  1. Introduction: As many of you know, recently a change was made with the reserves system. I would like to today highlight the flaws of which, and point out prior examples and community testimony that can support my claim. While I wanted to wait for someone else who holds a position in MRP to voice their opinion on it, I felt as if it was finally time to have my voice be heard after the system had set in. While I have been renewing my activity on MRP on Tali as an enlisted, I feel my opinion is important as someone who the reserves change affects. I would like to encourage civil discussion about the system, as well as everyone to remain unbiased in their discourse Reserves System Change: For those uninformed, here was the message received by Staff Members and Faction Leaders when the system was changed: New Reserves System Faction Leaders can only authorise reserves for Officers that served under them during their current term. The only exception is authorising the reserves of their predecessor. Staff no longer vote on Reserves. Reserves are automatically revoked if the player is in, or joins, another Faction on the same side. (e.g. lose GB Reserves if you join Rangers) Faction Leaders must notify Executives of new Reserves, and no Reserves are considered to be granted if Executives have not been notified by the Faction Leader As Staff don't vote, Executives will take action regarding the behaviour of players who hold reserves, regardless of what whitelists they are using Also Reserves are a one-time deal. If they get removed for any reason, they are gone unless re-earned again The current Reserves will be reviewed, and Reserves will be removed if players are main-life on the side of their Reserves. I would like to point out some issues with this announcement, and the specifics of it. Nature of the announcement: Before cracking on with the beef of the argument, I want to discuss the way in which this change was introduced to the community. While it was told to staff and faction leaders, the wider community in general was not informed. I see one issue with this, as it isn’t passed to people it actually affects. Theos used the rationale here: "It was told to the people who are responsible for enforcing it" This does make sense, as the people responsible for its enforcement can pass the knowledge to the people with reserves. However, this misses the mark in terms of transparency, as removing someone’s reserves without having a publicly accessible area to discuss it, is strange. Almost every single past reserves change has been supported by a forum post, and I see no reason to break this precedent(Forums Posts of this nature will be presented below). I was not made aware of any significant circumstance that warranted this change. I believe that the reason for the change should be transparent as well, so that the decision can be critically reviewed and deliberated on. This relates to my previous point about the nature of the decision in staff chat. Historical Context: The purpose of this context is not to equate Theos’ decision with past decisions, it is only to provide support and evidence for a good discussion. This was the post that wiped reserves in 2020. https://garnetgaming.net/forums/index.php?/topic/9457-mrp-reserves-removal/&tab=comments#comment-89451 This post was immediately met with criticism from the community, some of these discussions and suggestions following will be listed below. https://garnetgaming.net/forums/index.php?/topic/10925-reserves-post-to-end-all-reserves-posts/&tab=comments#comment-101317 https://garnetgaming.net/forums/index.php?/topic/10546-the-return-of-reserves-for-real/&tab=comments#comment-98425 https://garnetgaming.net/forums/index.php?/topic/10417-i-humbly-ask-that-you-reconsider-the-reserves-stance/&tab=comments#comment-97411 Discussion: “Faction Leaders can only authorise reserves for Officers that served under them during their current term. The only exception is authorising the reserves of their predecessor.” This to me is troubling when you consider the people who dedicated their time to another faction many years ago. If they did the work, they should get the reserves. “Staff no longer vote on Reserves.” I believe this may invite bias, as leaving a decision like this to an individual is worse than a group. Having a balanced group of staff from each side voting on the person’s impact is a great way to do things, and I believe this sentiment is shared by other people who have participated in a reserves vote. “Reserves are automatically revoked if the player is in, or joins, another Faction on the same side. (e.g. lose GB Reserves if you join Rangers)” This to me is probably the most contentious part of the reserves. Imagine a new player joining the server. He puts in many long hours to a base faction before deciding that he wants to go to a SOC. Should the hard work that he put in on that faction be erased? That is for you to decide. One of the big factors of discussion when the reserves was changed last time was the status and history that reserves hold. While it might seem like silly bragging rights, it is still actually an important thing to strive for, and is a consistent target of achievement for many people. My Personal Grievance: I saw the first version of VVS/AAF, and eventually became COL. After my leadership, I received reserves in AAF. Today, AAF reserves are useless, and I would naturally want to return to my 2GA(Tali) reserves. With these rules, I would not be able to. Does my time in AAF(that was completely erased) replace the time during the summer when I would consistently play the server for 14 hours a day with minimal breaks? I believe that the negatives of me(and others in the same situation) receiving our reserves is virtually nonexistent, and I will believe that until proven otherwise. Wrapping up: I have listed my grievances for the change, and I believe that they were clearly laid out. I encourage all of you to discuss in a civil manner. I had received several testimonies from community members but decided to leave them out( I wanted these members to speak on their own behalves). (Also not sure if this was the correct place to post this sorry)

