Proof of ban :  uhhhh, i cant join the server?

what happened : there were people advertising for their in game shop in ooc, as a joke i said "SELLING METH IRL IN THE ATLANTA AREA TEXT ME AT (678) - 420 - (insert random number) " i figured that it being in all caps and the 3 digit number would give it away as being a joke but it didnt. i dont even live in the atlanta area (however 678 is the area code for atlanta).

Reason for removal : i was joking and even if i did break the rules this process of trying to get someone to help me find the appeal page (which works) will make me definitely not even joke advertise in the ooc chat.

changing to -1 cause there is phone number maybey try in a month or something when you can prove you didnt mean harm

False. Advertising bans can definitely happen on messages that are not /adverts.

I don’t know if he should be banned forever for this. In my opinion he should of at most got verbal

I'd -1, but with how the last appeal was handled with the advertising porn stuff, because a guy put phub.com on a computer screen, I feel this is on the same level as that. If he got accepted then I don't see why this one wouldn't. The last one was a joke the person did, and so is this, so I don't feel it's fair to deny him and change the standard when we just set the standard for this stuff on the other appeal.

For that reason, I'm going to +1.

As far as the handling of this goes, I feel like “advertising” is a big reach. This should have been looked at as a Doxing case, still punishable by a permanent ban. Don’t know if he was brought to a sit or not but he should’ve. The staff involved should of said that phone numbers in chat are often seen as Doxing attempts and are taken very seriously. Was the phone number real or fake? And by this handling, am I to assume that if someone puts (877) CashNow or (866) 6Faster in chat they are going to be permanently banned?

Idk just seems like the staff member handling the situation decided not to take an extra few steps to verify this as a joke. As a result, a player was permanently banned for trying to bring humor to the server to the detriment of no one.

Mate he put a whole number of a random phone number STILL is advertising my guy. It doesn't matter staff are trained to follow the training they got from higher ups simple as that.

I know how to handle my bans and always get my proof, there was talking in ooc after that as well saying that was advertising saying that with you putting a number out there and basically saying to call it for the meth is still a perma like said before. I was in ts with other members as well asking if I should ban him anyway, so I had my proof and went through with it, yes it could of also of been a dox issue but he said to call him for meth there so he was advertising the selling of meth whether it be a joke or not,  it is still a phone number and you can not put those out there especially in OOC. I am reading what you are saying and I am not over looking it, but when advertising/dox/ddos/links are put into OOC we do not need a sit to ban them.
