-proof glass, slight +1 to reducing rocket splash damage.

  33. Doubling what Gunner said. We have plenty of ways of already moving across the map in a reasonable manner, I don't think we really need another one at this time. -1

  34. +1 - The formatting makes me cringe a bit. But the application is well written, some refinement work to be done. Over the course of GM Training, this will come to be an easy transition. Good Luck.

  35. +1 - I know the events could have some move, but seeing your RP first hand as Jedi - I'm confident you can make a great GM. Good Luck.

  38. Rockets are worth millions for a reason. Butttttttt, I do agree with bringing back noclipped glass, which would nerf the rockets.

  39. Denied ______________________________ We have no current interest in making a voting system, as it can be abused to reduce the overall police numbers by means of groups/clans of criminal roles voting no on the prompt; Additionally, we also see no reason to raise the level for police officers, as it limits the engagement from the class by newer players, and the risk factor for these players causing issues is not very high. ______________________________ Thank you for the time & effort you put into your suggestion!