  3. The players who hop on once in a blue moon to see how the server develops are doing just that, they aren't hopping on to use reserves That relies on them being in the necessary loop at the time, and being able to remember what happened accurately from years ago, which is a bit much to ask over one person's reserves years before. Faction Leaders rarely make cases for their requests anymore, when they have it's largely been ignored. When Staff make the decision now it is almost entirely dependent on the player's activity in the week or two prior to their leaving, with only a few exceptions. Also with the current system only permitting 'current' Reserves, it heavily reduces the need for the vote anyway. That part, when it came to reviewing the system, felt like a formality as a result of the other changes. Typically people leave factions for reasons, it is incredibly rare for someone to leave a faction and return back to it shortly. Usually when players feel they have made a mistake in their faction choice they find a third faction to try instead of coming off their Reserves. At the end of the day you gave up those Reserves, if Reserves are like a Tag system where you put one on hold whilst you have another set active. You then lost the ones you had from a separate change on the server, the removal of AAF/AFSOC. You weren't able to get them back because 1. You weren't the previous Marshal, and 2. Reserves are now a one-time deal. The one-time situation is because players would frequently request, after coming off one Reserves, to immediately get back a previous Reserve they held. In that situation, which was happening relatively frequently in the weeks prior to the change, Reserves were genuinely just an ask for whitelist or extra power If players fun requires whitelists, then the issue is not the changed Reserve system but more the (in)actions during Peacetime. On punishment, the change is not so much been about preventing neglect, but more about 'you're now this rank and this faction, if you want Officer permissions you should be willing to push for them'. Actually it's not ironic and is an example of what I feel Reserves should be. At the moment I know I won't be able to commit fully to any Faction, and I don't want to sit in a Faction and not try and push forward in that Faction. So I'm using my Reserves because that's one reason that they are there for, players who can't commit to actively working for a Faction. The handpicks granted so far, unless I've forgotten one, have been directly to Officer, making the competition effectively the same as returning from Reserves. Whilst Reserves were always able to come off their Reserves to aid the faction, these handpicks were used because Faction Leaders had asked and their Reserves did not want to return to the Faction. Handpicks are far from the first action to be taken, but sometimes they are necessary. Reserves returning, since as far as I can remember, have rarely aided a struggling faction. When most players leave a faction, they are done with the faction seemingly. On my opinion on what Reserves should be on the server, I feel that is the biggest misconception from the change. I get the impression that players and Staff have not grasped that this was meant to be the changes to effect a different way Reserves should be used, and so when people have raised their issues it's done assuming Reserves would be held in the same regard, despite the changes preventing that. Of course seeing that is an issue, when originally announcing I should have clarified then, but I was under the impression I did at least to Staff.

  4. I am also going to add on here, no one was informed about this before it became official. This new reserves systems came out of the blue and no one was able to give feedback before hand or even told that it was going to be implemented. My biggest issue with this new system is the fact that you lose your reserves if you join another faction in that country. This is a real problem, once I resign from 313, I don't exactly know where I'm going to go, but I do know that if this is still here, I am very much less likely to go to any faction on Afghan because I don't want to lose my reserves in 313, a faction that I have put almost a year of time in. This really discourages soc officers switching to either a different soc faction or going to the base faction to help whatever faction needs help.

  5. Suggestion : Change the map of the current Venator by this one (offering many things) The current Venator that we have on the server is currently used for event transitions where there is little to do because it is quite small in my opinion and we quickly go around it. The only enjoyable moments on it is when we get attacked by the CIS . Map : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1921124360&searchtext=Venator This map could be used for more than just transititions, it gives you the possibility to live on it, it is much more spacious, ans has several important rooms: - shooting range and spawn - main hangar - Medical bay with working Bacta tanks - Armory with security doors and secure vault - Renovated engine room lobby - Doubled ERL ramp - Ramp for access to bunks in the main lobby - Modified Citadel - New engine room - Brig with jail cells and interrogation room - Naval bridge elevators expanded - Expansion of ATC with a view on the hangar bays - All new naval bridges - New hyperspace system with 18 planets, Republic fleet and asteroid fields! - Server room on the left deck - Meeting room - Refreshed bunks - Debriefing Room - Life support engine - Engine fuel pump - Ship's gravity generator - OOC Lounge - Administration rooms - Numerous spare parts And what is perfect for the jedis, is that there is a real external temple on the map offering:- A Courtyard - Dojo - Training Room - Bunks - Classrooms - Hangar Bay - Knight Ceremony Room - Briefing Room - Jedi Archives - Holocron Vault - Giant Sim Room The advantages of this map are that it will give the players more RP possibilities to find something to do while waiting for their event or even simply to be able to continue their RP on the venator just like on Annaxes. And this map has much less MB than the venator we use (103.463 MB > 297.118 MB) Disadvantage: The CIS Ship is not on the map, however the GM's have props etc. that can be used during events to simulate a CIS attack so there is nothing that changes except that you won't be able to board the CIS Ship

  6. Hello. After careful thinking, and long thought, I have decided to resign my position. I have much respect for those in the mod community, however, I have found that it just isn't for me. I enjoy having fun, and, bluntly, am not a model player. So, I've decided to let go of the moderator position. I will continue to support the server through my donations, but will no longer be supporting with moderation.

  7. Denied Hey Zeihy, your ban evasion has been confirmed via IP from in-game and forums. Here are the forum accounts registered with your current ip. The IP that these 3 accounts registered with has frequently been used by the @zeihy main account. I cannot show that IP match without giving out your IP publicly, which I simply will not do. Unfortunately this is not our problem, you donated while ban evading and that is your own fault. Being a donator has nothing to do with appealing. This isn't the sentiment I gathered from asking the staff team about the possibility of you being a ban evader. Almost everyone said you were toxic and friends with other toxic people. Anyways, your ban will remain in place with no chance for future appeal. Take care.

  8. I think that, at least in my eyes, this was the worst part of the reserves change. Not only was it pretty unnecessary (yet it didn't effect me), it also did not get discussed at all. There seems to be a common trend recently of very major decisions not being discussed period. The fact that the current MRP staff team has SO MANY staff members right now, and yet barely any of them are being used, is slightly odd to me. I think that had this decision been discussed with the staff team, the many flaws and odd parts of the new system would have been ironed out.

  10. Yes I did do this sit improperly, I am new but that shouldn't really be an excuse why I did that and the reasoning that I did a bad job is because there was people talking in chat and irl at the same time and didn't really know which to talk to first and I wish I had a thing in real life to clip that to show you that I was being distracted while doing this sit but yes I shouldn't have done that at I understand now. here is the link to what has happened during the kidnap. https://medal.tv/games/garrys-mod/clips/dieYbKSa6Nggt/bQAfPs6H28kM?invite=cr-MSxoRDksNTI4NjgyNDks The reason why he should be warned for Fail RP is because it seems clear to me that CW3 Starfighter which was in the ghillie was being right next to Simon before when Ting /advert Kidnap in the chat. Then Ting tried to get information from Simon even though he should've just falsed the kidnap before hand. Then 055th CPL Tomboy knew Starfighter being there and seemed that he didn't care at all. But then Ting still decided to return back to base and still tried to gather information from Simon.

  11. What is to be added: I’m suggesting that a saber labeled “Event Saber” be added that has access to every form and every force ability. How will it benefit the server: This gives GM’s access to the entirety of our Sentinel WiltOS and they can dictate what form(s) and force powers the event characters can use. There are a variety of forms that GMs can have their ECs use according to their plan as well as a large range of force powers. A GM can dictate that the EC is a fledgling force user and has no more than something like med/CH and force jump. Or a very well versed dark side user capable of using a dev. The possibilities are quite high with the addition of a saber like this and the creation is relatively simple. TL:DR - Gives GMs more flexibility in the kits they assign to Force users. Additional Info / Code: N/A at this time but I can provide code for forms included with the saber if needed.

  12. In-game name: SOC CDR Jet Age: 15 SteamID (https://steamid.io/): STEAM_0:0:192267957 Warns: No warns/bans/CG Jails/ Timezone: PST Playtime?: 209 Hours(Bishop said I was fine) Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: [YES/NO] Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?:[YES/NO] Referral(s): [What administrator recommended you to apply?] Harry Tuna Ozzy Eli Past experiences as a Game Master: [Optional] MRP S.GM Was GM for about 7 months Why should we choose you over other applicants? [minimum 2 paragraphs] I should choose over other applicants as I have a considerable background in being a Gm and working with fellow GMs. Aswell I am PST so I can still up usually later than most GMs and help keep the pop around entertaining people with small events that are still fun to partake in. Another redeeming factor about me is I think quick which in turn lets me have players make decisions without me intervening and letting people have fun! I should also be chosen over other applicants as I understand what it means to contribute to a team rather than be a nuisance to the team. I can take tuff criticism and capitalize off of my mistakes by learning from them and asking for help when you need it. I also bring a new mind to the gm team as I have experience from MRP and can suggest new beneficial tools for Gms to use. Lastly I hold a position in SWRP where it would greatly benefit people on the sever as I can host training. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details 22/12/2021 1 MRP RDM Warn How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: 3-4 Hours Weekdays and 5+ On Weekends In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: In my option, the responsibility of a gamemaster is to create environments where players are immersed in the world of Star Wars and can feel like they are truly doing something that has effects on the mission at large. Rather than being puppets for the gamemaster to satisfy the required events for that week. To add to that from my experience as a player of Star Wars Rp I want to make sure other batts that are not included sometimes have something meaningful to do in every event. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: A big way I could contribute to RP as a member of the gamemaster team is to other helps running events, by making side missions(of course I would ask the gm running it if that is fine) these side mission could include 501st pushing up with 327th tank crew and fighting over a fob and taking control of the fob or 104th having to talk to a hostage and find the missing information to finish the puzzle that is required to breach a door. If the map allows it 91st could have a speeder chase against an EC and 41st could have to prepare a trap up with 327th to take the guy hostage. Aswell I find myself with loads of time so I more than likely can fill a slot for the off-world event if needed on short notice. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: My most creative idea for RP is to build on my own Star Wars RP character Jet. When I get gm I can create and use dupes to make really interesting training courses that can help better the troops on base well keeping them thrilled in Rp. If permission were granted maybe build a whole mastery course out for my training courses where people can master something and run the courses. This system would have possibly 3 or more courses that can be Breaching, Shooting, and Accuracy. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] Event 1 Operation Aquasec (On World) Operation Aquasec is the rising of a CIS "Special Operation" organization these elite aqua base droids would be a sniper team the goal is to target HVT at any cost to the CIS this includes the use of rather large scale attacks where players could become EC's droids and take part in this raid with the CIS. On the other hand, the 34th Battle Group will have received information regarding the attempt assassination on HVTs by a mission be for the first raid by AWS takes place. This event would be great as it will give medic's a whole lot of people to Med RP and for people that have fun shooting non-AI's they can have fun fighting each other. Pilots can also have a real challenge and go up against real players in large-scale dog fights. Off world(sb_atlantis_b14a) So before the Operation Aquasec event takes place the 34th Battlegroup well have been sent to Atlantis for a standard city checkup where they will find out that the city has been killed off and all that remains in the city is datapad entries left on terminals around the city. Well, they are going around the city AWS(the elite droid snipers) Will be killing people/injuring people resulting in 327th to make a fob for the medics to work on troopers as they fight through the city. Once the 34th Battlegroup gets to the final terminal they will find out the last remaining member of this city is being held hostage by Braxroge Crolile, a low-level criminal that is possibly working with an unknown shadow army. The hostage in this event is not guaranteed to live but if trades are done right will result in the information of the attack. If the trades do go wrong/bad the CIS will be alerted of the Republic's attempt to take the city back and will send in AATs and MTTs to fight off the Republic. Before the Republic can leave they must hack the datapad left on the ground by Braxroge Crolile to figure out about Operation AquaSec. Event 2 Winter Storms on(gm_vyten) On this large scale, event troopers will be tasked with storming points of interest as they fall in love with this cold wonderland. The CIS has taken over Vyten and is using its large radio tower to hijack into the comms of the republic leaving the trooper unable to use comms. So with this in mind, ENG will be tasked with building a Radio Tower to help restore comms for the Republic! Well, people are running around like maniacs trying to find parts the CIS is planning the biggest attack ever seen on one planet. Action will be everywhere and guns will be blazing. After the long attack, CIS will back off and prepare. Well CIS are preparing troops will have ample to finish building that radio tower and Meds can take safe refuge in a cabin and do treatment on the ground. Once comms are back and running the CIS will see the heat trail the comms tower is making and place defense on the large commination tower. After securing the tower troops can explore the rest this map has to offer and go back home. Event 3 Inspection (On World small event) In this event Palpatine will come over for a small inspection of this base this will include CG showing Palpatine base inspections Certs showing off and letting Palpatine so what great work they have done. To go into more detail the certs will be put through tough training like EOD will have to defuse multiple bombs and get rid of them in an orderly fashion. Pilots will have to go up against different CIS ships. ENG will have to build Turrets to have the Republic defend against the attacks and repair the engine room. Medics will have to work quickly on Palpatine as he will get wounded by a rogue trooper. This would be a "VR" sim of course as to let Gm's spawn things in and have it make sense. Event 4 The Force is Strong here(gm_lunarbase) In the event, The force is strong here I will get some ECs that will play as Convented Jedi working with the CIS. The Republic will have been alerted that CIS has taken over the lunar base and will have to go around the base freeing the staff that was running the base. Well battling around this base they will encounter multiple force users and will have to deal with them. How the players deal with them is up to them. Well freeing the staff from those scummy clankers they will receive numbers that will open a bunker outside the base informing the troops to head to Alderaan and find the remaining Jedi before they get turned to the dark side. Event 5 Skies Clear(rp_alderaan PT.2 of Luna base) In this event recon, batts will have to find the temple and report what they find(a locked door) once they return to the "ship" the Navy will hold a debrief telling the army they will have to search the city to find the code in getting into the temple. This event will just be exploring and letting players look around a well down and map well enjoying an atmosphere that will be created by ECs scattered around the city. Once they have searched the entire city and found the code troopers will head to the great temple and enter the code if they fail to enter the code in property engineers and Jedi will have to brute force the code. Breaking the sneaky approach they planned for this mission. Sneaky Version if the mission is done with stealth and played out right the troopers and Jedi will storm the temple and find where the dark force users are converting the force users. Should they get the force user back and prevent the cities CIS silent alarm off they can leave the city or keep exploring. Brute Force Version If the code is a fail and they have to brute force into the temple the CIS alarm will be triggered resulting in an attack on the troopers well trying to find the dark user the battlegroup will have to defend off from the waves of droids and CIS armor that will be laying siege. Unless they do really got hostage negotiation the force user will most likely die and the Republic will have to emergency evac. Extra Information if I do become a Gm I will be dual staffing and both managements said it is fine! Thank you for reading this

Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?: Yes Referrals(s): XL D, Mao, West, Reeper Past experiences as staff: Moderator on Gaminglight Police RP server How do you plan on benefiting our server?: I plan on benefiting the server by helping provide an enjoyable experience for everyone on the server. I feel as if I understand the rules well and have started to also reflect the rules in how I act on the server, and that I can punish a player with what is appropriate to what rules were broken. Furthermore, I am confident that I can moderate without bias towards either factions or specific players. Becoming staff would further alleviate the stress off current staff as well as playing at odd hours of the night often. Throughout my time playing I have received no warns and have been pulled into very few sits for something caused by me. I would also like to help officers with tryouts and sims. I feel as if I have shown to be respectful and a good role model of the rules for the server. Since going through the ranks of Tali especially, after training for BMI, I think that I have matured significantly. I have started to pay much more attention to the rules, and stopped being as much of a minge after taking the server more seriously. Ever since then I have also tried to make the server as enjoyable for newer players as possible to try and get them to come back. I try my best to be helpful to any new player and am respectful to everyone no matter the person. I really enjoy both the server, as well as the people who play on it. Have you ever been banned or punished on GG MRP? If so, include details: No Have you made any previous applications if so when?: No How much time do you have to contribute to the role: I can contribute at least 3-4 hours a day most days more

  19. I thought it was necessary to discuss the change in a public forum accessible to more people, since arguing in DM's or Staff Discord doesn't really get that much done. Discord chats aren't good places to make genuine solutions. The thing is, these players likely would never join the server anyway, and the only reason they would is to use their reserves. This is a very valid point, however its on the staff team to remember the reason people got their reserves removed, not on the players themselves. A failure to record and log reserves changes should be no reason to punish players who did nothing wrong. Furthermore, what is the worst possible thing someone can do with reserve powers? Perhaps I am out of touch, but I simply don't remember any examples of this happening when I participated in the vote. I will agree on the fact that a Faction Leader has plead their case for it to be ignored, but I don't think this is the staff's fault, because as far as I'm concerned, the staff don't have any way to easily access this case. Perhaps a dedicated plead channel in the staff discord? An enlisted having officer permissions from their reserves gives them an opportunity to participate in scenarios that require O-1 perms(EX: Kidnapping, Spawning Vehicles, Raiding to name a few) If enlisted have no officers online, I don't believe they should ignore their reserves and go AFK due to lack of activities. Since I have joined MRP, there is a tier progression that is generally recommended for new players. You join base faction, mess around with enlisted and once you are ready, maybe move on to a SOC faction and, by the time that you do, hopefully your game knowledge and combat skill is up to par with the rest of that SOC. There is an indelible fact we must face here; Switching factions can be hard. To go from base faction to SOC is a change that, in some cases, have completely turned people off from the server. While I do think reserves can and have been used as "a backup plan," I really don't see the harm in that, as if they weren't going to commit to the faction they joined anyway, they would not have stayed. Don't punish them for trying something new and not liking it. Adding on to this further, some people main one country, they only stick to US or Tali for one reason or another, I don't think these players should be punished for wanting to stay on one side. I am aware that it is the same, but current staff can remember the time I spent on Tali, plus for the reasons listed above, I don't see why the entire faction being removed discounts that work. While giving me reserves back would not be fair to the old players, I believe that the entire reserves change itself is in a similar predicament. I honestly don't see the point in trying to ruin people's fun. If a faction leader sees their enlisted playing on their reserves half of the time, it is in their rights alone to punish that player for not dedicating their time to the faction they are in. Furthermore, it is an ironic situation, as currently you have been on 2LTR on 11A for the past couple of weeks(from what I have been told) and have decided not to join any faction. I don't know what your reasoning for this is, but I'd assume it's manager stuff.. Handpicks are nothing new on MRP, but you really don't want to be going around saying handpicks are the important thing. Why should someone who just joined have to contend with a random PVT instantly getting SGM and then officer? It makes much more sense to have someone go from 2LTR to 2LT to help their faction rather than going all the way up. As of right now, I am a SFC in Tali. I have been given opportunities to instantly go to SGM or even officer, but I have denied them. Keep in mind, I have done many things as an enlisted, some of which being warleading. This sentence probably defeats the purpose of my entire argument, as your opinion as the manager outweighs mine and others as simple players of the game. However, I implore you to take a minute to read through these responses and stew upon it with the staff team, and rethink it. There are always two sides to an argument, and I believe this is no exception. Enlisted having reserves is not a bad thing by any means, and enlisted abusing extra whitelists should be punished by faction leaders, not staff. I appreciate the long response and I think you addressed all of my points well. While we may not agree on the discussion, I still think the dialogue is important to constantly check ourselves and decisions. Cheers.

  20. I've responded to this where it's been brought up to me, either in DMs or in the Staff Discord, every time it's been raised but I guess I'll respond to it again. On only authorising 'modern' Reserves The entire Reserves system didn't work for old players returning, and actually at this time on the server there's been very few situations of an old player returning, asking for Reserves, and making use of those Reserves. More often than not players will either get Reserves and never be seen again, or get them and come off them for 2 weeks before leaving the server again. Also, just being an Officer years ago shouldn't entitle someone to an Officer rank now, the server and they have changed in this time. Also with many players its not going to be clear why they lost those Reserves in the first place. Yes there's been Reserves wipes but that isn't necessarily how they lost them, and there's pretty much no way to verify any of that unless one Staff member can remember specifics. On no more Staff vote The Staff vote has been criticised by everyone, except Staff. Now there's a thousand reasons people would ask for Reserves, and Staff voting has historically been bizarre. People considered bad Officers by large portions of the community getting reserves, people with valid reasons to leave the server not getting Reserves. At the end of the day the Staff vote has always been incredibly uninformed, and even when a Faction Leader has said their piece to Staff to try and explain why they approved of the vote in the first place, Staff have ignored it. Revoked if on the same side There's no logic behind someone being, for example, a Ranger Enlisted and a GB Reserves Officer at the same time. Not going into the whole 'reality' debate but players frequently swapped from their main life to their Reserves in order to take advantage of those Officer permissions, which is such a stupid thing. Also Reserves are essentially a position in a Faction, if you're actively in another Faction on the same side, why do you also need another position on that same side? People have used Reserves as simply a backup 'well if I dont like X faction I've got reserves' which effectively discourages committing in future, and if people aren't going to try and commit to a faction then that faction loses out. Your situation (Kurtle) You gave up your Tali reserves in November, your situation is effectively the same as old players asking for Reserves. Why the change The old system had its issues, but for the most part they were overlooked because players enjoyed being able to play even more whitelists. The Reserves system had basically become dual factioning, which is not the point of the Reserves system, and not the way I feel the system should go. In my opinion Reserves should be a rank held, for whatever reason, for players who have the intention to return to the Faction. It splits with the sides because, as I mentioned, being able to outrank yourself is an incredibly bizarre scenario and players do take advantage of the Officer perms despite also being an Enlisted on that side. On the lack of discussion with Staff before the decision Underlined before because I do want to make it clear I did discuss this with Staff when it was announced, as obviously there were concerns and questions. When it was announced, the majority of the responses were things I already knew were going to be said. So in a scenario where I bring this up for discussion with Staff, they show disagreement, except for those on the team who agreed/wanted further change, and it would more than likely be expected nothing changed with the system. I was going to make a change to the system anyway, because a large part of this is how I, and some others to even more extreme, feel the Reserves system should be applied to the server. There's always going to be disagreements when it comes down to the principle of Reserves, and I'd have made the change after some Staff would have already assumed it was put to bed, which would have angered them even more. Also someone at the time mentioned 'Reserves can come back and help a struggling faction', but as I've made clear to Factions that have needed help, in extreme cases, they can get 1 or 2 handpicks to help them start improving, which negates requiring Reserves to help a struggling faction. At the end of the day, the old system was mostly a free pass for extra whitelists, and Officer permissions. That's not how MRP should be played in my opinion.

  22. The old reserve system was just fine as it was and there was really no reason to change it. I understand in past system there was a main problem that the reserve system had and that is why it was changed yet for this change I saw no problem with the system and from my knowledge neither did the community. This new system just feels like a punch in the face for people that put work into a faction and are still on the side of that faction and they have just moved on. Why should a player who has put a lot of time and effort into one faction have to give up on reserves for that faction just so they can go to another. This discourages people helping out factions that are on their current side because they will just lose the reserves that they had originally.

  23. I was one of the reasons reserves were revised initially back then. I possed reserves in multiple factions as either a ltcol, or col reserves, due to leading factions. The problem people had with it, is they didn't like to be ordered by retired, or people swapping to their other leadership to meta or power game. Personally I enjoyed having 5 reserves, but I know that time is gone.

  28. Placing my opinion here because I've considered something similar. In my opinion, in terms of looking forwards with our GM team, I feel Factions should take some responsibility in terms of what events they wish to participate in. If members want to do a style of Operation, they contact a GM to help them make it a reality. This way it is still the faction members' responsibility to keep their faction active and doing interesting activities, and GMs aren't always being expected to come up with all the ideas and hope players like it. Using a quote from your suggestion: This section I already completely agree with, however specifically assigning GMs is the part I'm not sure about. If you took out the bit saying assigned to Green Beret, GMs and Officers could potentially do more as they wouldn't need to organise it with a specific GM, just any available GM.

About 80 of those hours are post-reboot. Do you have access to TeamSpeak and a microphone?: Yes Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?: Yes Referral(s): Tdizz Past experiences as a Game Master: No formal experience with a GM Rank. As a Manager/SA on MRP, I periodically held IC & OOC events. Why should we choose you over other applicants? The biggest edges I have over other applicants are my ability to adapt and willingness to improve myself. It's no secret that shit doesn't always go as planned when free will exists. Players may make mistakes, fail rolls, or I fail to properly set up an aspect of the event. I have the composure and just general aptitude to be able to roll with the punches and keep the event running smoothly. I've proven throughout my time here on Garnet that I'm more than capable of absorbing setbacks and bouncing back to contribute in a positive manner. Another way of looking at adaptability is how versatile I can be in creating RP. I can work with superadmins and I can work with the CT with 12 minutes of playtime. I can create a fleshed out, multi-planet campaign and I can create janitor RP. I’m able to read the room and see what sort of event works best given the circumstances. A skill that I believe also sets me apart from my peers. The second point, the desire to improve myself. I've never been one to shut out or silence criticism. I openly encouraged people to criticize, disagree (if they mean it of course), and to embrace discussion. I feel it's a way that people, especially myself, grow. I will strive to take the feedback from my peers and colleagues and allow it to better me as a GM instead of taking it as some personal attack. Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? Banned for cheating in March of 2019 on MRP. How much time do you have to contribute to the role?: Roughly 1 - 3 hours a day on weekdays. In your own words, what are the responsibilities of a Gamemaster?: I feel the only answer is "content creator". Our job is to create content for the player base. We need to be the catalyst for roleplay and action that will help retain the players we do have and attract the new players who join. Describe how you would contribute to RP as a part of the Gamemaster team: I'd bring creative, constant ideas and events to the team. I'm on early (for PST folks, mid-morning for EST folks) and can help jumpstart pop early in the morning, which will result in a higher peak. Explain your single most creative idea for contributing to the RP environment of the server: To whomever is dealing or involved with the application, PM me on discord or the forums. I have an entire doc for you that I'd prefer to keep secret. Please list and explain 5 unique event ideas of any scale: [Be sure to include any additional context that may be necessary to your explanation] #1: “Outer Banks” (rp_vanqor_sbs) Naval received a mayday call from a Venator out in the Outer Rim. The signal was scratchy at best but they could make out that the Venator claimed to have been shot down. A Venator going down is a monumental loss to the Republic and an immediate cause for alarm. Not many things can take one down. The Admiral will immediately order the forces to LAAT’s and leave for Planet Vanqor. Once the FOB has been settled near the crash, engineers will be tasked with examining the ships navigation deck and determining the cause of the crash. While half work on the ship evaluation, the other half of the engineers will work on getting a landing pad and the Republic ships ready. Medics will attempt to find survivors and gather corpses from the wreckage. EODs will be evaluating the crash to make sure no secondary explosions or other dangers could occur. While this is going on, a massive explosion will strike the planet and a plethora of Tri-fighters and vultures descend upon the planet. Pilot squadron and certified pilots are ordered to drop everything and man their ships and fill their gunner slots. This is the bulk of the combat for this event. A long drawn out dogfight. After some scrambling, Engineers will be able to scrap together some AA guns after some appropriate rolls. After the fight is over. Engineers will return to reviewing the downed Venator to find the real cause of the crash. #2: “Stockpile” (rp_noclyria_crimson) CIS insurgents have taken over the military outpost and have been exploiting slave labor to stockpile weapons and supplies. A debrief will be hosted. 501st/212th will be the main infantry units storming the compound. Behind them will be 104th, while 327th begin to set a perimeter on the inside of the compound whilst 41st/91st set up on the outside. 501st will set up a medical room after the building has been cleared and conduct some MedRP whilst GM’s begin the second stage of the event. Before the compound was cleared, the on-scene CIS Commander was able to get out an SOS. Reinforcements are rapidly on the way, and they are bringing quite the arsenal to get this pivotal stronghold back. GMs will spawn a C-9979 (or whichever passes best as a CIS transport vessel). From that ship, tanks, aircraft, and drop pods will be spawned aplenty. This one will be VERY HIGH intensity and all troopers/navy/jedi’s will only have one life. They need to act tactically and work cohesively in order to hold the base. #3: “Contagion” Either the 91st or 41st Battalion will be sent on a general scouting mission. As they near Outpost Zeta, there will be a massive explosion inside the outpost. They will report the explosion and be ordered to investigate and evaluate the damage. Inside the main building of the outposts, they will find numerous corpses. Some charred, some in what look like hazmat suits, and some turned to ash. The battalion on scene will gather evidence on the chemicals at the lab, recover all the bodies, and RTB with the help of 19thAW. On the way to base, the recovering battalion will start to experience symptoms. The symptoms are TBD and for good reason. This virus is going to be mutating every 5 minutes upon arrival to the medbay. The better the rolls, the more obvious the symptoms will be and Medics can cure the diseases before the virus mutates once more. #4: The Defector A high pay-grade Naval officer has defected to the Separatists after Dooku gave him quite an offer of money and power. After receiving the news, the Admiral immediately calls an emergency debrief. The information the defector has could be crippling to the Republic. All available forces outside of CG will be ordered to immediately begin investigating his possible whereabouts. Battalions will be sent to Village, Aurek, Zeta, and Radio Tower. Upon arriving at RT, the troopers there will receive a transmission… from an unlikely source. Cad Bane has heard of our unfortunate predicament and is willing to sell information to us. For such a “betrayal” to the CIS, he demands 5 million republic credit. 2.5 now and 2.5 after the defector is dealt with. The defector has been transported to Geonosis and will be meeting with the top brass of the Separatists 2 days. Bane gives the coordinates for the base on Geonosis. The Admiral holds a debrief to prep for departure. Upon arriving on Geonosis, there will be some OOC organization so no one runs off. Once the battalions are organized, a quick briefing will take place. As usual 212th/501st run point with 41st/91st scouts taking inventory of any hostiles. 104th Controllers will join the scouts after they’ve been told it's clear to move. The other 104th and all of 327th will cover 212th/501st’s rear. Once the compound is located. Any available snipers will be asked to get into position and fire on one singular mark in order to maximize shock and awe. Once the raid begins, units will tactically storm the compound and search for the Defector. In the innermost part of the compound he’ll be waiting, cyanide pill in hand. The attackers may be tempted to just let him croak… until he reveals that he has info regarding CIS movements. If he reveals that info, the Separatists will surely attack and kill his family. Troopers will have to persuade the Defector to put down the pill and share the CIS info. #5: Gold Rush The Galaxy’s 32nd richest man has passed away with no next-of-kin. With his dying breath, he gave 7 riddles to detail the locations of 7 fortunes he’s scattered across the Galaxy. One such riddle begins here on Anaxes. The clue states: ###########. The Republic has an idea of where to start, but that means so do the Separatists. Players will have to work together to decipher clues, and fight off the CIS army as they work their way to the final clue. Where what lies might not be what they expected.
